Desde siempre la naturaleza se ha regido por tiempos circulares. Y lo cíclico es tan normal que ha estado también presente en las manifestaciones del mundo creado por humanos: la moda, la industria, las teorías, la música, el arte. Con un pequeño toque vanguardista al purismo más fuerte o con volver a las raíces y desmembrarlas para hacer algo nuevo, se recicla para intentar crear. Sin embargo, durante esas vueltas y con el transcurso del tiempo, siempre hay cosas que persisten. En las facetas de la Barcelona de antes y la actual, sucede lo mismo. La ciudad es como un mecanismo que rota y en el que determinados elementos continúan estáticos. Algunas de las cosas que persisten son las que giran en torno al placer más básico: el del paladar. Esos hedonismos culinarios son los que este mes reinan en nuestra percepción de la Barcelona cíclica otoñal.

Nature has always ruled by circular times. And that cycle is so normal that is has also been present in the world manifestations created by humans: fashion, industry, theories, music, art. With a small touch of vanguard given to the most powerful purism or by returning to the roots and dismembering them to make something new, recycling to try and create. However, during these journeys and with the passing of the time, there are always things that persist.In the facets of the Barcelona from the past and the city of now, the same thing happens. The city is like a mechanism that rotates and in which determined elements remain static. Some of the things that persist are those which are turned by the most basic pleasure: the palate. And those culinary hedonisms are the ones that reign this month in our perception of Barcelona’s autumnal cycle.

Partiendo de estudios de diseño industrial en su

natal Moscú, Andrey procura explotar al máximo

su capacidad creativa en muchos otros campos del

diseño, sorprendiendo siempre con sus creaciones,

lo que le ha permitido destacar en su especialidad

y ganar importantes premios como Creata �007 y

Diawards �00�; a través de sus propias palabras nos

explica su relación con el diseño.

de la mano. Es imposible clasificar a una

Based on studies of industrial design in his native

Moscow, Andrey seeks to fully exploit his creative

capacity in many other design fields, always amazing

with his creations, which has allowed him to excel in

his field and win awards such as Diawards 2007 and

Creata 2005; through his own words he explains his

relationship with design.

“I think that design and architecture are always

together. It is impossible to divide people into

architects

and designers. At least for me both disciplines are important in equal parts. My relation with design has been developed for a long time and it has always been related to how I feel. Emotion is the first!!! An emotion moves you. I feel it!. The intuition and internal harmony allows me to do my designs”.

Virginie es arquitecta diplomada en Francia, y vive en el Raval de Barcelona desde ��. Ha desarrollado diferentes vías artísticas que van desde las artes plásticas, la escenografía, el grafismo, el diseño arquitectónico, las puestas en escena de obras arquitectónicas, hasta la fotografía y la creación audiovisual.

La ciudad en mutación es el eje principal de parte de su trabajo, una mirada hacia la memoria urbana.

“La ciudad y su movimiento perpetuo, son pues, como todo, propensos a la complejidad de un aparente desorden. Nuestra incapacidad a percibir las cosas en su conjunto y en una continuidad nos impone la elección de un punto de enfoque. Percibimos perfiles que asociamos para recomponer la realidad. La memoria de la transformación de la ciudad funciona como el cine, por adición de tiempos parados. El movimiento urbano es de fácil olvido. El olvido es un dato básico de la dramaturgia. Cada lugar, al igual que vida, tiene un destino dramático cuya memoria es la única escapatoria”.

Virginie is a french architect, that lives in the

Raval district of Barcelona since 1995. She

has developed different artistic works from

the fine arts, graphics, architectural design,

scenography, to photography and audiovisual

creation.

The main axis of her work is the transformation

of the city, a glance at the urban memory.

“The city and its perpetual motion, tend to the

complexity of apparent disorder. Our inability

to perceive things as a whole and continuity

forces us to choose a focus point. We associate

profiles to reconstruct reality. The memory of

the transformation of the city works as a film,

by the addition of stills and frames of specific

moments. The urban movement is easily

forgotten. Forgetting is a basic fact of the drama.

Each place, like life, has a dramatic destination

whose memory is the only escape”.

Como puede verse claramente

en su primera colección: ‘Post

Apocalypse’; Beekay se niega

a ajustarse a los parámetros

populares y a menudo ideales

de nuestro tiempo.

La necesidad personal de

experimentar con los cortes

y las texturas, y su deseo de

explorar las posibilidades de la

fusión entre la cultura oriental

y occidental, le llevaron a

abandonar Pakistán, su país

natal y completar un grado de

moda en UCCA. Además, la

experiencia de haber trabajado

para Aminaka Wilmont por tres

temporadas le permitió lograr

una comprensión más profunda

del mundo de los materiales y

sus limitaciones.


Beekay’s refusal to conform to the

popular and often easy ideals of our

time along with his personal need to

experiment with cuts and textures

has led to the invention of his first

collection: ‘Post Apocalypse’.

His desire to explore the possibilities

in the fusion between eastern

and western culture, led Beekay

to leave his native Pakistan and

complete a fashion degree at

UCCA. Additionally, the experience

Influenciado por películas como Mad Max, Tank Girl, y Apocalypto, y videojuegos como Mortal Kombat, y Bioshock, Beekay pretende reinventar personajes arquetípicos de la nueva era en un intento de predecir visualmente esta forma de vida apocalíptica, si se quiere.

El cuero es muy utilizado como base resistente en la que telas más ligeras como mezclilla, lycra y algodón se aplican, ofreciendo por consiguiente más comodidad y un alto grado de flexibilidad. Incluyendo piezas que pueden ser utilizadas igualmente por ambos sexos.

Catharsis

Influenced by films like Mad Max, Tank Girl and Apocalypto, as well as platform games like Mortal Kombat and Bioshock, Beekay is reinventing archetypal New Age characters in an attempt to visually foretell a post-Apocalyptic way of life.

Leather is widely used, constructing a tough canvas on which, lighter fabrics such as denim, lycra and cotton are applied, consequently providing comfort and a high degree of flexibility. Inclusively, Beekay’s body-con pieces are equally wearable for both sexes.

Natural de Mar del Plata, Argentina, Sebastián Outes ha realizado diversos estudios artísticos desde fotografía hasta audiovisuales. En �00� se traslada a Barcelona donde comienza a experimentar con lo “urbano”. Ha participado en diversas exposiciones individuales y colectivas como “Equilibrio”, “Ete chic”, “en ultra” y ArteBa.

“Elegí Barcelona porque creo que es una ciudad empapada de creatividad por donde la veas, y motiva mucho a expresarse, desde cualquier punto de vista, mi trabajo nace en si de la calle, de su superficie, grabando con ceras sobre plástico, todos sus grafismos urbanos, que descubro, por ejemplo en las tapas de los alcantarillados, esta técnica que descubrí aquí el “frottage” ocupa ahora todo mi camino artístico”.

“Cuando era niño y jugaba con las monedas poniéndolas por debajo de un papel y frotando un grafito, aparecían ellas mismas, pero multiplicadas. Con el tiempo experimenté con el collage, otra técnica que actualmente utilizo, y ahora ambas disciplinas se han mezclado a la hora de trabajar con los crayones frotando sobre las aceras, así una transformación interior sucede tras esta experiencia vital”.

Born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, Sebastian Outes has conducted various studies from photography to visual art. In 2006 he moved to Barcelona where he began experimenting with more urban and experimental techniques. He has participated in various individual and collective exhibitions such as “Balance”, “Ete chic,” in ultra “and ArteBa.

“I chose Barcelona because I think it is a city full of creativity, and motivates you a lot to express yourself, from any point of view, my work comes in the street from its surface, recording with wax on plastic, all urban graphics, I find, for example on the covers of sewers, this technique, the “frottage” now fills my artistic path.

“When I was a kid I used to play with coins placing them under a paper and rubbing a graphite, themselves appeared, but multiplied. Over time I experimented with collage, another technique that I currently use, and now have blended the two disciplines when working with crayon rubbing on the sidewalks, and an inner transformation happens after this life experience. “

En estos tiempos de productores centella o de djs dinosaurios que tienen acaparada la industria, la lucidez musical le pertenece a pocos; y se podría también pensar que son pocos los prospectos de la escena electrónica actual que se diferencian del resto. Sin embargo, me atrevería decir que Alexander Tsotsos (a.k.a GummiHz) es uno de ellos.

Griego de nacimiento y con una fuerte formación musical, GummiHz ha rondado en el mundillo de la electrónica desde hace casi 15 años. Fue a partir de 2006 que una serie de publicaciones de 12” como “Arm me” (Treibstoff), “Select and bounce” (Mobilee/2006), ”Modern dynamic” (Mobilee), “Mind games” (Mobilee/2007), le dieron el empuje como DJ y productor reconocido. Y producciones como “Under the Sun” (Mobilee/2008), un tema exquisito de verano, o “High on percussion” (Earthrumental/2009) le han servido para afianzar sus pasos por el sinuoso camino de la electrónica.

Lo que tiene GummiHz es la capacidad de crear genuinas sensaciones musicales, sus momentos en el estudio crean amalgamas musicales que oscilan en un house profundo y un techno percusivo e introspectivo. Pero quizás su mayor peculiaridad es que en muchas de sus producciones imprime emociones que rascan la corteza cerebral del hemisferio izquierdo, el de los sentimientos.

“Como persona he sido influenciado por muchos estilos musicales; especialmente dentro de los estilos electrónicos; siempre he escuchado diferentes clases de house y techno. Siento que ahora que he producido algunos discos, cuento con más experiencia en lo que respecta a reflejar ideas en un contexto correcto y en desarrollar mi propio método de producción. Siempre trato de ser honesto con mis oídos y así producir temas que me gustaría escuchar en tiendas o clubes; es mi propia traducción de la música electrónica actual, algunas veces más techno y algunas veces más house. Desde mi punto de vista es importante diversificarse para lograr llegar al público y tratar de alcanzar siempre un poco más. Dado esto, no

me gusta que la gente trate de predecir cómo un disco de GummiHz sonará, sino que sólo de manera parcial, ya que siempre habrán sorpresas.”

Una de las prueba de esto es su más reciente publicación de 12”: “Sleepless Nights” en Mobilee (del que se desprendieron dos EPs y un álbum digital, el primero en el haber de GummiHz). “Sleepless Nights” es un potente track que, aunque lineal, adquiere fuerza derivada de la tonalidad de unas sugerentes y seductoras vocales (Malena Pérez). Y adquiriendo gusto por las vocales, en los tracks “Love Call” (del EP 1) y “I lose my” (del álbum digital), GummiHz experimenta por primera vez con su propia voz (a la que le ha dado el nombre de Emena).

“Emena es el alter ego que he usado por primera vez en un track, y debo decir que es un chico sensible! (risas). Inicialmente grabé las vocales como un borrador para quien fuera a hacerlas, para que las escuchara y pudiera trabajar con ellas, pero en lugar terminé usándolas. Las emociones en las vocales de los tracks son fuertes y han sido realmente ‘retocadas’; y capturan realmente el sentimiento correcto para los tracks.”

“Noté que la actitud y personalidad juegan un papel importante a la hora de encontrar un buen vocalista. Cantar es una forma de expresión muy íntima y he de decir que es algo que disfruto hacer algunas veces. No he tenido ninguna capacitación al respecto, sólo me apasiona expresarme y hacer cosas nuevas. No es algo que hago a menudo, canto raramente en el estudio y mis canciones favoritas en casa. Fue muy simpático cuando les puse por primera vez uno de los tracks a mis amigos y algunos me preguntaron quien era el cantante; cuando les dije que era yo se quedaron sorprendidos. Dedo decir que tengo mucha curiosidad de cómo la gente reaccionará, es la primera vez que he usado mi voz para un track.”

These days, in an electronic scene full of one-hit-wonder producers and dinosaur DJs that have taken over the industry for years, the musical spotlight can only be held by a few; and it could also be said that, on the current electronic scene, there are only a few who stand out from the rest. Nevertheless, I would go as far as to say that Alexander Tsotsos (a.k.a GummiHz) has the ability to be one of those.

Born in Greece and with a strong musical education, GummiHz has been around in the electronic world for almost 15 years. But it was not until 2006 that a series of 12” releases, such as “Arm me” (Treibstoff), “Select and bounce” (Mobilee/2006),”Modern dynamic” (Mobilee) and “Mind games” (Mobilee/2007), that propelled him to recognition as a DJ and producer. And with releases like “Under the Sun” (Mobilee/2008), a great summer track, and “High on percussion” (Earthrumental/2009), GummiHz has consolidated his route along the sinuous path of the electronic music scene.

What GummiHz certainly has the ability to create genuine musical sensations; his studio moments oscillate between a deep house and in an introspective and percussive techno. But perhaps his greatest feature is that many of his productions are able to imprint emotions which scratch the cerebral cortex of the left hemisphere, where feelings are found.

“As a person I am influenced by various music styles. Especially within dance music. I have always

been listening to different sorts of house and techno. I feel

I am more

experienced now having produced a few records, in putting an idea in the right context and really developing my production method. I always try to be honest to my ears and produce what I would like to listen to in record stores and clubs. It’s my own translation of modern dance music, sometimes more techno and sometimes more house. In my eyes it’s important to be diverse and to manage to deliver to your audience and try to reach out to more. On top of this, I don’t want people to be able to predict how a Gummihz record will sound. Only partly, as there has to be some surprise to it also.”

Proof of that is his latest 12” release, “Sleepless Nights” (from which he has squeezed out two EPs and a digital album, a first ever for GummiHz). “Sleepless Nights” is a powerful track that, even though it is lineal in its structure, grows in strength though a musical story empowered by Malena Perez’s seductive and suggestive vocals. And on the tracks “Love Call” (from Part 1 of the EP) and “I lose my” (from the digital album), GummiHz, acquiring the taste for singing, experiments for the very first time with his own voice (which he named Emena).

“Emena is an alter ego I am using for the first time in a track, quite a sensitive guy I must say! (laughs) I had initially recorded the vocal myself as a draft for a singer to listen to and work on, but I ended keeping it instead. The emotion in the voice is strong and it’s under heavy “make up”. It really captures the right feeling for the song.“

“I noticed that character and attitude also play a very important role in finding a good vocalist. Singing is a very intimate form of expression and I must say it’s something I enjoy doing at times. I haven’t had any special training, I just have a passion to express myself and reach out. It’s not something I do often, I only sing in the studio rarely and sing over favorite songs at home. It’s quite funny that I played one of the tracks with my voice to friends and a few people asked me about the singer. When I told them about it they were quite surprised. I must say I am very curious to see how people will respond, as it’s the first time I have used my voice for a song.”

Este dueto alemán es el claro ejem-plo de que para algunas personas la creación musical es una necesi-dad como el comer. No han parado desde sus inicios; Gina D Orio por su lado en la banda de breakcore EC8OR, y Annika Trost en Shizuo banda de corte garage electro punk. Llevan juntando su talento desde 1998 para darnos una mezcla de imprevisibilidad musical: “La electri-cidad surge de entre los polos” nos comentan.

Y no es de extrañar, ya que tanto jun-tas como por separado cuentan con un ritmo especial en el que prevalece lo experimental. Recorriendo la ex-tensa gama del electro punk rock, han creado su propio potente y cam-biante estilo musical. Su evolución es constante:

“Desde hace 30 años…cada no-che… todas las malditas noches…la evolución simplemente no para, es…es…es simplemente así: Es como la matrícula de un coche. Todos los co-ches del mundo tienen una, ¿y qué significa? Es una combinación de nú-meros y letras que tienes pero que solo la ves cuando una luz los hace brillar. Tú sabes que lo tienes y que está dentro de ti.”

Su música refleja una necesidad de renovación continua que se aprecia en cada uno de sus trabajos. Acla-mados por Thursten Moore (Sonic Youth) y teloneros de PEACHES, gracias a su talento, Marilyn Manson, Jon Spencer y la alineación original de Dinosour Jr. entre otros, han com-partido estudio con el dueto.

Aun con la idea fija de la renovación, siempre han mantenido una cosa en su trabajo, la visión femenina. Del

mismo modo, Cobra Killer ha aporta-do en su trabajos en individual una importante lección “el conocimiento de cómo No se deben hacer las co-sas”.

En el ámbito musical son reconoci-das no solo a nivel de producción, sino también a nivel de espectáculo, y es que para ellas una cosa va liga-da a otra:

“En el escenario se describe la vida con la

música, la visión de ella, y nuestra visión podría

ser igual a la de nuestros fans ya que somos uno

más de ellos.

“Los entendemos mejor que aquellos analistas con portafolios que se aho-gan con sus propias corbatas. Sa-bemos muy bien la responsabilidad que tenemos con todos – y eso es algo que muchos músicos, no impor-ta a qué género o nivel pertenezcan (underground, Hype o mainstream), no lo tienen claro. Justamente se tra-ta de eso. “

¿Es catártico su trabajo?

“Algunos sonidos trituradores van sorprendentemente bien para al-gunas personas: por un lado, algunos suelen abandonar conciertos de música

extremadamente eufórica, mien-tras otros se pueden sentir puri-ficados. Eso es porque algunos conciertos se experimentan como una experiencia límite que causa lo que se llama en psicología la purificación a través de temblor afectivo: la catarsis. En otras pala-bras: si la casa está temblando, el alma no estará tranquila.”

Su quinto trabajo Uppers & Dow-ners ( Monika Enterprise) muestra la banda más impredecible que nunca. Es un trabajo que seguro cumple con las expectativas de sus seguidores tanto en el aspecto musical como en sus presentacio-nes en vivo. Tanto las voces como los sonidos se van transformando de canción en canción, pasando de lo rasposo y oxidado a lo nítido y fluido.

Cobra Killer esta de vuelta para re-nombrar el término “experimental”, dándole un nuevo aire y latitud en el ámbito musical.

This German duo is the clear example that for some people the need to make music is as necessary as eat. They have not stop-ped since its inception, Gina D Orio in the breakcore band EC8OR, and Annika Trost in Shizuo, a garage electro punk band. They have joined their talent since 1998 to give us an unpredictable mix of music: “The electri-city comes from the poles,” they says.

And no wonder, both together and separa-tely have a special rate prevailing into the experimental. Traveling through the wide range of electro punk rock, creating their own powerful and evolving musical style. Its evolution is constant:

“For 30 years... every night ... every damn night ... just not for evolution, it’s ... it ... is simply this: It’s like a car registration. All cars in the world have one, and what does it mean? It is a combination of numbers and letters that only you but see when the light shines. You know what they have and that is within you.”

Their work reflects the need for continuous renewal and is shown in each of their wor-ks. Acclaimed by Thurstan Moore (Sonic Youth) and thanks to their talent, the duet have shared studio with Marilyn Manson, Jon Spencer and the original line Dinosour Jr. among many others.

Even with the fixed idea of self-renewal, they have always kept one thing in their work, the female viewpoint. Similarly, Co-bra Killer has given in their individual work an important lesson “the knowledge of how NOT to do things.”

In the music field they are recognized not only for their production style, but also for their spectacle on stage, because for them one thing is linked to the other:

“In the scenario we describe life with music, our vision, and our vision maybe is the same

as our fans vision, becau-se we know we are one of

them.”“We understand them better than those briefcase-carriers, who struggle themselves with their own ties....

We know so well about our responsibility to everybody-that is something a lot of musi-cians, no matter of what genre they are in, underground, hype or mainstream are not fond of. It’s about that”.

Is your work cathartic for you?

“Exhausting sounds go down surprisingly well with the listeners: the audience often leaves concerts of extreme music euphori-sized, some even feel purified.

That is because those concerts are under-gone as a limit experience that cause what in psychology is called purification through affective tremor: catharsis. In other words: if the house is shaking, the soul doesn’t stay calm.”

Their 5th work “Uppers & Downers” ( Monika Enterprise) shows the band more unpre-dictable than ever. For sure is a work that pleased the expectations of their followers, in the musical and performance way. Voices and sounds are transformed from song to song, going from the rusty and scratchy to the clear and fluid.

Cobra Killer is back to rename the experi-mental term, giving it a new look and latitu-de in the musical scene.

El calçot és una ceba tendra, blanca i dolça, que cuita al foc viu, es converteix en un regal per al paladar, capaç de satisfer els més exigents gourmets. El seu conreu comença els darres mesos de l´any, sembrant la llavor de la ceba; a mesura que creix la planta, cal anar-la calçant o sigui rodejant-la de terra. D´aqui ve el nom de Calçot.

Demos un vistazo a los más horripilantes, sangrientos y fan-tásticos films que este año nos han hecho enterrar las uñas en nuestro asiento, presentados en el Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico de Cataluña, Sitges ’09.

[Rec 2] / INAUGURACIÓNJaume Balagueró y Paco Plaza España. 2009Servido como entrante fuerte después de dos años de im-paciente espera para que Balagueró y Plaza nos presenta-ran la segunda parte de su pesadilla con textura de visión nocturna. Sólo quince minutos han pasado desde que esa molesta reportera fuera arrastrada hacia la oscuridad en la primera parte. Este es el punto de partida para [Rec]2; con un equipo SWAT preparado para entrar al devastado edifi-cio cubierto de plástico. Esta vez se buscan respuestas, e investigar qué clase de experimentos se llevaban a cabo en el ático del diabólico edificio del Eixample.

Has always puzzle me how such a beautiful place can take in such a huge amount of horrible movies (in the best of ways). Another year, another avalanche of zombies, cata-clysms, demons, evil kids and anything that the darkest side of your imagination can gather, have horror and scared this year’s Sitges’ audience.

ALIEN / HOMENAJESi las criaturas espaciales de terror tuvieran un nombre, ese sería Alien. Este año se ha escogido a esta siniestra criatura como imagen debido al 30º aniversario del clásico de Ridley Scott. Celebrado con una proyección especial de la edición original y la presencia de su productor Walter Hill, este año todo estuvo rodeado de extraños huevos, criaturas que son expulsadas del estomago y una sexy Sigourney Weaver.

ALIEN / HOMAGEIf horror in space creatures had a name, that would be Alien. Due to its 30th anniversary the Ridley Scott classic was the official image of this year festival. With a special projection of the original edition and the presence of its producer Walter Hill, this year was all about strange eggs, disgusting creatu-res coming out of stomachs and a sexy Sigourney Weaver.

After 2 years of impa-tient waiting Balagueró and Plaza bring us the second part of their night vision texture nightmare. Only fifteen minutes have passed since that annoying reporter was drag to the darkness. That’s the point where [•Rec]2 begins: with the SWAT team prepared to enter the devastated, plastic-cove-red apartment building. This time they come for answers, to see what kind of experiments were done in the attic of that building in the Eixample neighborhood.

Situado en uno de los edificios más altos del skyline barcelonés, con ��0 metros de altura, �� plantas y �� habitaciones, el edificio fue diseñado por el arquitecto francés Dominique Perrault, autor de la Gran Biblioteca de Francia en París.

El Hotel ME Barcelona está localizado en el Distrito ��@, en la esquina de Avenida Diagonal con Pere IV. Gracias a su altura y ubicación, los visitantes pueden disfrutar de vistas privilegiadas de las playas de la ciudad bañadas por el Mar Mediterráneo y de toda la ciudad y las montañas que la rodean, tanto desde las habitaciones como desde sus terrazas y restaurantes.

Desde cualquier de sus grandes ventanales resulta fácil distinguir la silueta de la Sagrada Familia, la Torre Agbar, el Tibidabo, Montjuïc o el mar Mediterraneo.

Creado por Dominique Perrault, una de las figuras más influyentes de la arquitectura

contemporánea, el hotel dejó la arquitectura interior y su decoración en manos de un equipo de expertos coordinado por el arquitecto y el estudio Corada Figueras Arquitectos.

El exterior del edificio está pensado para reflejar la luz y el movimiento de la ciudad durante el día, por lo que el edificio cambia con Barcelona a medida que pasan las horas.

Esto permite al rascacielos desprender una energía única, que sólo puede darse gracias a la luz de la costa mediterránea. Su estructura y forma fueron concebidas por Perrault como símbolo de tecnología y modernidad que se anima a llegar al cielo.

Esto llevó al arquitecto a utilizar líneas delgadas y limpias que diferencian al Hotel ME Barcelona de los clásicos edificios voluminosos que forman parte del skyline de las grandes ciudades.

TERRAZA


Standing at 120 metres high, with 29 storeys and 258 rooms the hotel is located in one of the tallest buildings on the Barcelona skyline.The building was designed by the French architect Dominique Perrault who designed the Grand Bibliothèque de France in Paris.

Thanks to its height and location, visitors can enjoy privileged views of the city’s beaches bathed by the Mediterranean, the entire city skyline and the mountains which surround it, both from their rooms and from the hotel’s terraces and restaurants.

From any of the hotel’s huge windows it is easy to make out the silhouette of the Sagrada Familia, the Agbar Tower, the Tibidabo, Montjuïc and the Mediterranean sea.

Created by Dominique Perrault, one of the most influential figures in contemporary

architecture, the hotel left the interior design and décor in the hands of a team of experts coordinated by the architect and the Corada Figueras Arquitectos studio.

The building’s exterior is designed to reflect the light and the movement of the city during the day, so the whole building changes along with Barcelona as the hours go by, causing the skyscraper to emit a singular energy only possible thanks to the light of the Mediterranean. Its structure and form where developed by Perrault as a symbol of technology and modernity daring to reach for the sk.

This induced the architect to use slender, clean lines which set Hotel ME Barcelona apart from the traditional bulky edifices which make up the skyline of many large cities.

En su interior, el lobby se presenta como un espacio fresco, donde los colores y un ambiente relajado son los protagonistas. Este mismo ambiente se refleja en los múltiples salones y salas de reuniones disponibles en el hotel, dotados con los más avanzados equipos tecnológicos pero sin olvidar aquello que distingue a la marca: su calidez y la búsqueda de una experiencia única y personal.

Inside, the lobby appears as a fresh, inviting space giving pride of place to the warm colours and an atmosphere relaxation.

This same ambience is reflected in the hotel’s multiple lounges and meeting rooms which are equipped with state of the art technology, but not forgetting however, what distinguishes the ME brand: its warmth and the aim to provide a unique and personal experience.
