Pastor’s Corner

Next Sunday, we welcome Fr. Miguel Alvizures, originally from Guatemala and now serving as a priest in the Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky. This diocese while in the United States is considered a missionary diocese. Please remember to use your Mission Co-Op envelope as your generous contribution assists our brothers and sisters in a different part of our country. Thank you for your generosity to the missions.

Next Sunday, we will need to remove everything from the Church so that it can be painted. We need to remove items from the balcony, the back of Church, the books in the pews and all of the movable items in the sanctuary. Also, we will need some hands to strip out the carpets of the Church. Many hands can make the work go by quickly. We will begin this project at 1:30 following mass. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this work.

St. Paul offers us encouragement with our daily struggle against sin and temptation. St. Paul describes his “thorn in the flesh” and how he asked God to remove it. God did not but rather responded with powerful words, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” WOW!!

St. Paul learns that despite his struggle, he learns to rely on the power of God to all things. He identifies and knows his struggle and everyday he surrenders it into the hands of Jesus Christ and relies on Jesus to help him through his struggle. Scholars speculate what was St. Paul’s “thorn in the flesh.” I like the suggestion that it was kept purposefully vague so that anyone of us could find hope in his words. Everyone struggles with different things. Things that can feel overwhelming in our lives. Things we would like to remove in our lives. Whatever our own particular, “thorn in the flesh” may be, we can have confidence in Jesus and the power of his grace. “My grace is sufficient for you.”

bienvenida al Padre. Miguel Alvizures, originario de Guatemala y ahora sirviendo como sacerdote en la Diócesis de Lexington, Kentucky. Esta diócesis en los Estados Unidos se considera una diócesis misionera. Recuerde su sobre para las Misiones ya que su generosa contribución ayuda a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en otra parte de nuestro país. Gracias por su generosidad a las misiones. El próximo domingo, vamos a mover todo de la Iglesia para que pueda ser pintada. Necesitamos quitar artículos del balcón, la parte posterior de la iglesia, los libros en los bancos y todos los artículos móviles en el santuario. Además, necesitaremos algunas manos para quitar las alfombras de la Iglesia. Muchas manos pueden hacer que el trabajo pase rápidamente. El trabajo empezará a la 1:30 de la tarde. Gracias de antemano por su ayuda con este trabajo. San Pablo nos ofrece aliento con nuestra lucha diaria contra el pecado y la tentación. San Pablo describe su "aguijón en la carne" y cómo le pidió a Dios que lo quitara. Annual Shore Trip Wednesday, July 18th

We will be leaving at 9:00 a.m.

from Our Lady of Mercy parking lot. (132 So. 5th St.)

We will spend the day at Island Beach Park and the evening at Seaside Heights for the boardwalk. We will be returning approximately 11:00. The cost $10 (gas &

beach prices). Bring your own spending money.

Special Religious Event Opportunity St. Anthony's Monday Evening Mass/Novenas Every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in St. Anthony's Church

The evening includes Mass followed by the Novenas of the Miraculous Medal, St. Anthony, and St. Jude,

during Eucharistic Adoration. It last about 1:15 minutes.

� Do you have a non-Catholic family member or friend who seems interested in knowing more

about the Catholic faith? � Are you or do you know someone who was

baptized Catholic but has been away from the Church?

� Are you or do you know someone who has been coming to Mass for a while, but is not Catholic.

All it may take is for you to INVITE THEM!!!

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a program designed to help non-Catholics and non-practicing Catholics learn more about Catholicism through a series of classes, discussions, prayer times and ceremonies. There is no obligation to join the Catholic Church.

The RCIA program will begin in September but… Now is the time to ask them.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS YANKEE BUS TRIP

Sacred Heart's Father Jacob W. Post Council 14464 is sponsoring a bus trip on Wednesday, August 1st to Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees take on the Baltimore Orioles at 1:05pm. We will depart from Sacred Heart at 10am and travel by Easton Coach and will return to the church immediately after the game. It is unknown how long the Court’s order will remain in place. I want you to know that the Diocese of Allentown has always cooperated with the Office of the Attorney General and the Grand Jury process. Neither I, nor the Diocese, nor any diocesan official has attempted to block or delay release of the Report. I will be addressing the topic of clergy abuse in more detail after the Grand Jury Report is released. 2018 SACRED HEART PARISH PICNIC

The Annual Sacred Heart Church Picnic (Bath, PA) will be held on July 13, 14 and 15.
