Re: Invitation to Marijuana Giveaway Boulder, Colorado

    Dear Mr. Vice President:

Thank you very much for making plans to visit Colorado on Monday, September

23, 2013 to survey recent flood damage and bring international awareness to our

challenges. This is to invite you to attend a historic and exciting event while here.

We are the No on Proposition AA campaign, organized to oppose a proposal for

the highest tax increase in Colorado history, a 15% statewide sales tax and a 15% excise

tax on Retail Marijuana. Colorado voters in 2012 legalized marijuana through

Amendment 64 to the Colorado Constitution, Article XVIII 16. Amendment 64 was

popular, receiving more votes in Colorado than the Obama-Biden presidential ticket.

Proposition AAs irresponsible tax increase would reinstate the underground black

market in marijuana, which voters wisely cast aside in ending Marijuana Prohibition and

opting to equalize marijuana and alcohol. High sales taxes are also inherently regressive,

disproportionately harming low-income people. Excess taxes create the same incentive

for an untaxed unregulated black market as did the original Prohibition.

To protest these high taxes and bring public attention to our cause, the No on

Proposition AA campaign will provide our own variety of flood relief, free marijuanajoints to all adults age 21 and older on Boulders Pearl Street Mall, Monday, September

23, 2013 starting at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until we run out of supplies. Part of this

Boulder Joint Giveaway is to illustrate the existence of a high demand for marijuana, to

show that people are still hurting in this poor economy enough to line up for hours for a

mere joint, and to show that the market for this wonderful plant cannot and will not be

contained, cannot be constrained, and cannot be over-taxed.

Our previous Joint Giveaway, on September 9, 2013, in Denvers Civic Center

Park in the shadow of the Denver City Hall and Colorado State Capitol, attracted

thousands of people. The Denver City Attorney witnessed our event, and publicly

confirmed that it was conducted in compliance with all state and local laws. Although we

did not formally count the quantity of joints handed out, media reports estimated that we

handed out over 4,000 free joints that day. We carefully checked identification and asked

people to leave if they engaged in the public consumption of marijuana, which is still a

minor offense similar to possession of an open alcohol container. However, Denver

Police wisely restrained themselves from wasting the taxpayers resources formally

pursuing such petty matters, which itself demonstrates just how far we have come. Thepredictable self-serving hand-wringing from the pro-tax campaign and pro-tax politicians

about our harmless Joint Giveaway event only served to crystallize in voters minds that

the true motivation for raising taxes is government hostility to individual freedom. If

these taxes pass, Joint Giveaways will become a common occurrence all over Colorado

as people seek to liberate ourselves from a crushing tax burden.

The most positive and heartening aspect of our Denver Joint Giveaway was the

overjoyed expressions on peoples faces, and their sincere gratitude, when they received

free marijuana. Thousands of people lining up for free joints, even with our logistical

and organizational challenges, was an entirely peaceful and positive event. On a personal

level, it was an honor for me to bring so much joy, to so many, in such a short period of

time. There are no words to describe the positive feeling we had from handing out free

marijuana to thousands of people. Only by experiencing it, can one understand it.

It is well-known that marijuana promotes wellness and health, which is why the

U.S. Government and the Obama Administration currently distributes free marijuana to

patients through the Compassionate Investigational New Drug Program, run by the

National Institute on Drug Abuse. Ironically, now there are two entities known for

distributing free marijuana: the Federal Government, and the No on Proposition AA

campaign. Since it could be said that you, Mr. Vice President, already hand out free

marijuana joints through federal employees acting at your authority, that you shouldexperience the joy of handing out free marijuana directly instead of indirectly.

Beleaguered flood victims need some kind relief from their depression and stress

in dealing with this difficult challenge. Marijuana will bring joy, relief, and sunshine

now that the clouds have parted, the rains have ended, and flood recovery begins. Your

participation in our Joint Giveaway would be a gesture that will help Colorado heal after

    these devastating floods.

We hope that you will be able to attend and participate in our historic and positive

event on Boulders Pearl Street Mall. Thank you very much for your consideration, andmay God Bless America.

    Sincerely,

    Robert J. Corry, Jr.

Treasurer, No on Prop AA Campaign
