Primera Lectura: 2 Samuel 12: 7-10, 13: En aquellos días, dijo el profe-ta Natán al rey David: "Así dice el Dios de Israel: 'Yo te consagré rey de Israel y te libré de las manos de Saúl, te confié la casa de tu señor y puse sus mujeres en tus brazos; te di poder sobre Judá e Israel, y si todo esto te parece poco, estoy dispuesto a darte todavía más. ¿Por qué, pues, has despreciado el mandato del Señor, haciendo lo que es malo a sus ojos? Mataste a Urías, el hitita, y tomaste a su esposa por mujer. A él lo hiciste morir por la espada de los amonitas. Pues bien, la muerte por espada no se apartará nunca de tu casa, pues me has despreciado, al apoderarte de la esposa de Urías, el hitita, y hacerla tu mujer'". Segunda Lectura: Gálatas 2: 16, 19-21: Hermanos: Sabemos que el hombre no llega a ser justo por cumplir la ley, sino por creer en Jesucris-to. Por eso también nosotros hemos creído en Cristo Jesús, para ser justificados por la fe en Cristo y no por cumplir la ley. Porque nadie que-da justificado por el cumplimiento de la ley. Evangelio: Lucas 7: 36-8: 3: En aquel tiempo, un fariseo invitó a Jesús a comer con él. Jesús fue a la casa del fariseo y se sentó a la mesa. Una mujer de mala vida en aquella ciudad, cuando supo que Jesús iba a comer ese día en casa del fariseo, tomó consigo un frasco de alabastro con perfume, fue y se puso detrás de Jesús, y comenzó a llorar, y con sus lágrimas bañaba sus pies, los enjugó con su cabellera, los besó y los ungió con el perfume. Viendo esto, el fariseo que lo había invitado co-menzó a pensar: "Si este hombre fuera profeta, sabría qué clase de mu-jer es la que lo está tocando; sabría que es una pecadora". Entonces Jesús le dijo: "Simón, tengo algo que decirte". El fariseo contestó: "Dímelo, Maestro". Él le dijo: "Dos hombres le debían dinero a un presta-mista. Uno le debía quinientos denarios y el otro, cincuenta. Como no tenían con qué pagarle, les perdonó la deuda a los dos. ¿Cuál de ellos lo amará más?" Simón le respondió: "Supongo que aquel a quien le perdo-nó más". Entonces Jesús le dijo: "Has juzgado bien". Luego, señalando a la mujer, dijo a Simón: "¿Ves a esta mujer? Entré en tu casa y tú no me ofreciste agua para los pies, mientras que ella me los ha bañado con sus lágrimas y me los ha enjugado con sus cabellos. Tú no me diste el beso de saludo; ella, en cambio, desde que entró, no ha dejado de besar mis pies. Tú no ungiste con aceite mi cabeza; ella, en cambio, me ha ungido los pies con perfume. Por lo cual, yo te digo: sus pecados, que son mu-chos, le han quedado perdonados, porque ha amado mucho. En cambio, al que poco se le perdona, poco ama". Luego le dijo a la mujer: "Tus pecados te han quedado perdonados". Los invitados empezaron a pre-guntarse a sí mismos: "¿Quién es éste, que hasta los pecados perdo-na?" Jesús le dijo a la mujer: "Tu fe te ha salvado; vete en paz". Después de esto, Jesús comenzó a recorrer ciudades y poblados predicando la buena nueva del Reino de Dios. Lo acompañaban los Doce y algunas mujeres que habían sido libradas de espíritus malignos y curadas de varias enfermedades. Entre ellas iban María, llamada Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios; Juana, mujer de Cusa, el administra-dor de Herodes; Susana y otras muchas, que los ayudaban con sus propios bienes. Jesus said to him in reply, "Simon, I have something to say to you." "Tell me, teacher," he said. "Two people were in debt to a certain creditor; one owed five hundred days' wages and the other owed fifty. Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both. Which of them will love him more?" Simon said in reply, "The one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven." He said to him, "You have judged rightly." Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? When I entered your house, you did not give me water for my feet, but she has bathed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the time I entered. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she anointed my feet with oint-ment. REFLEXIÓN DOMINICAL / SUNDAY REFLECTION LOVE IS WHAT SAVES US

In order to justify their lack of respect for the law, while at the same time literally respecting the norms, there are some people who say that those who invented the law

also invented deceit. Norms and laws are necessary for the proper functioning of any social group. Religious

laws always assure respect for life and the dignity of people above all else; yet, no matter how good all human and religious laws are, if we don’t have love, it is all dead. In the end it is love that wins

over people’s heart and the heart of God.

Sometimes children (and even adults) like to play pranks on others, skip norms, and disobey laws; but the person who should be offended is later moved and softened by a small act of love or the sincerity of repentance, because the person, who should be offended, is the one who im-posed the norms, and did it out of an immense love to-ward that creature. Something similar occurs with the heart of God. God desires to be loved so much— because it is his nature— that the smallest sign of repentance or love softens him and mercy triumphs.

The readings from this Sunday tell and repeat this to the extreme. David has committed a grave sin; yet a simple recognition of the fault committed brings God’s mercy and compassion. Paul assures that no law can save, only a personal relationship with the living Christ has the power to save. This encounter with the living Christ takes us, inevita-bly, toward recognition and love; and there once again the love of God melts into compassion. Love is what saves us.

In the case of the woman who washed the feet of Jesus the question is even clearer: who loves more, if not the person who was forgiven more? The one who has been forgiven so much out of love, the one who feels saved by a personal God who comes close and picks him up, will feel the power of conviction. There will be no laws re-quired, for love will guide all your steps in the right direc-tion.

For Reflection What do I consider as having greater power of belief: reli-gious laws and norms or the personal recognition that I am loved by God? Do I do things better because it is the law and an obligation or because I love and want to please the person I love?

EL AMOR ES LO QUE SALVA

“Quien hizo la ley hizo la trampa”, dicen a veces algunas personas para justificar una falta de respeto por la ley, que al mismo tiempo, respeta literalmente las normas. Las normas y las leyes son necesarias para el buen funciona-miento de cualquier grupo social. Las leyes religiosas aseguran siempre el respeto a la vida y la dignidad de las personas antes que nada; pero, por muy buenas que sean todas las leyes humanas y reli-giosas, si falta el amor, todo queda como muerto. El amor es, en último término, el que se gana el corazón de las personas y el que se gana el corazón de Dios.

A veces los niños (y los mayores) hacen travesuras, se sal-tan las normas, desobedecen las leyes. Luego, un peque-ño acto de cariño o la sinceridad del arrepentimiento conmueve y derrite a quien debería estar ofendido, por-que este, que es quien impuso la norma, lo hizo por un enorme cariño hacia esa criatura. Algo así pasa con el corazón de Dios. Tanto desea Dios ser amado —porque es su naturaleza— que el más pequeño signo de arrepenti-miento o de amor lo derrite; y entonces triunfa la miseri-cordia.

Las lecturas de este domingo lo dicen y repiten hasta el extremo. David ha pecado gravemente. Un simple reco-nocimiento de falta le atrae la misericordia y la compa-sión de Dios. Pablo asegura que ninguna ley salva; solo una relación personal, la relación con el Cristo vivo tiene el poder de salvar. Ese encuentro con el Cristo vivo lleva necesariamente al reconocimiento y al amor; y ahí se vuelve a derretir en compasión el amor de Dios. El amor es lo que salva.

En el caso de la mujer que lava los pies de Jesús la pre-gunta está todavía más clara: ¿quién ama más sino aquel a quien mucho se le perdona? Aquel a quien se le ha per-donado tanto por amor, aquel que se ha sentido salvado por un Dios personal que se acerca y lo levanta sentirá el poder de la convicción; no le harán falta leyes, porque el amor moverá todos sus pasos en la dirección adecuada.

Para la Reflexión ¿Qué tiene para mí más poder de convicción: las leyes y normas religiosas o el reconocimiento íntimo de que soy amado por Dios? ¿Hago las cosas mejor cuando las hago porque es la ley y la obligación o porque amo y deseo agradar a la persona a quien amo?

Los padres de familia que envían a sus hijos a estos campamentos deben asegurarse de investigar el campa‐mento y a los consejeros que estarán cuidando a sus hijos. Si su hijo/hija va a ir a un campamento de varios días, llame y escriba correos electrónicos a su hijo/hija con regularidad. Ha‐ga preguntas y asegúrese de que su niño/niña esté seguro(a) y bien cuidado(a) en cualquier tipo de campamento.

Mensaje del Papa Message from the Pope LA ORACIÓN ES LA BATERÍA QUE HACE FUNCIONAR AL CRISTIANO

El Papa Francisco habló de la oración y de los dones que cada cristiano recibe y deben ser puestos a disposición de los de‐más y no guardarlos para uno mismo. “Cuántas obras se con‐vierten en oscuras por falta de luz, por falta de ora‐ción. Lo que mantiene, lo que da vida a la luz cristiana, lo que ilumina es la oración”. El Santo Padre recordó que el cristiano está llamado a ser luz y sal para los de‐más, pero, "¿cuáles son las baterías del cristiano para ser luz? Simplemente la oración”, indicó. “Puedes hacer muchas cosas, muchas obras, muchas obras de misericor‐dia, muchas cosas grandes por la Iglesia –una universidad católica, un colegio, un hospital– y también te harán un mo‐numento de benefactor de la Iglesia, pero si no oras eso esta‐rá un poco oscuro”. Se trata por tanto de “la oración de adoración al Padre, de alabanza a la Trinidad, la oración de agradecimiento, también la de pedir las cosas al Señor, pero la oración del corazón”. Esto es “el aceite, las baterías, que dan vida a la luz”. Respec‐to a la sal, el Pontífice explicó que “se convierte en sal cuan‐do se da, y esta es otra actitud del cristiano: darse; salar la vida de los otros, dar sabor a tantas cosas con el mensaje del Evangelio”. Es “darse, no guardárselo para uno mismo. La sal no es para el cristiano, es para darla. La tiene el cristiano para darla, es sal para darse, pero no para uno mismo”. En definiti‐va, “la sal y la luz son para los demás. La luz no se ilumina a sí misma, la sal no se da sabor a sí misma”. Estos dones “no terminan nunca” porque “una cosa dada como un don continúa siendo dada como don si uno la da, iluminando y dando”. El Papa nos dice: “ilumina con tu luz, pero defiéndete de la tentación de iluminarte a ti mismo. Esto es feo, es un poco la espiritualidad del espejo: me ilu‐mino a mí mismo. Defiéndete de esta tentación. Se luz para iluminar, se sal para dar sabor y conservar”. “Que el Señor nos ayude en esto, a cuidar siempre de la luz, a no esconder‐la, a ponerla en lo alto”. Y la sal, “a darla justa, lo que sea necesario, pero a darla”. “Estas son las buenas obras del cris‐tiano”, aseguró.

PRAYER IS THE BATTERY THAT KEEPS A CHRISTIAN FUNCTIONING

Pope Francis spoke about prayer and the gifts Christians re‐ceive which must not be kept to oneself but instead given to others. “How many acts become dark and obscure because

of lack of light, lack of prayer. What keeps us, what gives life in a Christian light, what brightens is prayer.” The Ho‐

ly Father reminded that Christians are called to be light and salt for all other, but, “What is the battery that Christians have to be light? Simply, Prayer,” he said. “You can do many things, may charitable acts, many acts of mercy, many big things for the church—a cath‐

olic university, a college, a hospital— and you will also have a monument erected as a benefactor of the church, but, if you do not pray, it will be a bit dark.” What we mean here is “the adoration prayer to the Father, to worship the Trinity, the thanksgiving prayer, also the peti‐tions prayer, but a prayer that comes from the heart.” This is the “oil, the batteries, which give light to our life.” In regards to the salt, the Pontiff explains that, “we become salt when we give ourselves, and this is the other attitude a Christian should have: to give oneself, to make others’ lives salty, give flavor to so many things with the message of the Gospel.” It is “giving it, not keeping it for oneself. A Christian has it to give it, it is salt to give to others, not to keep for personal use.” In essence, “the salt and light are for others. The light does not illuminate itself and the salt does not give itself fla‐vor.” These gifts “never end” because “something given, like a gift, continues to be given like a gift if one gives it.” The Pope tells us, “illuminate with your light, but keep yourself from the temptation of illuminating yourself. This is really unpleas‐ant, a bit like the spirituality of the mirror: I give myself light. Defend yourself from this temptation. Be light to illuminate, be salt to give flavor and conserve.” “May the Lord help us with this, to always help us give light, not hide it, but instead place it on high.” And to “give salt justly, what is needed, but to give it freely.” He assured, “These are the good works of a Christian.”

Cuando No Existe un Candidato “Aceptable”

En algunas contiendas políticas, cada candidato toma una posición contraria sobre uno o varios aspectos relativos a los principios morales no‐negociables. En este caso, debe votar por el can‐didato que acoja menos posturas de este tipo o que sea menos propenso a aprobar leyes inmora‐les, o puede decidir votar por nadie. Votar es este tipo de situación no es moralmente igual a la aprobación de candidatos, leyes o pro‐gramas intrínsecamente malignos. Es decir, es una acción dirigida a limitar lo maligno, y una acción que limita lo maligno es buena. Como indico el Papa Juan pablo II sobre la relación a una situación en donde no es posible rechazar o derrotar completamente una ley abor‐tista, que “un parlamentario, cuya absoluta oposición per‐sonal al aborte sea clara y notoria a todos, puede lícita‐mente ofrecer su apoyo a propuestas encaminadas a limi‐tar los daños de esa ley y disminuir así los efectos negati‐vos en el ámbito de la cultura y de la moralidad publi‐ca” (EV 73; y CPL 4).

When There is No “Acceptable” Candidate

In some political races, each candidate takes a wrong position on one or more issues involv‐ing non‐negotiable moral principles. In such a case you may vote for the candidate who takes the fewest such positions or who seems least likely to be able to advance immoral legis‐lation, or you may choose to vote for no one. A vote cast in such a situation is not morally the same as a positive endorsement for candi‐dates, laws, or programs that promote intrin‐sic evils: Rather, it is an action aimed at limiting

the evil, and an action that limits evil is good. As Pope John Paul II indicated regarding a situation where it is not possible to overturn or completely defeat a law al‐lowing abortion, “an elected official who's absolute personal opposition to procured abortion was well known could licitly support proposals aimed at limiting the harm done by such a law and at less4ening its nega‐tive consequences at the level of general opinion and public morality” (EV 73; also CPL n.4).

Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

On today’s Jubilee for Those Sick and Suffering Disabilities, Jesus encounters a woman who is “spiritually ill.” She is thus “disabled” from par‐ticipating in Israel’s worshiping community or polite society. Bathing Jesus’ feet with tears, drying them with unveiled hair, anointing them

(Luke 7:38) risk Jesus’ becoming “unclean.” Yet his mercy welcomes even such inappropriate behavior as her sincere manifestation of love: “Your sins are forgiv‐en. Go in peace” (7:48, 50). Go not just in “peace,” but in shalom, the all‐enveloping, life‐changing assurance of God’s mercy. She is anonymous, “known in the city” only as “a sinful woman” (7:37). The character with name and religious title, “Simon the Pharisee” (7:36, 40), judges her harshly, but himself not at all, and thus forfeits God’s mercy. This Jubilee Year of Mercy chal‐lenges us to self‐examination. In which role do we most often cast ourselves, humble sinner or judgmen‐tal Pharisee? Jesus declares that only by an unfailing willingness to show mercy to fellow sinners can we hope to obtain mercy ourselves (see Misericordiae Vul‐tus, 9).

Undécimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

Hoy en el Jubileo por los Enfermos y las personas con Capacidades Diferentes, Jesús encuentra a una mujer que está “espiritualmente enferma”. Ella no puede par‐ticipar plenamente ni en la comunidad de culto y adora‐ción de Israel ni en la sociedad. Ella lava los pies de Je‐sús con sus lágrimas y los seca con el cabello, ungiéndo‐los (Lucas 7:38) arriesgando a que Jesús quede “impuro”. Sin embargo, su misericordia acoge estas accio‐nes inapropiadas como una manifestación sincera de amor: “tus pecados son perdonados. Vete en paz” (7:48, 50). No solo ve en “paz”, sino en shalom, con todo lo que esto sig‐nifica, la garantía de que la vida cambia con la misericordia de Dios. Ella es una mujer excluida y “solo conocida en la ciudad” como “una mujer pecadora” (7:37). El personaje con nombre y título religioso “Simón el fariseo” (7:36, 40) la juzga muy fuertemente, pero él mismo no se juzga y por lo tanto, desaprovecha la misericordia de Dios. Este Año Jubi‐lar de la Misericordia nos desafía a hacer un examen perso‐nal de conciencia. ¿En cuál situación nos encontramos más frecuentemente, como una persona que reconoce sus cul‐pas o como un fariseo listo para juzgar? Jesús dice que me‐diante una voluntad inquebrantable para mostrar misericor‐dia a nuestros prójimos pecadores nosotros mismos pode‐mos obtener misericordia (ver Misericordiae Vultus, 9).

UN PASO MAS

Un Paso Más es un grupo de apoyo para toda la comunidad, con clases para padres de Fami‐lia, adultos y personas de la tercera edad. Le ofrecemos ayuda con sus problemas.

Acompáñenos todos los jueves de 10 a 11:30 am en la Oficina Parroquial y todos los viernes de 7 a 9 pm en la Escuela.

NOVENA DIA DE LOS PADRES

Tendremos una Novena por el día de los Padres del 19 al 27 de Junio, 2016..Si Us‐ted desea anotar el nombre de su Papá pase a la Oficina Parroquial y pida un so‐bre. Cada día se ofrecerá la Misa por los padres anotados en los sobres.
