En avión

Una de las formas más económicas de viajar en avión haciaDublín es contratando los servicios de las compañías de bajocoste: Aer Lingus, Click Air, Ryanair, sobre todo si se realizan lasreservas de avión y de maletas con bastante antelación al viaje,excepto en agosto. El aeropuerto se encuentra a 10 km delcentro de la ciudad y está conectado con numerosas lineas deautobuses que te llevan tanto al centro como a otras ciudadesde Irlanda.

Existen tres tipos de autobuses para llegar al centro de laciudad:

Aircoach servicio exprés que conecta con el centro de laciudad y los principales hoteles. Los autobuses salen cada 15minutos y tardan unos 30 minutos en hacer el recorrido, elprecio son 7€ el billete sencillo y 12€ la ida y la vuelta.Dublin Bus ofrece un exprés AirLink servicio (rutas 747 y748)cada 10 minutos, el precio son 6€ la ida y 10€ la ida y vuelta.Dublin Bus, también ofrece tarifas más económicas parallegar al centro o otros lugares de la ciudad pero las rutasno son exprés. El precio son 2,30€, los autobuses pasan cada10-25 minutos según la ruta y pueden tardar hasta 1 horadependiendo del tráfico. La línea 16A y la 41 llegan hastaO'Connell st.

Un taxi del aeropuerto al centro puede costar entre 25 y 30€

Lo más barato es sacarse un ticket para el bus, según dure tuestancia en Dublín y según quieras gastarte asi podrás comprarel ticket,los hay desde 7 días hasta 4 semanas,el de 7 días cuesta21 euros y sirve para 4 tipos de autobuses(pero si quieresahorrar aun un poquito más tienes que ir a comprar el ticket encualquier supermercado y decir que eres estudiante y te saldrápor 17.30€ lo que si hay que tener cuidado es de que no te pille

el revisor del autobus ya que si te pide el ticket y le enseñasel de estudiante tambien tienes que enseñarle la tarjeta deestudiante,en caso de que te diga que no vale el ticket tienesque hablar con los del colegio para que te hagan la tarjeta deestudiante). por la noche el último autobus sale de la calle de O´Conell a las 23:30 y luego los siguientes son los nocturnos quevalen 4 euros.

Irlanda es un país conocido por su whiskey y su cervezaentre otras cosas, por lo tanto llevarse una botella de whiskeyirlandés estaría bien. En Dublín también hay muy buenchocolate, la chocolatería más famosa es Butler´s, situada enGrafton St. ( la calle más céntrica de Dublín)o en Nassau

Street(enfrente del Trinity College). En Nassau Street, hay unatienda llamada Kilkenny donde encontrás artesanía irlandesa ylos típicos jerseys de lana de la región de Donegal; hay variastiendas en esa calle que venden productos artesanales detweed o lana. Grafton Street está plagado de tiendas: podemosencontrar un almacén de gran lujo en Dublín llamado BrownThomas, donde venden el maquillaje más exclusivo así comograndes firmas como Chanel, Louis Vuitton , etc.. En esacalle encontramos tiendas como River Island, Warehouse,Accesorize, etc...todas estas tiendas son de moda para mujeres.El paraíso de la música está en HMV, también en Grafton,donde se puede encontrar de todo. Al final de esta calle,está St. Stephen´s Green (un parque precioso), al lado hay uncentro comercial bastante grande. En la calle paralela a Grafton,South William, encontramos un edificio victoriano convertidoen centro comercial, Powerscourt.

En la zona de Temple Bar, el barrio bohemio de Dublín,encontramos tiendas de ropa vintage, ad-hoc, hippie o heavy( todas ellas en Crown Alley), hay una tienda de decoraciónmuy original en Cecilia St. llamada Urban Outfitters ( tambiénvende ropa). Toda esta zona está llenas de tiendas de este tipo.Existe un mercadillo de libros los sábados y otro de ropa losdomingos.

Al otro lado del río Liffey, está O'Conell St. que cuenta con algúncentro comercial, una zapatería llamada Schuh y una tiendallamda Penneys, donde se puede encontrar ropa de todo tipopara cualquier edad a precios realmente bajos. Cerca de O'Conell st están Henry st y Mary st llenas de tiendas y centroscomerciales.

Una recomendación es si viajais a Irlanda no os lleveis lamaleta muy cargada ya que seguro que en vuestra estanciacomprareis mas de dos y tres cosas y a la vuelta seguro queos pasareis en el peso establecido por vuestra compañia devuelos.

La tecnologia al igual que la ropa esta muy barata en Dubln,puedes adquirir peliculas por 10 Euros menos de lo que tepuede costar en España, tan solo que tienes que ahondarmucho en tu busqueda para encontrar una en español. Lomismo ocurre con los cedés de musica.

Dependiendo de tu economia asi podras optar por diversasopciones. En el Trinity College es muy barato el menú del diaque consiste en un plato caliente de comida por menos de4 euros (la verdad que hay veces que la comida no es muyagradable pero otras sí merece la pena). Puedes optar tambien,por ir a un restaurante donde mínimo te gastaras 6 euros.También puedes ir a los McDonals o Burger King que son máscaros que en España pero tienen lo mismo,y tambien hay otrashamburgueserias irlandesas que son más baratas. Otra opciónes optar por ir al supermercado y comprarte un bocadillohecho con los ingredientes que tu elijas (precio entre 3 y 5

euros)o hacertelo tu mismo comprandote una barra pequeñade pan y una bandeja de embutido(por cierto el embutido esespañol)sobre los 3 euros.

Beba y salga

Una disco muy buena para visitar es "EL CLUB M" donde sitienes suerte y el dia de tu visita han repartido tickets podraspasar gratis y sino la entrada te costara 12 euros con unaconsumición,en estas discos no os penseis que vais a encontrarreggaeton ya que en irlanda eso no existe,allí es mucho house-techno-proggresive-dance,lo que si puede ser que encontreisa vuestra media naranja ayi aunque solo sea por un dia. Lo masbarato para tomar es el blue vodka 6 euros. Las consumicionessi son bastante caras en los bares una cerveza puede oscilardependiendo del bar desde los 5 hasta los 6 euros, y un cubalibre de 3.5 mililitros de alcohol desde los 7.50 hasta los 8.50euros,en fin muy caro.

Otro bar muy bonito y con un ambiente perfecto es elZANZIBAR donde podras tomar cocteles por solo 5 euros y latipica cerveza irlandesa por 5.20

Cerca del Club M está Eamon Dorans, un bar donde ponen rocky hay bastantes estudiantes. Por temple Bar hay bastantes pubsdonde se esta bien, lo unico que hay que hacer es ser mayorde edad.

En la otra zona de Temple Bar, esta Parliament Street, dondeesta un sitio llamado Turk´s Head. Alli encontraremos un tipode musica parecido al de las discotecas de España( reggaetony eso). Es un sitio muy grande que cuenta con varias plantas,no hay que pagar entrada.

Bar en el centro de Dublín. Otro hotel de ese nivel sería elBewley´s , a 10 minutos en bus del centro, es un edificoprecioso de ladrillo situado en un barrio de casas victorianasconocido como Georgian Dublin. En O´Conells Street, hay otrohotel de lujo llamado Gresham. Por último, en el sur de Dublínencontramos el Radisson SAS st. Helen y el Royal MarineHotel en Dun Laoghaire.

Es recomendable que todos los que viajen a Irlanda llevenconsigo la tarjeta de sanidad Europea que se hace en lasoficinas de la seguridad social por lo que pueda suceder, ya quesi no la llevaís y necesitaís ir a un doctor,la consulta te puedesalir por unos 50 euros. Irlanda es un país en el que es muy fácilcoger un catarro ya que tan pronto llueve como hace calor ohace frío y sale el sol. Y por si sois muy sensibles y os resfriaiscon mucha facilidad no os preocupeis hay farmacias por todoslados.

Las cartas del astrónomo y cartógrafo griego Claudio Ptolomeoproveen las primeras referencias de habitación humana delárea conocida ahora como Dublín. Alrededor del 140 d. C.el astrónomo se refirió a un asentamiento que llamó EblanaCivitas. El asentamiento Dubh Linn data quizás del primer sigloa. C., posteriormente se construyó un monasterio, aunque laciudad se estableció alrededor del año 841 por los vikingos.

La ciudad moderna conserva el nombre irlandés anglificadodel antiguo y original nombre irlandés de este último. Despuésde la invasión normanda, Dublín se convirtió en el centroclave de poder militar y judicial, con la mayoría de su poderconcentrado en el castillo de Dublín hasta la independencia.Desde el siglo XIV hasta finales del siglo XVI Dublín y susalrededores, conocido como la empalizada, formaron la mayorzona de Irlanda bajo control gubernamental. Durante variossiglos el parlamento estuvo situado en Drogheda, pero se

trasladó permanentemente a Dublín después de que EnriqueII conquistase el Condado de Kildare en 1504.

Dublín también tenía administración ciudadana local vía sucorporación desde la edad media. Representaba el gremiooligárquico hasta que se reformó en 1840 aumentando laslíneas democráticas. Desde el siglo XVII la ciudad se expandiórápidamente, ayudada por la Wide Streets Commission. Porcorto período, Dublín fue la segunda ciudad del imperiobritánico después de Londres y la quinta ciudad más grande deEuropa. La mayoría de la arquitectura más notable de la ciudad,data de esa era y está considerada como su edad de oro. Laafamada fábrica de cerveza Guiness también se estableció enesa época. En 1742 se tocó por primera vez el "Messiah" deHandel en el New Music Hall en la calle Fishamble con unaparticipación de 26 chicos y 5 hombres combinados de loscoros de las catedrales de San Patricio y de la Iglesia de Cristo.

El periodo de 1800 consistió en una disminución relativa conel crecimiento industrial de Belfast; en 1900 la población deBelfast era casi el doble. Mientras que Belfast era prósperae industrial, Dublín se había convertido en una ciudad demiseria y división de clases, construida sobre los restos degrandeza perdida, mejor descrita en la novela Strumpet City,por James Plunkett, y en los trabajos de Sean O'Casey. Dublínera todavía el centro primario de administración y transportede la mayoría de Irlanda, aunque completamente al margende la revolución industrial. El Alzamiento de Pascua de 1916ocurrió en el centro de la ciudad, ocasionando gran parte de sudeterioro físico. La guerra civil anglo-irlandesa y la guerra civilinglesa contribuyeron todavía más a su destrucción, dejandomuchos de sus mejores edificios en ruinas. El estado libreirlandés reconstruyó muchos de estos edificios y trasladó elparlamento a Leinster House.

Durante La Emergencia (Segunda guerra mundial), hasta 1960,Dublín permaneció como una capital fuera del tiempo: Elcentro de la ciudad en particular se mantuvo en reposoarquitectónico lo que hizo que ésta fuese perfecta para filmarpelículas, con muchas producciones como The Blue Max, yMy Left Foot, capturando las vistas de ese tiempo. Hecho quesirvió como fundación de éxitos posteriores en cinematografíay producción de películas. Con el aumento de prosperidad,se introdujo la arquitectura moderna en la ciudad, aunque secomenzó una vigorosa campaña para restaurar la grandeza dela época jorgiana de las calles de Dublín, en lugar de perderla grandeza para siempre. Desde 1997, el paisaje de Dublínha cambiado inmensamente, con enormes construccionesprivadas y de agencias de transporte y negocios. Algunas delas calles más conocidas siguen conservando el nombre delPub o el negocio que ocupaba el lugar antes de su cierre oreconstrucción.

Desde los comienzos del gobierno Anglo-normando en el sigloXII, la ciudad ha servido como capital de la isla de Irlanda envarias entidades geopolíticas:

Desde 1922, con la división de la isla, se convirtió en la capitaldel Estado Libre Irlandés (1922–1949) y ahora es la capital dela República de Irlanda. (Muchos de estos estados coexistierono compitieron entre el mismo marco de tiempo rivalizandoentre teoría constitucional irlandesa o británica). Uno de losmemoriales para conmemorar esos tiempos consiste en elJardín del recuerdo.

En 1974, el centro de Dublín fue escenario de varios atentadosterroristas con coche-bomba, que causaron la muerte dedecenas de personas.

Literatura, teatro y artes

La ciudad posee historia literaria de fama mundial, habiendoproducido muchas figuras literarias prominentes, incluyendopremios Nobel como William Butler Yeats, George BernardShaw y Samuel Beckett. Otros escritores influyentes de Dublínson Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift y el creador de Drácula,Bram Stoker. Sin embargo, es discutiblemente más famosacomo la localidad de los excelentes trabajos de James Joyce.Dublineses es una colección de historias cortas de Joyce sobreincidentes y personajes típicos residentes de la ciudad deprincipios del siglo XX. Su trabajo más célebre, Ulises estátambién establecido en Dublín y lleno de detalles tópicos. Otraserie de escritores afamados de Dublín son: J.M. Synge, SeanO'Casey, Brendan Behan, Maeve Binchy, and Roddy Doyle. Lasmayores bibliotecas y museos de Irlanda se encuentran enDublín, incluyendo el National Print Museum of Ireland y laBiblioteca Nacional de Irlanda.

ElAbbey se fundó en 1904 por un grupo que incluía a Yeats conel fin de promover el talento de la literatura indígena. Coleccionesque datan desde el 2700 a. C. hacia adelante y que estándibujados en Asia, Oriente medio, África del Norte y Europa. Amenudo se ofrecen al público los trabajos de artistas localesalrededor de St. Stephen Green, el principal parque públicoen el centro. Además, a lo largo de la ciudad se encuentrangrandes galerías de arte, incluyendo el museo irlandés de artemoderno, la galería nacional, la galería municipal Hugh Lane, elcentro de arte de la ciudad, la galería Douglas Hyde, el centroProject Arts y la academia hibérnica real.

En el centro de Dublín también se encuentra el parque de StStephen's Green.
