Charecteristics of the park.The park has got an area of 2668,7 hectares

and a maximum altitude of 312 metres (Red mountain).

Geographical situation.Corralejo Natural Park is in the northerm

part of the island, right on the front line of the Corralejo beach. It is made up of a large area of dunes, a solidified lava stream and the Red Mountain volcanic cone.

Why is this area protected?Because it is an area of supreme natural

beauty that contains plant species from the Canaries for example Bean Caper, Shrubby sea-blite and a member of the amaranthus family and ir also has the largest colony of Hubara Butstards on the island.

Enviromental impacts.The facilities and equipment of the influence

coast and alter the physical environment and endanger conservation and park development.

Sanitation systems, treatment and reuse of the treatment plant Wastewater Corralejo negatively affect the ecosystem and threaten their conservation.

Enviromental problems.The road construction or building on park

land also affects the entire ecosystem deterioration.

One of the main problems is because the construccion of the hotels, affecting the dunes in the rejeneracion, because the sand can't follow the process. This problem is causing the disappearance of the dunes.
