As we begin a new year, there is a new opportunity for us all to start afresh in many things: in school, in work, in our rela-tionships.

The most important of opportunities for us all, is the chance to spend more time with Jesus and experience His love which always strengthens, renews, supports and directs.

At St Jerome we want to re-introduce you to our adoration chapel and a new schedule. Beginning January 4th the chapel will be open Monday - Friday from 7pm until 9pm.

I want to invite you to take the opportunity to visit and know Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament during those hours. As the chapel is visited more, so we will add new hours to accommodate the need. Just a few minutes in adoration can change your day, convert your heart and change your life.

I am extremely grateful to the committee of people that orga-nized eucharistic adoration at our parish since its inception in 2002. We now have a new team of people instructed by me to devel-op adoration ministry in St Jerome. At the head of the team is Sergio Malvaes.

No longer do you have to sign up to be an adorer or commit to an hour. The chapel will be open at the designated time and one of the team members will be available to you if you have any questions. All you have to do is visit.

Come experience Jesus in the silence. Allow Him to be part of your life in 2016.

Al comenzar un año nuevo, hay una nueva oportunidad para todos nosotros de volver a empezar en muchas cosas: en la escuela, en el trabajo, en nuestras relaciones.

La más importante de las oportunidades para todos nosotros, es la oportunidad de pasar más tiempo con Jesús y experimentar Su amor, el cual siempre fortalece, renueva, apoya y dirige.

En San Jerónimo queremos volver a presentarle a usted nuestra Capilla de Adoración y un nuevo horario. Comenzando el 4 de enero, la capilla estará abierta de lunes a viernes de las 7pm a las 9pm.

Yo quiero invitarlos a ustedes a tomar la oportunidad de visitar y conocer a Jesús en el Santísimo Sacramento durante esas horas. Mientras más sea visitada la capilla, más horas nuevas agregaremos para acomodar la necesidad. Solamente unos cuantos minutos en adoración pueden cambiar su día, convertir su corazón y cambiar su vida.

Yo estoy sumamente agradecido con el comité de personas que organizaron la adoración eucarística en nuestra parroquia desde su comienzo en el 2002. Ahora tenemos un nuevo equipo de personas a quienes les doy instrucciones para desarrollar el ministerio de adoración en San Jerónimo. A la cabeza del equipo está Sergio Malvaes.

Usted ya no tiene que anotarse para ser un adorador o compro-meterse a una hora. La capilla estará abierta a la hora designada y uno de los miembros del equipo estará disponible si usted tiene alguna pregunta. Todo lo que tiene que hacer es visitar.

Venga a experimentar a Jesús en el silencio. Permítale a Él ser parte de su vida en el 2016.

Tax Time! To All St. Jerome’s Church Contributors (Donors)

This is the time when we must file our income taxes for the year 2015. We can help the parish to save money by sending the tax contribution statement only to those who request it. Now the parishioners have the option to receive their statements by mail, e-mail o pick them up in the parish office. If you need a statement with your contributions for 2015, please call Maire at our Parish Office at (773) 262-3170 or fill in the request form below and drop it in the collection basket on Sunday.

Una vez más estamos en el tiempo cuando todos debemos declarar nuestros impuestos del año 2015. NCA Application Deadline Approaching NCA’s admissions season for the 2016-2017 school year is off to a great start! We kicked off the season with successful Open Houses in October and early December, and we’re receiving applications daily. Applications are available online at www.northsidecatholic.org. Our 2016-2017 enrollment process will begin February 1 when we open registration for our current students and their siblings for two weeks. NCA current families always have the first opportunity to register and secure their spots before we begin accepting new families. If you are a current NCA family and have a sibling who will be starting NCA next year (typically in preschool or kindergarten), please note that an application needs to be completed for that student by the end of Janu-ary at the latest. We will start our acceptance process for new NCA families on February 16. NCA is committed to providing a quality, Catholic education to our parish families and the communities we serve. We offer financial aid through our Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund to ensure that money is never a reason why a family doesn’t come to NCA. Looking In The Right Places “Appearances can be deceiving,” as the saying goes. As we celebrate the epiphania, the “appearing” of the eternal Word of God on earth, this is still true.

What rapturous foresight must have filled Isaiah as he wrote the words we hear today. How, for four hundred years, they must have filled the hearts of the people of Israel with hope for the day when God’s glory would shine on them. How deceived some must have felt when the glory of God came to them in the lowliest and humblest of human lives.

We have many expectations about how the divine pres-ence will appear among us. But we can also set ourselves up, through these expectations, to miss the divine glory when it truly appears. We get caught up in looking for the star, forgetting that the star is not the divine sign, the babe is. It may take a persistent journey for us to come upon the true appearance of God’s glory in our lives: Jesus Christ.

Buscar En El Lugar Correcto “Las apariencias engañan” dice el refrán. Al celebrar la epifanía, la manifestación del Verbo de Dios eterno en la tierra, el refrán sigue siendo cierto.

¡Qué sublime premonición debe haber sentido Isaías al escribir las palabras que hoy escuchamos! Por cuatrocientos años, cómo habrán llenado los corazones del pueblo de Israel con esperanzas de que llegaría el día en que la gloria de Dios se derramaría sobre ellos. ¡Qué desilusionados deben haberse sentido algunos cuando la gloria de Dios les llegó en una vida humana de las más bajas y humildes!

Tenemos muchas expectativas de cómo la presencia divina va a manifestarse entre nosotros. Pero también podemos exponernos, por culpa de esas expectativas, a perder de vista la gloria divina cuando se nos aparece de verdad. Nos entretenemos buscando la estrella, y nos olvida-mos que la estrella no es la señal divina, sino el bebé. Puede que tengamos que persistir en el camino antes de llegar a encontrarnos con la apariencia real de la gloria de Dios en nuestra vida: Jesucristo.
