1ª SEMANA CULTURAL LATINA DE ANTIGUA & BARBUDA

¿Te gusta escribir y estás aprendiendo español en Antigua y Barbuda? Esta es tu ocasión de lucirte. Las Embajadas y Consulados de Venezuela, Cuba, República Dominicana, Colombia, Brasil y España presentes en Antigua y Barbuda, con la colaboración del Museo de Antigua y el patrocinio de la librería The Best of Books y el restaurante Havana Kafé, convocan el primer certamen literario escolar “SEMANA CULTURAL LATINA DE ANTIGUA & BARBUDA”. En él podrán participar todos aquellos residentes en Antigua y Barbuda que estén matriculados en algún curso de español (escuela primaria y secundaria, educación superior, universidad y adultos). Se aceptarán los siguientes tipos de textos: Poema (Categoría A: mínimo 10 versos, Categoría B: mínimo 20 versos, Categoría C: mínimo 25 versos) Redacción (Categoría A: mínimo 100 palabras, Categoría B: mínimo 200 palabras , Categoría C: mínimo 350 palabras)

Sobre alguno de los siguientes temas: - “Mi biografía lingüística” - “Amigos lejanos y/o diferentes” - “Un país, una ciudad, un pueblo de habla hispana” - “El origen hispano de algunos topónimos caribeños: Antigua, Barbuda, Redonda, Montserrat” - “Las lenguas del Caribe” - “Aprender lenguas no ocupa lugar” - “Historias de Sancho Panzas y Don Quijotes” - “Historias de burros y/o de caballos” - “Historias medioambientales” Categorías: A- Escuela primaria B - Escuela secundaria C - Educación superior/adultos: A-Levels, ASC, UWI, Instituto Venezolano, ABIIT. Se concederán tres premios por categoría. Los premiados serán informados personalmente acerca del momento de entrega de premios, que tendrá lugar durante la 1ª SEMANA CULTURAL LATINA DE ANTIGUA Y BARBUDA (8-19 abril 2011). El jurado puede dejar desierto algún premio, si así lo estimara oportuno. El plazo de presentación de los textos termina el día 16 de abril de 2011. Cada concursante enviará un solo texto a semanalatinaantigua@gmail.com en documento Word, señalando nombre y apellido(s), edad, institución educativa donde estudia español en Antigua & Barbuda, categoría en la que participa, número de teléfono y correo electrónico.

1ST LATIN CULTURAL WEEK OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

Literary Competition

Do you like to write and are learning Spanish in Antigua and Barbuda? This is your chance to shine. The Embassies and Consulates of Venezuela, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Brazil and Spain present in Antigua and Barbuda, in collaboration with the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, and sponsored by the bookshop The Best of Books and the restaurant Havana Kafé, are hosting the first literary school competition “LATIN CULTURAL WEEK OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA”. Any resident of Antigua and Barbuda attending Spanish course on the island may participate. The following genres of texts will be accepted:

Story (Category A: minimum 100 words, Category B: minimum 200 words, Category C: minimum 350 words) Featuring any of the following topics:

- “My linguistic biography” - “My pen-pals from abroad” - “A Spanish-speaking country, city or village” - “The Hispanic origin of certain Caribbean place names: Antigua, Barbuda, Redonda, Montserrat” - “Language of the Caribbean” - “Learning a language doesn’t hurt” - “Stories of Sancho Panzas and Don Quixote” - “Stories of donkeys and horses” - “Environmental stories”

Categories: A - Primary school B - Secondary school C - Tertiary education/adults: A-Levels, ASC, UWI, Venezuelan Institute, ABIIT. Three prizes per category will be granted. The awardees will be informed prior to the awards ceremony, which will take place during the 1st Latin Cultural Week of Antigua (8-19 April 2011). The jury reserves the right to withhold any prizes if the candidates’ texts are not up to standards. The deadline for text entries is 16 April 2011. Each candidate will submit a single text to the following e-mail address: semanalatinaantigua@gmail.com as a Word document, stating: first name, surname(s), age, school, category, telephone number and e-mail address.
