Television's History At the beginning two models appeared:the mechanic television ideated by JhonBaird, and the electronic television

created by a Russo-Norte AmericanVladimir Zwuorikyn.Due to the existence of these twotelevision models, the Briton Government

decided to name an investigatingcommission to define the position of theState in television matter.

The television has the peculiarity of presentingvisual and auditory stimuli, it is based in pictureswith colors, music that presents the reality withmovement, this is very efficient to put messagesinto our mind.


The hildren and the Television

Some characteristics of the child and adolescentare:

In children smaller than 5 years a markedcapacity of fantasy exists.Under the 10 years the reasoning capacity like inthe adults it is limited.The early adolescence is a stage ofdisorganization of the personality.

The small children are not the only that imitatethe personages of the screen, nowadays we cansee some news like the following:

A group of adolescents that caused an accidentwhen they were imitating the scene of a moviein which some youths demonstrate their valuegoing to bed on a freeway.

A thirteen year-old boy that was shot in thehead while it was playing to the Russian

roulette that he had seen in a movie.

Leonard Eron, said:"There isn't some doubt, that the repeatedexhibition to the violence in television is one of thecauses of the aggressive behaviour, the crime andthe violence in the society.


The effects of the television on the children and

adolescent began to study when the habits of thechildren changed with the arrival of thetelevision.

It is calculated that a child looks by three hoursof television per day, this it influences so muchpositive, as negatively.

Among the violent acts that are seen by the children

there are: murders, wars, punches, hits, stabs,shootings, kicks, violent accidents and destruction ofproperties, among others.

An investigation carried out in the University of

Pennsylvania gave the following results:100 pre-school observed before and after seeingTVGroup I: cartoons that contained many violent and

aggressive acts.Group II: cartoons without any class of violenceConclusions . Real differences in both groups, ingroup I the children were more fighters with

partners, arguers, disobedient with authority andmore impatient.

the children pass watching the television has adirect relationship with their weight, every day,children and adolescent view, on average, 15 TVfood advertisements.

Tobacco and AlcoholThe companies producers of alcohol and

tobacco invest big sums of money in publicitythat induce the youths to consume theirproducts. These drugs are presented indramatic programs, musical videos, even in thefamily schedule. In some, the consumption

appears as negative in the adolescents while itis shown as positive in the adults.


It has been proven that the television is one ofthe causes of the school failure, besides thedecrease of the capacity of attention and theintellectual concentration. That is verifiable inall the age segments and in all the means.

The children need to be in contact with their

parents and with children of their age. when thechildren watch too much hours a day, they show atendency to the introspection, isolation and difficultyto related.


Sex and Sexuality Every year, children and adolescents see 14000references, insinuations and jokes in connectionwith the sexuality and less than 170 referencestalk about the abstinence, the illnesses of sexualtransmission or the pregnancy. The familyschedule is not respected.

CONCLUSION

The television can have a positive influence as anegative one on the children and adolescents,depending on the time dedicated to this, theelected programs, and the place and the paperthat this occupies in the family life, the televisionis not something that must fear, but demands usunderstanding and it implies certain specialresponsibilities from the parents, of the TVstations, of the teachers and of other people thatinfluence in the child's life.

To limit and to focalize the time dedicated to watch TVOffer other alternatives apart from TVTo see programs in family and to discuss their content.To turn off the television during the hours of the mealsand of the time of study.The television should not interfere in the schedules ofdream of the children.

To draw off the television of the children's andadolescents room

Set a good example
