INTRODUCCIÓN. INTRODUCTION

14. LAS FORMAS INTERROGATIVAS. THE QUESTION WORDS
Question Word V. auxiliar sujeto V. principal complementos
Where do you work ?
How much did the book cost ?
Who are they talking to ?
When is John going to be back home ?
How many languages can you speak fluently ?
Can you speak English ?
Do you enjoy the film ?
Is she your daughter ?
Recuerda que los verbos auxiliares be, have y do y los modales can (could), must, will (would), shall (should) y may (might) hacen la negación sobre ellos mismos (añadiendo la partícula not) y la interrogación (invirtiendo la posición con el sujeto).
They will come for the party Vendrán para la fiesta
Will they come for the party? ¿Vendrán para la fiesta?
They will not come for the party No vendrán para la fiesta
‘Can you speak English?’ ‘Yes, I can.’ / ‘No, I can’t.’
‘Did you enjoy the film?’ ‘Yes, I did.’ / ‘No, I didn’t.’
‘Is she your daughter?’ ‘Yes, she is.’ / ‘No, she isn’t.’

19. LOS VERBOS AUXILIARES. AUXILIARY VERBS
En inglés tenemos los verbos "to be" (ser o estar), "to
have" (haber o tener) - ambos explicados anteriormente - y "to do" (en su forma auxiliar no
simples.

a. Los monosílabos
Adjetivo Comparativo Traducción Superlativo Traducción
Tall Taller Más alto The tallest El más alto
Long Longer Más largo The longest El más largo
Short Shorter Más corto The shortest El más corto
Wide Wider Más ancho The widest El más ancho

25. LAS PREGUNTAS COLETILLA. THE QUESTION TAGS
You are working, aren’t you? Tú estás trabajando, ¿verdad?
He was drinking, wasn’t he? Él estaba bebiendo, ¿verdad?
He has already left, hasn’t he? Él se ha ido ya, ¿verdad?
You would like it, wouldn’t you? Te gustaría, ¿verdad?
Let’s meet at five o’clock, shall we?
You don’t work, do you? Tú no trabajas, ¿verdad?
You aren’t eating, are you? Tú no estás comiendo, ¿verdad?
He hasn’t arrived yet, has he? Él no ha llegado todavía, ¿verdad?
You won’t play, will you? Tú no jugarás, ¿verdad?
John likes tea, doesn’t he? A Juan le gusta el té, ¿verdad?
You work, don’t you? Tú trabajas, ¿verdad?
Question tags con pronombres indefinidos:
Everyone forgot their books, didn't they? Todos olvidaron los libros, ¿verdad?
No one remembered their books, did they? Nadie se acordó de los libros, ¿verdad?

first 1st second 2nd third 3rd fourth 4th
(the) fourth (of) July
(the) ninth (of) May
July (the) fourth
May (the) ninth
May 17 17 May May 17th 17th May 17th of May

The concert is on July (the) 17th El concierto es el 17 de julio
