The Government appro-ved yesterday in the Co-uncil of Ministers the award of the protection

works in the Portalada area on the CG1 road. Almost a year ago, after a landslide on August 10, 2019, it hit the Punt de Troba-da shopping center, at the sug-gestion of the head of Territorial Planning, Jordi Torres. Specifica-lly, the work has been tendered to the company UTE Unitas-In-accés and will cost 4,832,323.77 euros.

To this amount will also be ad-ded an expenditure of 86,852.04 euros for quality controls to be carried out by the company Pi-rineu Inspecció i Control. Howe-ver, the Minister Spokesman, Eric Jover, did not specify what the total figure of the costs is, re-calling that there is an alert and monitoring system in the area since the accident and, therefo-re, it had to face various econo-mic expenses such as those cor-responding to the installed mac-hinery, direct companies or the administration staff itself. He reported that these costs «will be transferred to those respon-sible.»

The fact is that the General Administration plans to present the relevant reports for its defen-se and that the amount invested will be returned to them at a ti-me, said Jover, «in which the sta-te budgets are especially tense.» He also insisted that the source of the incident was «that the ne-cessary maintenance work was not carried out on the site in or-der to ensure safety».

IMPACT ON TRAFFIC / Work in the area will last 12 months, du-ring which the execution of a foot must be carried out in or-der to stabilize the submerged part of the road retaining wall

The works in the Portalada area will cost almost 5 million eurosThe deadline for completing the protection work will be 12 months and traffic will not be cut off

COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

A new coronavirus positive raises to seven the active cases

Another case of coronavirus in the Principality is confirmed, after a regrowth of six cases linked to a work by Escaldes-Engordany was detected. Thus, there are seven ac-tive cases at the moment, which

are part of the same source of infec-tion. In fact, the Minister Spokes-man, Eric Jover, stressed in a press conference that the latter person, who is asymptomatic, was detec-ted from the trace of contacts. He therefore said it was a «rather res-tricted» outbreak. None of them

are admitted to the Hospital Nos-tra Senyora de Meritxell.

On the other hand, he reported that the last sixty TMA tests were negative and that screening pro-cesses will continue to be develo-ped with the aim of controlling in-fections.

In this regard, the Administra-tion also announced that those in charge of imposing sanctions on people who do not wear a mask will be both the police and the He-alth Inspectors. In addition, it is proposed to strengthen the infor-mation at the borders regarding the measures ruled before the Co-vid-19. Tourists will have to pay the penalties under the same conditi-ons as residents of Andorra. «If so-meone fails to do so, they will be as-ked to pay,» said Jover. H

However, the Minister Spokesman assured that traffic would not be cut du-ring this period of development of the works to improve and strengthen the area for the be-nefit of people traveling on this road in Sant Julià de Lòria.

The award of the protection works in the Portalada area was carried out by ordinary national competition with an open proce-dure. Currently, the area is con-sidered at risk 1. H

Extension of the Margineda school

Technical assistance against snow avalanches

Tender for the works of La Peguera

The Government conveys the concern to the SCJ

Mobility similar to 2019 at borders

The works for the extension of the high school in the center of La Margineda were tendered. It is planned to build an annex buil-ding that will connect with the existing one and will have two floors: the first, will have seven classrooms and the upper one, will be open. Bids can be submit-ted until August 20.

Until August 20, the bids for the technical assistance work may be submitted in order to respond to the needs and importance of en-suring the safety of roads and pe-ople against avalanches affecting the network of roads.

The Peguera road was cut by cracks that appeared on the ro-ad and that, due to the rain, en-ded up causing a landslide whe-re part of the slope went down, accompanied by stones, earth and vegetation. Bids for the works can be submitted until August 7.

The Executive conveyed to the High Council of Justice its con-cern about the situation that has been generated and points out that it should be the body that should guide the elements of ma-nagement and organization of judicial activity and ensure the good operation.

Mobility figures at the borders in the last two weeks are close to those of the same period last ye-ar. In French it is slightly higher. On a positive note, Jover said, tou-rism and visitor entry are key to the country.

33 Despite the fact that the Pont de la Margineda “looks good”, said the Minister Spokesman Eric Jover, the Council of Minis-ters approved the tender to car-ry out structural consolidation work on the right stirrup. The re-ason is to avoid possible erosion and damage, as the buttress of the bridge rests on unstable allu-vial sediments consisting of dif-ferent levels that would degra-de when it is in contact with river waters. Therefore, it is planned

The works on the Margineda bridge have been put out to tender due to the danger of the right stirrup collapsing

to build a barrier of micropyles around it in order to protect the heritage without any visual im-pact or any modification of the original bridge.
