JESÚS ES LA PALABRA VIVA

La verdadera felicidad, decía alguien, es querer lo que se hace, más que hacer lo que se quiere. Cuando se quiere lo que se hace, es decir, cuando se ama el lu-gar, el contexto, las personas con las que se está, la posición, el trabajo que se tiene, cuando se ama la propia realidad, entonces se es feliz. ¿Se puede amar una situación dura, de dificultades económicas, de escasez y de lucha como la que conocemos muchos de nosotros? ¿No sería mejor una vida más cómoda, más desahogada, con un futuro más prometedor?

Sí, posiblemente sería mejor, materialmente, y también es más cristiano luchar contra situaciones de injusticia y de dificultad en lugar de quedarse pasivo; pero lo que se nos dice hoy es que felices son precisamente aque-llos que viven esas dificultades, esas angustias y traba-jos y lo hacen con amor, fiados totalmente de la provi-dencia y del amor de Dios. Felices son los que ponen su deseo de comodidades materiales y sus gustos de-trás del bien de los demás. Felices son los que buscan la paz, porque la paz es el fruto del amor de Dios. Feli-ces son los que no viven aferrados a lo que tienen, sino que lo ponen generosamente al servicio de los demás. Ellos saben que lo importante de verdad está dentro de ellos.

Todos ellos son felices, dice Jesús, porque prefieren po-ner a Dios por encima de todo. Son felices porque co-nocen su condición de peregrinos en esta tierra y no se aferran a cosas que no van a perdurar. Son felices por-que saben que su Dios lo es todo para ellos.

Para la reflexión ¿De qué maneras buscas la felicidad? ¿Te parecen esos consejos de Jesús poco realistas, poco adecua-dos a tu situación? ¿En qué te apoyas para sentirte ver-daderamente feliz?

JESUS IS THE LIVING WORD

Someone said that true happiness was to want what one does, rather than to do what one wants. When we want what we do, that is, to love the place, the con-text, the people near us, the position, the work we have, when our own reality is loved, there is happiness. Could a harsh, financially difficult reality, one of scarcity and struggle, such as the one many of us know be loved? Wouldn’t it be better to have a materially com-fortable life, one without anxiety, with a more promising future?

Yes, it would probably be much better materially, and it is much Christian to fight situations of injustice and diffi-culty instead of remaining passive; but what we are told today is that those who go through such difficulties, anguish, and problems with love, trusting totally in the providence and love of God, are precisely the happy ones. Those who place their wish for material comforts and pleasures after the good of others are happy. Those who seek peace, since peace is the fruit of the love of God are happy. Those who don’t hold on to what they have, but generously place it at the service of others are happy. They know that what is really im-portant is inside them, not outside.

All of them are happy, Jesus says, because they prefer to place God above everything else. They are happy because they know their reality as pilgrims on this earth and they don’t hold on to things that won’t last. They are happy because they know their God is everything to them.

Presentation of the Lord: on the Feast of the Presenta-tion of Jesus in the Temple we are celebrating that 40 days after the birth of their first-born child, Mary and Joseph went to the Temple of Jerusalem to offer the infant to the Lord and for the ritual purification of the mother.

DIA DE LA CANDELARIA Y PRESENTACION DEL SEÑOR

La Fiesta de “La Candelaria” se celebra cada 2 de febrero, coincidiendo con la celebración de la pre-sentación del Señor y la purificación ritual de la Vir-gen María.

Presentación del Señor: Fiesta litúrgica que se celebra el 2 de febrero, cuarenta días después de Navidad, en conmemoración de la presentación del niño Jesús en el Templo de Jerusalén. Esta fiesta es también co-nocida como la Candelaria, ya que en ese día se suelen bendecir velas que simbolizan a Cristo, la luz del mundo.
