For Central Europeans, Latin America has an extraordinary charm, and Central Europeans have a particular weakness for Latin America. We can say that in addition to the common civilization model that gave birth to pain and joy, we are emotionally close. Julian Villafañe’s exhibition is a testimony.

Julian Villafañe first exhibits in the Latin Art Gallery in Prague, Czech Republic. In the paintings he presents and in his work, he unfolds a palette of his interior, which is transformed into a palette of the painter’s com-munication. It is up to us, the spectators, to accept this palette, the mosaic of records.

Traveling through Central America, the Caribbean or South America, we do not get rid of the captivating smell and taste of the mainland and the islands. And our eyes are not enough to record the natural riches and riches of the spirit that will guide us from Mexico, Venezuela to Argentina. It is said that all Latino Ameri-cans love art. I can confirm that Latino-Americans live with art. Can not be Caracas, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro or Montevideo, and do not see the ubiquitous art scene. Hence the contribution and inspiration of Julian Villafañe. At home he is in Venezuela, born in the University of Merida - under the highest mountain of Venezuela Píco Bolívar. The natural scenery of the Andean peaks and the family offer an extraordinary backdrop. And art surrounded him - mummy painter, father puppeteer. Both come from Argentina. Julian’s childhood world was full of mysteries and spells, stories and puppets, colors and poetry. From where did the author’s journey into the art world.

Great names of the painting scene are born in the inner will - to create. For many names of world art, the self-taught way is characteristic. Julian is a self-taught artist who grew up with art. He was given the gift of art freedom he shares with us today. It has been on the Venezuelan stage since the first half of the 1990s. His work was represented at art fairs or national art exhibitions, among others in 2008 at the Venezuelan art show at the Nuestra América Gallery at the Consulate of Venezuela, New York. He is an award-winning author who is represented in both public and private collections.

At the Latin Art Gallery, the rebuilt set of Julian’s paintings is a testimony to the richness of Latin America - and above all the author’s interior. The mosaic forms the world of people, their joy and misery. For each and every one of the paintings, we can see and experience our own Central European story - although Julian’s images are firmly anchored in the Latin-American world. And here is the spell and the message of the author’s creation - for himself and for the other (for us) to tell us what brings us closer, what connects us, that makes us close.

For the future, I wish Juan to an inexhaustible palette.

Pro Středoevropana má Latinská Amerika mimořádné kouzlo a Středoevropané mají pro Latin-skou Ameriku mimořádnou slabost. Můžeme říci, že vedle společného civilizačního modelu, který se rodil v bolesti i radosti, jsme si citově blízcí. Výstava Juliana Villafaňe je toho svědectvím.

Julian Villafaňe poprvé vystavuje v České republice, v Praze, v Latin Art Gallery. V představených obrazech a ve svém díle rozevírá paletu svého nitra, která je přetavena do palety malířova sdělování. Je na nás, na divácích, jak tuto paletu, mozaiku záznamů, přijmeme.

Cestujeme-li Střední Amerikou, Karibikem či Jižní Amerikou neubráníme se podmanivé vůni a chuti pevniny a ostrovů. A naše oči nestačí zaznamenávat přírodní bohatství a bohatství ducha, které nás bude provázet od Mexika, přes Venezuelu až po Argentinu. Praví se, že všichni Latinoameričané milují výtvarné umění. Mohu potvrdit, že Latinoameričané s uměním žijí. Nelze být Caracasu či v Buenos Aires, v Rio de Janairo či v Montevideu a nesetkávat se se všudypřítomnou výtvarnou scénou. Odtud vklad a inspirace Juliana Villafaňe. Doma je ve Venezuele, narozen v univerzitním městě Méridě - pod nejvyšší horou Venezuely Píco Bolívar. Přírodní scenérie andských vrcholů a rodina nabízejí mimořádné zázemí. A umění jej obklopovalo – maminka malířka, otec loutkař. Oba pocházejí z Argentiny. Julianův dětský svět byl plný tajemna a kouzel, příběhů a loutek, barev a poezie. Odkud pak vedla autorova cesta do výtvarného světa.

Velká jména malířské scény se rodí vnitřní vůlí – tvořit. Pro mnohá jména světového umění je charakteri-stická cesta samouka. Julian je samoukem, který s uměním vyrůstal. Získal tím dar výtvarné svobody, o který se dnes s námi dělí. Na venezuelské scéně se pohybuje od první poloviny devadesátých let 20. století. Jeho dílo bylo zastoupeno na veletrzích umění či na národních uměleckých přehlídkách, mimo jiné v roce 2008 na přehlídce venezuelského umění v Galerii Nuestra América na konzulátě Venezuely v New Yorku. Je oceňovaným autorem, který je zastoupen ve veřejných i soukromých sbírkách.

V Galerii Latin Art Praha přestavený soubor Juliánových obrazů je svědectvím bohatosti Latinské Ameriky – a především autorova nitra. Formou mozaiky nás provází světem lidí, jejich radostmi i strastmi. Za každým a v každém z obrazů můžeme vidět a prožívat i vlastní příběh Středoevropana – přestože Julianovy obrazy jsou pevně ukotveny ve světě latinskoamerickém. A právě zde tkví kouzlo a poselství autorova tvoření – za sebe i za druhé (za nás) sdělovat, co nás sbližuje, co nás propojuje, co nás činí blízkými.

I do budoucna přeji Juanovi nevyčerpatelnou paletu.

Kateřina Bohač Linares is a Czech-Venezuelan artist who founded Latin Art Gallery in the Czech Republic in order to promote the best of Latin American and international art in Central Europe. Latin Art Gallery exhibits Contempo-rary Art including paintings, photographs, graphics, sculptures, installations and video art.

With more than 5 years in the market in the Czech Republic we have presented more than 40 individual and col-lective exhibitions, more than 80 cultural events including books launches, poetry recitals, wine and gastronomy tastings, concerts, theater for children and adults, as well we have offered a variety of art and creative workshops in our spaces.
