Preparing for rapid change
The maritime industry is confronted with major
challenges, such as rapidly expanding interna-
tional trade and the impact on the global
shipping and ports sectors, the impacts of
business cycles, global competition, resource-
induced geopolitics, strategic alliances, complexsupply chains, multi-national and multi-cultural
manpower, environmental and safety constraints,
and so on.
In order to find adequate strategic and tactical
answers to this multitude of challenges, maritime
executives at the strategic and operational levels
have to be trained in new domains of expertise,
in particular if they have a specialised (technical,
commercial, financial, ict) background and are
confronted with the complexities of other
professionals.
The Maritime Executive MBA helps managers to
widen their scope, increase their knowledge and
skills, and prepare and equip them with the
hands-on experience and tools to address
strategic challenges of today and tomorrow.
The best practices, taught by a high-level,
international faculty at Euromed Management,
will contribute to achieve the companys
objectives, improve its performance and
ultimately guarantees its continuity.
A boost to your maritimecareer
The Maritime Executive MBA attracts high
potential executives to its programme. They
learn from sharing their experiences and best
practices, but also from the intensive exposure
to the best professionals, experts and
academics in maritime and management
professions. This propels the participants in the
Maritime Executive MBA to a new dimension
of professionalism and will boost their career
prospects.
A tool for internationalco-operation for the maritimecommunity
Apart from the fundamental transformation of
the participants themselves, the Maritime
Executive MBA offers additional benefits for the
maritime industry and its companies. It
facilitates a true blending of the knowledge and
experience ofall related maritime sectors within
the broad maritime cluster, such as shipping,
ports, shipbuilding, marine equipment, offshore,
yachting, maritime services, navy, maritime
research, but also fisheries, inland shipping,
maritime policy and maritime related sectors
(logistics, industry, transport). This is a unique
and enriching experience between the
participants and the experts teaching in the
programme. This results in the forging of
durable bonds of friendship and professional
networks. The Maritime Executive MBA therebybecomes a genuine tool for international
co-operation within the maritime community.

The Maritime
Executive MBA:an executive programme
A Flexible Programme
In todays business world both companies and individuals
have to be flexible to tackle changing environments.
The Maritime Executive MBA has been built to be flexible, to
offer participants:
- The choice of the training format best adapted to ones
personal situation when entering the programme
- The possibility of switching from one format to
another if the participants personal and/or
professional situation requires it
Our ambition is to offer each participant his/her
personal Path to the Maritime Executive MBA
We therefore offer one programme in three formats:
- Part Time 2 year Path / Part Time Intensive 1
year Path / Part Time Modular Path
- You can at any point switch from one Format to
another.
The Modular Path is the most flexible Path: it is
fully personalized. It allows a participant to start
the MBA at any time, and to complete the MBA
over a period of 1 to 4 years.
The Maritime Executive MBA, as an executive programme
targets the professionals in the maritime cluster and
related sectors who already have a basic academic
education and a number of years of hands-on experience
in a maritime company, institution or public service. The
maritime industry is not limited to shipping, ports,
shipbuilding and marine equipment, but includes all theothers sectors within the broad maritime cluster, such as
the offshore industry, maritime services, yachting, navy,
research and education, and fisheries.

Block 5The Leadership Project
For a company, achieving sustainable performance
depends, to a great extent, on the quality of its
leadership. The question for businesses is how todevelop the skills of their managers, the future
leaders of tomorrow? Like a top athlete, the mana-
ger must train and learn from each situation and
work to rebound in time to be at his best every day.
In this context, classical training methods can only
provide partial results on the improvement of mana-
gerial behaviour because it includes only a small
part of the learning scenario. The Leadership Project
addresses these issues through a learning by doing
approach.
It consists of:
- An initial Assessment Center that helps identifying
the participants capacities- A Leadership Project
- Leadership Workshops
- Courses on Leadership & Sustainable perfor-
mance and on Change Management
- Personal Executive Coaching sessions.
Block 6The Maritime Executive MBA is
concluded by a Strategy Thesis Project
module. The participant has to prove
that, based on real world challenges, he
or she is able to integrate the various
elements of the modules into a holistic
approach. Ideally, the subject of such a
thesis project should be related to thestudents company or organisation. The
results of such a project could thus be
useful to the company and even
implemented upon graduation.

CorradoAntoniniChairman, FINCANTIERI
Chairman, Federation of the Sea
(Italian Maritime Cluster)
By targeting the broad maritime cluster, inclu-
ding the shipbuilding industry, the Maritime
Executive MBA is a good opportunity for managers to
take a step back from their day to day business within
their own sector and to develop a deeper understanding
of all other sectors within the maritime cluster and to learn
the broad range of management skills that will enhance
their management qualities. As chairman of the Italian
Maritime Cluster organisation, and member of the Euro-pean Network of Maritime Clusters, I welcome this initia-
tive. As chairman of one of Europes largest shipbuilders,
involved in both civil and naval shipbuilding, I am convin-
ced that companies today must have the ability to com-
pete and cooperate at the same time. Therefore we have
decided to join the Maritime Executive MBA Corporate
Network and to contribute to this programme with the
aim to create lasting relationships from our company and
the entire maritime cluster in Italy will benefit.
Philip EmbiricosDeputy CEO, EMBIRICOS
SHIPBROKERS LTDPresident Designate, BIMCO
Through the ages, maritime transport has been
the enabler of trade, diffusion of knowledge
and economic progress. This is still very much the case
today in the dynamic global economy. This necessitates
the need for visionary leaders and executives of maritime
companies and to act upon it with holistic strategies and
innovative approaches and to be at the cutting edge in
management practices. The Maritime Executive MBA has
included these goals in its mission and so it may become
a real contributor to the maritime community of the future.
That is why we have decided to join its Corporate Network.
Jean-Bernard RaoustCEO, BARRY ROGLIANO SALLES (BRS)
With a non-stop and solid growth over the
past five years, the maritime industry expe-
riences exceptional times which create huge
opportunities (and risks) for companies. Today
more than ever, they are faced with major choices: inves-
ting in new ships and innovating new concepts, building
strategic cooperation and alliances, opening new mar-
kets, controlling and improving processes, sourcing of
personnel in the global community. These choices will
have to be made by leaders and teams that are able to anti-
cipate the pitfalls and opportunities in the markets, adapt
constantly their organization to meet these challenges
and implement actions with quality and speed. The Mari-
time Executive MBA, can be a partner in finding the ans-
wers to these challenges by broadening managements
global vision, improving management skills and deepening
maritime competences.
For BARRY ROGLIANO SALLES, being a member of the
Maritime Executive MBA Corporate Network is a way to
bring our expertise to these challenges and to share our
views and experiences with like-minded professionals.
FrancisVallatPresident, French Maritime Cluster
In highlighting the quality of teaching in the initial
programme, reinforced in the two following ses-sions, the Executive Maritime MBA in Marseille
has demonstrated its real added value. The par-
ticipants are already of a very high standard in a course that
offers benefits for everyone. The benefits are clear for those
who follow the programme, despite a heavy professional
work load, and who fully deserve their diploma, which has
already acquired national, and soon international, recogni-
tion. Benefits are clear for companies too, which discover
the return on their initial investment, both in financial terms
and in terms of the time spent by their top managers away
from fulfilling tasks directly linked to corporate activities.
Benefits also for Euromed Management whose reputation
for organising higher education programmes is furtherenhanced. However the principal benefit of this MBA is
that it achieves its human objective. The diversity and the
richness of the competences acquired totally transform
the ability of the senior managers to fulfill their responsibi-
lities effectively.

Corporate Testimonies
Despite strong growth, shipping companies
are faced with a number of major challenges
for the future:
- they are heavily dependent on world geopolitics, inparticular concerning the control of raw materials,- a major imbalance in traffic volumes due to theconcentration of manufacturing in Asia,
- changes in the business model in a very traditional sector,- a growth rate much higher than is usual for processes
and corporate culture to adapt,- external growth & strategic alliances to be managed,
- the need to constantly monitor the logistics chain.
Faced with these challenges, companies need senior
managers with a strong sense of strategic vision geared
towards results, combined with an operational competence
that enables them to implement change with speed and
precision. In this sense the Maritime MBA, both in its
philosophy and in its content, is an excellent programmeto train and encourage the future top management of major
international shipping companies. As a company aware of
the future challenges to be faced, CMA-CGM has given its
support to the Maritime MBA from the very beginning,
contributing to its promotion and to its content.

I have experienced an
extraordinary adventure during theprogramme, above all of a human
nature which will undoubtedly bring
great returns both to me and my
company. I know that I will further
on look back and say: I did not think
I would be able to manage but now
Im proud I could make it.
Caroline Le (Intake 2008)Legal Director, Bourbon
This programme is not only a sequence
of courses and modules but also an
incredible exchange of feelings, visions
and friendships. It is a human vocational
training which has allowed me to enrich my
maritime experience in shipping industry.
The students, with their own background
(technical, commercial, legal, financial...),
and the different lecturers (professors
and experts) are the component of a
strong network able to build the futuremaritime world.
Franck Jauffret (Intake 2008)SNCM Officer
Going through the Euromed Maritime
Executive MBA was a life changing
experience, the exceptional faculty
and co-ordinated courses make me now
think strategically, my approach is now
logical, my perspective global and greater
consideration and respect for theenvironment, this has undoubtedly
positioned me for the challenges ahead.
Mohammed Bello Shehu (Intake 2009)Purchasing Manager, Lafarge
The Maritime Executive MBA provides us a broad view
on the global Maritime activities that are shaping the
economy today and tomorrow. This in-depth industry
knowledge combined together with advanced
management lectures are providing the necessary
understanding to be in position to decide in a
fast-changing world. Seating down and thinking
about ones personal and companys challenges
is a true experience that is worth sailing on!
Nicolas Elizon (Intake 2008)Fleet Purchasing Manager, CMA Ships
Patrick BoissierDCNS, President - Intake 2009 Sponsor
DCNS has a development strategy that involves
doubling turnover within the next ten years.
Exports will be increased and there will be grea-
ter innovation in nuclear and renewable marine
energy. This ambition will require fundamental change in the
company. Whatever the effort needed to achieve this objective,
it will depend entirely on our employees. It is particularly impor-
tant to improve their competences. The Group must encourage
everyone to improve their performance, increase their auto-
nomy and adapt to fundamental change. In return, my vision is
to give everyone greater responsibilities and to recognize change.
In this context, the Maritime MBA of Euromed Management
answers our requirements both in terms of competence and of
commitment. What it offers seafarers operating in over two
thirds of our planet in terms of progress and innovation is in line
with our own thinking. We are proud to have this programme in
Marseille close to our activities in the Var.
Valrie Le GarsBourbon - Human Resources Manager
Euromed Management and Bourbon: A
deep human relationship that is also a
career booster.
Eight senior managers with jobs a head office
or in subsidiaries of Bourbon have followed the Maritime
Executive MBA. The programme came at a key point in theircareers. Each recognizes that it was a unique opportunity
to take stock and to develop new managerial competencies.
Without exception, they appreciated the chance to reflect on
new business issues and benefited from the special learning
tools at their disposal, such as the variety and richness of
course content, access to distance learning and the quality of
Faculty. Special emphasis was placed on the diversity of
discussions with participants from other firms with differentactivities. All the participants stressed the importance of a
strong personal commitment to reap the maximum benefit
from this learning experience. From the Bourbon perspective,
this investment enabled the firm both to enhance future career
possibilities and to recognize the performance of its topmanagers by opening up new professional opportunities.

Nowadays the maritime environment is
central to the development of the worldwide
economy. Therefore, the Euromed Maritime
Executive MBA shall be the reference in
executive education programme for
companies involved in the maritime cluster.
Churchill said an optimist sees the
opportunity in every difficulty. People
involved in the Maritime Executive MBA
required to be optimist because this
adventure will be hard, demanding butgreat and so rewarding. I lived it fully and
intensively and I learned a lot in terms
of knowledge but above all about myself.
By overcoming each difficulty, I reached
a milestone in my personal development
and I am now armed to meet the new
maritime challenges of my company.

The Euromed Maritime Executive MBA

MBA alongside your job is challenging but
I got strong support from my fellow
students from which I have learnt a lot
during the session but also when
discussing in the e-learning modules.
My experience is very positive: within one
