Otro de los artículos pertinentes de la

Constitución ecuatoriana, que apoya el proceso

de Integración Multicultural iniciado el agosto

pasado aquí en Vilcabamba, habla de la

igualdad de derechos que gozamos tanto los

nacidos en este país como también los

extranjeros que llegan a vivir en estas tierras.

Dice así:

“Artículo 9 -- Igualdad de Derechos:

Las personas extranjeras que se

encuentren en el territorio ecuatoriano

tendrán los mismos derechos y deberes

que las ecuatorianas de acuerdo con la

Constitución.”

El próximo domingo, a las 10h00 estaremos

nuevamente juntos para escucharnos y exponer

las posibles soluciones a los reales problemas

que vivimos en el cotidiano, en todos los

barrios que conforman Vilcabamba.

El Gobierno Autónomo Descentralizado

(GAD) estará formando parte también de este

proceso, y en esta reunión expondrán su plan

de trabajo y su forma de articularse con los

habitantes de Vilcabamba.

En la próxima semana les informaremos con

detalles de esa reunión.

Another pertinent article in the Ecuadorian

Constitution, which supports the process of

Multicultural Integration begun last August

here in Vilcabamba, speaks of the equal

rights we all enjoy, whether born in this

country or newcomer to these lands. It says:

“Article 9 – Equal Rights:

Foreign persons that are on

Ecuadorian territory will have

the same rights and

obligations as the Ecuadorians

according to the

Constitution.”

Next Sunday, at 10 a.m. we will gather

again to listen to one another and present

possible solutions to the real problems that

we experience daily in all the barrios that

make up Vilcabamba.

The Autonomous Decentralized

Government (GAD, Spanish initials for

Gobierno Autónomo Descentralizado) will

also be participating in this process, and at

this meeting they will present their work

plan, and explain the way in which they

will relate with the people of Vilcabamba.

UBUNTU en un mundo sin dinero. Fue una

experiencia interesante, porque la mayoría de

la gente que estuvo presente nunca antes había

escuchado de mí, ni de mis investigaciones.

Así que fue un verdadero reto el comunicar un

mensaje complejo en unos pocos minutos, a

muchos quienes normalmente estarían

escépticos de una persona extraña con un

mensaje radical. Pero parece que fue bien y

creo que se sembró una semilla de conciencia.

Cada día vemos las innegables señales de que

las estructuras económicas a nuestro alrededor

se colapsan y la gente alrededor del mundo

está despertando rápidamente a ver que

necesitamos un nuevo sistema. Muchos

también se despiertan al hecho de que el dinero

es una herramienta maliciosamente construida

para efectuar la esclavitud, por quienes

controlan el suministro del dinero. Los bancos,

los bancos centrales, los sitios de ventas de

acciones, y el sistema legal, han sido

cuidadosamente elaborados a través de miles

de años para traernos a este punto en el tiempo.

Un profetizado momento del despertar global,

juntamente con el rápido aumento de la

conciencia, está haciendo que millones de

personas alrededor del mundo se den cuenta

que este sistema no puede continuar. Su

eminente colapso nos presenta con verdaderos

desafíos. Con que lo reemplazaremos—si es

que NO HAY DINERO?

Muchos economistas están confundidos por el

hecho de que la economía global de una u otra

forma continúa gateando. Rehúsa colapsar.

Esto es simplemente debido a las medidas

desesperadas que han tomado quienes lo

controlan para de alguna manera mantenerlo

levantado con promesas vacuas. Esto solo nos

dice que una vez que se caiga, será un desastre

monumental de una proporción inimaginable.

On the 22 Sept 2011 I had my first ever

public appearance to speak about

Contributionism and the foundations of

UBUNTU in a world without money. It

was an interesting experience, because

most of the people who were present have

never heard of me or my research before.

So it was a real challenge to convey a

complex message in a few minutes, to

many who would normally be skeptical

about some stranger with a radical

message. But seeming it went well and I

believe that a seed of consciousness was

planted.

Every day we see the undeniable signs of

the economic structures around us

collapsing and people around the world are

rapidly waking up we need an new system.

Many are also waking up to the fact that

money is a maliciously constructed tool of

enslavement, by thos who control the

supply of money. The banks, central banks,

stock trading establishments and the legal

system has been carefully crafted over

thousands of years to bring us to this point

in time.

A prophesized moment of global

awakening, along with the rapid rise of

consciousness is making millions of people

around the world realise that this system

cannot continue. Its imminent collapse

presents us with real challenges. What will

we replace it with – if there is NO

MONEY?

Many economists are baffled by the fact

that the global economy somehow keeps

crawling along. Refusing to collapse. This

is simply because of the desperate measures

taken by those who control it to somehow

keep propping it up with empty promises.

Parte del plan Contribucionismo UBUNTU es

un rápido programa descentralizador, donde la

gente vive en pueblos más pequeños que son

virtualmente por completo auto sustentables.

Agua, alimentos, vivienda, energía libre y

renovable, y todos los recursos comunales que

la gente contribuye hacia el mayor beneficio

para todos. Abundancia para todos—en todos

los aspectos.

Las respuestas a los problemas son simples.

Como en la ciencia y en la física, las

respuestas sencillas son generalmente las

correctas. Pero por razón del DINERO, las

soluciones a los problemas globales no son

implementadas—porque no son

“económicamente viables”. Este ha sido el

obstáculo más grande para el progreso. Todas

las necesidades humanas y los servicios

requeridos por las comunidades son negados a

la gente porque—no hay suficiente dinero.

Todo es posible, todos los problemas tienen

solución, pero porque NO HAY DINERO, se

nos niegan nuestros derechos básicos.

Los ingenieros, científicos, panaderos,

agricultores, fabricantes, están siempre

produciendo cosas. Las tiendas y centros

comerciales están llenos de cosas: llenos de

alimentos…y sin embargo hay gente

hambrienta todo el tiempo y millones de

toneladas de comida es botada al basurero cada

ano, porque la gente no tuvo dinero para

comprarla. El dinero es el obstáculo para todo

el progreso. La mayoría de la población global

vive en un quieto desespero, miseria, depresión

profunda, esperando algún tipo de milagro para

que los salve de su suerte.

This simply means that once it crashes, it

will be a monumental mess of

unimaginable proportion.

If we do not have a plan of how to survive

in a world without money, billions of

people will die like flies. The urban and

metropolitan jungles are most vulnerable –

no food, no water, no heat, electricity, no

transport… people will kill each other for a

slice of bread. We have seen snippets of

this in the past decade when power supply

failed in north America.

Part of the UBUNTU Contributionism plan

is a rapid decentralising programme, where

people live in smaller towns that are

virtually completely self sustained. Water,

food, housing, free renewable energy, and

all the communal resources that the people

contribute towards the greater benefit of all.

Abundance for all – in all aspects.

The answers to the problems are simple. As

in science and physics, the simple answers

are mostly always the right ones. But

because of MONEY, the solutions to the

global problems are not implemented –

because they are not “financially viable”.

This has been the biggest obstacle to all

progress. All the basic human needs and

services required by communities are

denied to the people because – there is not

enough money. Everything is possible, all

problems are solvable, but because of NO

MONEY we are denied our basic rights.

Engineers, scientists, bakers, farmers,

manufacturers are producing stuff all the

time. The shops and malls are full of stuff –

full of food … and yet people go hungry all

the time and millions of tons of food gets

discarded every year, because people could

“abundancia para todos”. En lugar de usar

nuestra energía y la mayor parte de nuestro

Yo le llamo a esto “el orden natural de las

cosas”. La manera en que fue diseñado por la

naturaleza. Pero el resto ha sido perturbado por

el EGO humano. Quienes estén

conscientemente despiertos y conectados a los

campos etéreos cósmicos superiores, saben

exactamente que significa esto. Pero la

conciencia tiene una maravillosa manera de

afectar a todas las cosas, aun sin nosotros

darnos cuenta. Nuestro ADN está

constantemente siendo activado por las

energías y frecuencias que ahora nos llegan del

centro galáctico. Frecuencias que no han

sentido los humanos por unos 13 mil años.

Esta es en realidad la razón principal porque

tantos millones de gente ordinaria de pronto

están “despertando” de lo que ha sido un

periodo largo y oscuro de ignorancia y

separación de la fuente universal y la UNION.

El sentimiento de abandono desenfrenado es

evidente en las tantas protestas alrededor del

mundo. La gente ya dice vasta. Por instinto

saben que hay una mejor forma.

ASI que, en este momento más oscuro de la

historia humana hay la más brillante

oportunidad para el cambio. Abracémosla con

todo nuestro corazón, dejemos atrás cualquier

duda, y levantemos a los escépticos—todos

eventualmente verán la luz. Es lo inevitable.

Ya que todos venimos de la unión, la UNIÓN

all progress. Most of the global population

lives in quiet desperation, misery, deep

depression, waiting for some kind of

miracle to save them from their lot.

Once money has been removed from

society, everything becomes easy – NOT

difficult. No obstacles to progress means

“abundance for all”. Instead of using all our

energy and most of our time chasing

money, we will be spending most of our

time to contribute to the abundance on all

fronts. Whether it is food, science,

technology, housing, energy, arts, culture,

and all the other new human activities that

are not part of our current structure, will

emerge – because of “no money”, they will

now be financially viable.

I call this the “natural order of things”. The

way that nature has designed it. But the

balance has been disturbed by human EGO.

Those that are consciously awake and

connected to the higher cosmic etheric

fields know exactly what this means. But

consciousness has a wonderful way of

effecting all things, without us even

realising it. Our DNA is constantly being

activated by the energy waves and

frequencies that now reach us from the

galactic centre. Frequencies that have not

been felt by humans in about 13,000 years.

sistema de dinero, o algo remotamente

burlándose de las leyes de la naturaleza. Pero

nuestras mentes han sido tan severamente

envenenadas por el capitalismo, la democracia,

el éxito y otras expresiones para sentirse uno

bien, todas las cuales maneja la alocada

sociedad consumista, que la mayoría de

nosotros no caemos en cuenta que necesitamos

ser sanados. Así…empecemos por la sanación

del capitalismo y la separación.

Digo esto, no desde la arrogancia y el ego,

sino sencillamente porque todos hemos salido

de esta misma unión—la misma fuente. Toda

materia física en el universo, inclusive nuestros

cuerpos, están hechos de la misma cosa. Los

electrones—forman los átomos que forman las

moléculas y las células y los minerales que

componen todo lo que percibimos. Todos

somos solo una masa de electrones—

arreglados en configuraciones diferentes—que

SO – in this darkest moment in human

history there is the brightest opportunity for

change. Let us embrace it with all our

hearts, leave any doubts behind, and swoop

Since we all come out of unity, UNITY is

divided and abused species. Divided on

every possible social level that we can

imagine. We have to cross these deep

divisions and find unlimited UNITY. We

are all one and the same divine spirit is in

all of us – the unifying spirit of the divine

source of things. Some people call it GOD.

God is in all of us and we are all part of god

– all the great masters of the past have tried

to teach this principle to the people of their

time. From Krishna, the Buddha, Christ and

many others. WELL – the time has come

again to embrace this simple principle of

unity. Only a unified community will

survive and find abundance on all levels

which will allow them to rapidly move

towards enlightenment. Anything else is

doomed to failure.

Any future world in UNITY and

abundance, cannot operate within a system

of money, or anything remotely related to

it. Any such notion is simply flying in the

face of the laws of nature. But our minds

have been so severely poisoned by

capitalism and democracy, success and

other feel-good expression that drive the

crazy consumerist society, that most of us

do not realise the deep traumatic strangle-

hold of this poison. But the road to healing

begins with realisation that we need to be

healed. So… let us begin the healing from

dinero—lleno de conocimientos y UNIÓN

siempre crecientes, hacia una conciencia

superior y la iluminación.

I say this not in arrogance or ego, but

simply because we all come from the same

unity – the same source. All the physical

matter in the universe, including our

bodies, are made up of the same stuff.

Electrons – make up the atoms that make

up the molecules and cells and minerals

that make up everything we perceive. We

are all just a mass of electrons – arranged in

different configurations – that vibrate at a

specific frequency to produce a specific

kind of matter.

Scientists sometimes call this source of all

“the Big Bang”. But according to the great

masters and ancient texts, it is the breath of

God, or the word of God, or the sound of

God, that has created all this stuff. And

God does not take credit cards, debit cards,

cash or gold. God just is. Infinite creation

of abundance.

So, let us clear our poisoned minds of

capitalism and embrace a new world of

abundance. So many people, doing so many

amazing things. Join the UBUNTU

movement and spread the message of

abundance for all… in a world without

money – filled with ever-growing

knowledge and UNITY, towards higher

consciousness and enlightenment.

Vine a Vilcabamba la semana pasada y tuve la

oportunidad de quedarme por lo menos tres días, antes

de continuar mi corto viaje por Ecuador. Trabajo como

un dentista en una clínica misionaria en Guadalupe,

donde la gente recibe tratamiento a un bajo costo.

Mi nombre es Olaf Timm, tengo 29 años, y soy uno

de tres hermanos trillizos, idénticos, lo cual es algo

raro, algo así como uno de cada 70 millones de partos.

Crecer así le hace a uno casi imposible no entrar en

alguna manera más espiritual de ver la Vida y sus

Hello my dear friends,

I came to Vilcabamba the last week and I had the

chance to stay at least for three days, before I

continued my short trip through Ecuador. I work as

a dentist in a Mission clinic in Guadalupe, where

people get treatment for little money.

My name is Olaf Timm, I am 29 years old and one

of three identical triplet brothers, which is a rare

happening, something like 1 out of 70 million

births. Growing up like that makes it almost

misterios, como yo, como tú, claro, IGUAL. Somos un

misterio, seamos triple o no. Estamos vivos, aún más

correcto sería decir que somos aquello que causa la

Vida misma, consciente de sus varias formas, colores,

aromas…como un ser viviente. Somos, bueno,

definitivamente parecería que existimos, lo cual es

bastante asombroso, no crees?

Ahora resulta que la historia de la humanidad

demuestra una carencia de entendimiento de y

apreciación por la Vida. ¿Qué tal sería al fin, vivir en

una sociedad cuyo solo propósito sea el preservar la

Vida, el apreciar la Vida, el vivir en un respeto y

apreciación totales hacia la Vida, el Amar la Vida que

nos rodea, que fluye a través de nosotros? ¡La Vida

que tú eres! ¿Y qué es lo que trajiste contigo--Aquello

que nace al mundo mediante tu existencia? Un don

muy especial…dándole un nombre podríamos llamarlo

consciencia. Sin ella, toda la belleza no podría ser

escuchada, vista, sentida,…vivida. La Vida se ha

desarrollado a un punto donde se volvió consciente de

si misma, lo cual es un paso grande y definitivamente

no es fácil para ella manejarlo. ¡Miren a nuestro

pasado! Pero, ahora es el momento de continuar y lo

sabemos, ¡lo sentimos! ¿No te parece? A mí sí.

Siento que quiero dar, siento que quiero dar y

compartir más que tomar para mí. ¿Te sientes igual?

¿O sigues sintiendo que quieres tomar y usar algo solo

para tus propósitos? ¿Te gusta la palabra solo. ¿Te

gusta estar separado?

¡Pues yo no! Es hora, diría yo, de al fin despertarnos a

nuestra naturaleza real, a esa naturaleza verdadera, la

que nos da un sentimiento de felicidad, un sentimiento

de amor, un sentimiento de pasión, un sentimiento de

una conectividad profunda con toda la vida, con quien

está a mi lado, con es@, con quien pueda necesitar mi

ayuda. Oh, qué dichoso soy al poder dar, al tener la

oportunidad de ayudar a aquel/la que bien pudieras ser

TÚ. Lo que la vida me ha enseñado a través del

tiempo, sin esfuerzo, NO tuve que pagar para aprender,

me fue dado. Haber nacido en una familia, crecer, esto

y aquello, ¿acaso alguna vez pude elegir? La Vida me

lo dio. La Vida está dando. En todo y cada momento.

Si la nueva sociedad se desarrollara en Vilcabamba,

por ejemplo, estaría muy contento de dar aquello por

lo que me he arriesgado en el tiempo, lo que es, por

ejemplo, mi habilidad como dentista. La salud es un

derecho humano, cada vez que recibo dinero por

ayudar a alguien a mejorar su salud, me siento mal.

Serio. Claro, nunca olvidarte de tu propia

responsabilidad, por el otro lado. Es difícil la labor, ahí

vamos llegando.

Me encantaría trabajar en una nueva sociedad, donde

ya no se necesite el dinero, y al ver lo que pasa en la

actualidad, parece que el dinero se está deshaciendo

por si solo ;-) ¡Yo no necesito dinero! Necesito

impossible not to step into somewhat more of a

spiritual way of looking at Life and its mysteries,

like myself, like yourself of course, SAME. We

are a mystery, no matter if triplet or not. We are

alive, maybe even more correct would be, we are

that, which causes aliveness, Life itself, conscious

of its various forms, colors, smells…as a living

being. We are, well, we definitely seem to exist,

which is pretty amazing, don’t you think?

Now it turned out that the history of human kind

shows a total lack of understanding and

appreciation of Life. What will it finally be like, to

live in a society whose only purpose is to preserve

Life, to appreciate Life, to live in total respect and

appreciation of Life, to Love the Life that

surrounds us, that is flowing through us? The Life

that you are! And what is it that you brought with

you? That, which gets born into the world through

your existence? A very special gift…to give it a

name we might call it consciousness. Without it,

all the beauty could not be heard, seen,

felt…experienced. Life has developed to a point

where it got aware of itself, which is a big step and

definitely not easy to handle for it. Have a look at

our past! But now it’s time to go on and we know

it, we feel it! Don’t you? I do.

I feel like giving, I much more feel like giving and

sharing, than taking. Do you feel the same? Or do

you still feel like taking and using for your own

purposes only? Like the word alone? Like being

separated?

Well I don’t! It’s time, I would say, to finally

awaken to our true nature, that true nature, which

gives us a feeling of joy, feeling of love, feeling of

passion, feeling of deep connectiveness with all

life, the one next to me, that one, who might need

my help. Oh how glad I am to be able to give, to

get the chance to help that one, that YOU might

be. What Life has taught me through time,

effortless. I didn’t have to pay for it, it was given

to me. Born into a family, growing up, this and

that, was there ever a choice? Life gave it to me.

Life is giving. Each and every moment.

If the new society will develop in Vilcabamba, for

example, I will be glad to give that, which I have

gambled through time. Which is, for example, my

skills as a dentist. Health is a human right, taking

money for helping someone become healthy, feels

bad to me, every time. Really. Of course, never

forget your own responsibility, on the other hand.

It is hard work, we are getting there.

El Aire lleva radiación peligrosa de los

celulares y otros dispositivos

La saturación del atmósfera con electrosmog

generado de los teléfonos celulares y otros

Air Waves Carrying Dangerous Radiation

from Cell Phones and Other Sources

The saturation of the air waves with cell

phone and other forms of electrosmog has

caused electromagnetic sensitivity in many

people. Some people get sick if they are near

a cell phone user and many people are

suffering from this condition without

realizing the source. How are you feeling

recently?

A new dish has recently been placed next to

the church at a very low height that is

radiating the residents of Vilcabamba.

According to one resident, it is a RADOM. A

RADOM is a housing for commercial and

military radio/microwave equipment. These

devices can contain different surveillance

equipment like high effect radars and

radiolink technology. A spokesman for the

Swedish Army has admitted that this

technology can harm people but the army

doesn’t care about those living in the path of

the emissions.

A RADOM normally covers a 90 degree

angle transmitting pattern and is also

transmitting in a circle about 500 meters

wide. People living within this perimeter will

have one set of symptoms and those directly

in the path of the radiation will have worse

symptoms.

Here are the symptoms:

La Vida en Vilcabamba

Por favor no me malinterpreten, pero hay

algunas cosas que debo decir aquí.

Life in Vilcabamba

Please, don´t get me wrong, but there are

some things I need to say here.

Como brasileño, he visto bastantes pueblitos

similares a Vilcabamba literalmente destruidos

por un gran flujo de gente que llega del

extranjero.

Tú, que deseas irte a vivir a pueblitos así,

debes ser muy cuidadoso/a de cómo te

comportas y con las consecuencias.

Hay varios problemas recurrentes que suceden

siempre en esta situación:

1. Como los dólares en general son mucho más

valiosos que la moneda local, un gran flujo

de dólares puede y de hecho, hará que las

cosas suban de precio allí.

2. La Codicia-la mayoría de la gente local son

personas sencillas, pero no son

necesariamente sabios. Con un gran flujo de

moneda y oportunidades de trabajo,

experimentarán algo que nunca antes había

experimentado, que se llama codicia. Esto a

menudo transforma a la gente local--

quienes en realidad no habían tenido mucho

contacto con el dinero antes—en personas

codiciosas, porque cambiara su estilo de

vida sencillo, casi socialista, casi centrado

en las cosas, a uno fuertemente centrado en

el dinero.

3. Las propiedades. Con un gran flujo de

dólares y personas con más dinero que la

gente de aquí, los precios de las propiedades

aumentan bastante. Esto, claro está, hara de

las propiedades (y todo lo demás) más caro

también para la gente local. Esto, con

tiempo, creará una terrible separación de

clases. Los ricos/exploradores (extranjeros)

y los pobres/explorados (gente local), en un

sitio donde antes básicamente había solo una

clase-ni ricos, ni pobres-solo gente sencilla.

El contraste social es una bestia terrible,

créanme.

4. Basura. Este tipo de pueblos chiquitos

producen muy poca basura o desechos. Un

gran flujo de gente del extranjero hara que

aumente considerablemente la cantidad de

basura. Piensa cómo es que se manejará esta

basura. A menudo ellos simplemente la

insist to happen in this kind of situation:

1 - As dollars are usually much more

valuable than the local currency, a big

influx of dollars can and will make things

much more expensive there.

2 - Greed. Most of the locals are very

simple persons, but not necessarily wise

persons. With a huge flux of foreign

currency and work opportunity, they will

be experiencing something they´ve never

experienced before, which is greed. This

often transform locals, who really hadn´t to

much contact with real money before, in

greedy persons, because it will change their

simple, almost goods centered socialist life

style, into strong money centered lifestyle.

3 - Properties. With a huge influx of dollars

and persons with considerably more money

than the locals, the properties prices will

rise hugely. This, of course, will make

properties (and everything else) more

expensive for the locals as well. This, with

time, will create a terrible class separation :

The rich/explorers (foreigners) and the

poor/explored (locals), in a place where,

before, there was basically just one class,

no rich, no poor, just simple people. Social

contrast is a terrible beast, believe me.

4 - Trash. These kinds of small villages

deal with very little trash or garbage. A big

influx of people moving in from abroad,

will make the amount of trash raise

considerably. Think about how they will

manage this trash. Often, they just throw it

in a inappropriate place in the woods or

de un desequilibrio. Hay un sitio en el medio

que se llama justo/honesto/equilibrado.

El problema es que este “barato” no es

siquiera “barato”, es un valor

desequilibrado, y a los extranjeros parece no

importarles explotar al máximo este

“barato”, aun sabiendo que este “barato” es

un valor injusto, considerando el poder

económico superior del extranjero.

Así es que la solución es, en lugar de tratar

de explotar este injusto y en su mayoría,

desequilibrado “barato” para siempre, es

pensar un poquito, ser amable, y si alguien

te ofrece un servicio bien “barato”, ser

honesto contigo mismo, salirte de la

posición de explotador, y pagar un poquito

más por el servicio. Pagar lo que tú

consideres justo. De esta manera, con el

tiempo, puedes evitar el contraste social

inevitable, ayudando a todos los de la

comunidad a prosperar más igualmente.

La separación de clases es terrible, pero está

en tus manos el evitarla.

He visto muchos pueblitos literalmente

invadidos por extranjeros buscando un modo

de vida alternativo, transformados en

sociedades feudales en miniatura. No

intentes hacer una vida alternativa para ti

solo, pero intenta vivir y generar un estilo

alternativo para toda la comunidad.

No explotes la economía local que es de

bajo costo y frágil. Trabaja duro para ser una

persona justa y mejorar la economía local de

have an appropriate sewer system. Think

This is a very serious recurrent problem.

foreigners) fees for their services. Like Bill

said above : " It's cheap to live here".

Remember that cheap/expensive are just

signs of unbalance. There´s a place in the

middle which is called

fair/honest/balanced.

The problem is that this "cheap" is not even

"cheap", it´s an unbalanced value, and

foreigners don´t seem to care about

exploiting the hell out of this "cheap", even

knowing that this "cheap" is an unfair

value, considering the foreigner´s much

superior economic power.

So the solution is, instead of trying to

exploit this unfair and mostly unbalanced

"cheap" forever, is to think a little bit, be

kind, and if someone offers you a service

for really "cheap", be honest with

yourselves, get out of the exploiter position,

and pay a little bit more for the service. Pay

what you consider to be fair. This way,

with time, you can avoid the inevitable

social contrast, helping everyone from the

community to prosper more equally.

Class separation is terrible but it´s on your

hands to avoid it.

I´ve seen many villages literally invaded by

foreigners looking to have an alternative

life style, to be transformed in miniature

feudal societies. Don´t try to make an

alternative life just for yourself, but try to

live and make an alternative lifestyle for

una manera sustentable. Si en realidad te

quedas a vivir allí, participa activamente en

el manejo del pueblito, para mejorarlo, no

para explotarlo.

Espero que todos ustedes piensen sobre estas

cuestiones, y si deciden cambiarse a vivir en

pueblitos como Vilcabamba, hagan lo mejor

que puedan para ser una parte positiva de la

comunidad, no solamente otro/a “gringo/a”

que explota la ingenuidad de la gente local,

para vivir un estilo de vida alternativo y

egoísta.

El equilibrio en esos sitios es bien delicado y

frágil.

persons and to improve the local economy

in a sustainable way. If you are really

relocating there, participate actively in the

management of the village, to improve it,

not to exploit it.

I hope you all to think about these issues

and, if you decide to relocate to villages

like Vilcabamba, do your best to be a

positive part of the community, not just

another "gringo" exploiting the naivety of

the locals, in order to live a selfish

alternative lifestyle.

The balance in such places is very delicate

and fragile.

dando cuenta que puede haber una mejor

manera de vivir que la actual, con todas las

guerras, la pobreza, la corrupción, la

desigualdad, la privación de los derechos

humanos, la destrucción del ambiente, etc.,

etc., sin mencionar la comercialización de

nuestras vidas, donde todo se enfoca alrededor

del dinero. Perseguirle al dólar. Será que de

esto se trata toda la vida? Espero que no.

Ahora en Vilcabamba hemos puesto a rodar

un proceso en el cual los ciudadanos puedan

abordar cualquier asunto que quieran.

Tenemos comités a los que cualquier persona

puede juntarse. Estamos en el proceso de re-

diseñar nuestro futuro. ¿Será que podemos

diseñarnos afuera del paradigma del dinero?

Now Is The Time To Imagine, Now

Is The Time To Act

Just imagine that the Occupy Wall St.

protests that have and continue to spread

throughout the world, bring down all the

governments in the world. It is a

possibility. People all over the world are

realizing that there could be a better way of

living than the way we do, with all the

wars, poverty, corruption, inequality,

human rights deprivation, destruction of the

environment, etc. etc. not to mention the

commercialization of our lives, where

everything becomes focussed around

money. Chasing after the dollar. Is this

what life is all about? I hope not.

Now in Vilcabamba, we have already set in

motion a process, whereby citizens can

address whatever issues they like. We have

committees that anyone can join. We are in

the process of redesigning our future. Can

we design ourselves out of the money

paradigm? Only 30 years ago, money

wasn't so important here. Before the roads

tenia una vida mas tranquila, mas lenta. El

dinero no era muy importante. Ahora eso ha

cambiado. Pregunto, en realidad necesitamos

dinero para motivarnos a realizar cualquier

cosa?

En una “economía de dar” la gente da lo

pueda y toma lo que necesita. El placer de dar

es la fuerza motivadora. Intentar satisfacer las

necesidades de tod@s en la comunidad, de la

mejor manera posible, es la meta. Pero, qué tal

de alguien que sólo quiera tomar y no quiera

dar? Me imagino que muchos pensarían que

esto no funcionará, porque siempre habrá

alguien que deseará sacar ventaja de la

situación. Esto, yo creo, sería verdad si es que

primeramente no tendríamos una comunidad

unida y armoniosa. En otras palabras, se espera

que tod@s verán que es para el beneficio de

tod@s tener como prioridad la armonía y la

unión. Esto debe ser un principio subyacente,

honrado y sostenido por tod@s para que esto

funcione. Es muy similar a serle fiel a la

familia. Esta armonía y unión nunca seria a

costa de la integridad personal de uno. Ellas

van juntas.

El nuevo paradigma significa dar un paso

afuera del círculo limitado que llamamos “yo”

hacia el círculo más grande que llamamos

“nosotros”. Es muy similar a una mentalidad

“tribal”. Los indígenas a menudo tienen este

entendimiento como parte integral de su

cultura. La idea es que el “yo” gana mas

cuando se vuelve “nosotros”. Así que uno no

se olvida enteramente del “yo”, simplemente

tenemos en cuenta que el “yo” estará más

contento como un “nosotros”. Que todas las

necesidades de “mi” se satisfarán más fácil y

con más abundancia cuando se vuelve

“nosotros”. Se trata de re-conectarse a la más

grande “familia humana”.

Qué pasaría con tod@s l@s demás, con el

mundo afuera de Vilcabamba? Si nuestro

were built that connect us to Loja, people

lead a much quieter, slower kind of life.

Money wasn't very important. Now, that

has all changed. Do we really need money

to motivate us to get anything done?

In an "economy of giving", people give

what they can and take what they need. The

pleasure of giving becomes the motivation.

To try to meet the needs in the best way

possible of everyone in the community is

the goal. But what about someone who just

wants to take and doesn't want to give? I

imagine that many would think that this

couldn't work, because there always would

be some people who want to take

advantage of the situation. This I believe

would be true if we don't first have a

community that is united and harmonious.

In other words, everyone hopefully will see

that it is to the advantage of all to prioritize

harmony and unity. This must be an

underlying principle honored and upheld by

all for this to work. Its very similar to being

loyal to your family. This harmony and

unity would never be at the expense of

one's personal integrity. They go together.

The new paradigm is stepping out of the

limited circle that we call "me" into the

larger circle that we call "we". It is very

similar to a "tribal" mentality. Indigenous

people often have this kind of

understanding built into their culture. The

idea is that the "me" gains more when it

becomes "we". So one doesn't entirely

forget about "me", we simply have the

realization that the "me" will be happier as

a "we". That all "me's" needs will be met

easier and more abundantly when it

becomes "we". Its about reconnecting to the

greater "human family".

What about everyone else, the world

outside of Vilcabamba? If our model is

l@s demás van a querer copiarlo. Solo es

cuestión de que una comunidad sea exitosa en

esto, para que se esparza por el mundo entero.

Miren lo rápido que se han esparcido los

teléfonos celulares y la Internet, por el mundo.

Vilcabamba es extraordinaria por varias

razones. Una bien grande es que tenemos aquí

a tanta gente maravillosa. Si de verdad nos

uniéramos, lo que, claro, significa aprender

castellano (un gran desafío para mí), juntando

nuestros talentos, habilidades, imaginaciones,

y energías, posiblemente podríamos crear algo

por lo que todo el mundo espera: una mejor

manera de vivir que aquella que depende del

dinero. Es un brinco. Hemos sido

condicionados a pensar que el capitalismo es la

mejor y única manera en la que los humanos

pueden funcionar como sociedad. Debemos

dar un paso para salir de nuestro

acondicionamiento. La Ocupación de Wall

Street es para terminar con el capitalismo,

como yo la percibo. Esto pudiera ser muy

divertido. La carta que envió Olaf es un

ejemplo de esta nueva actitud/entendimiento.

truly joyful and beneficial, everyone else

will want to copy it. It just takes one

community to succeed at this, for it to

spread around the world. Look how quickly

cell phones and the internet has spread

around the world. Vilcabamba is

extraordinary for many reasons. One big

one is that we have so many wonderful

people here. If we can truly unite, which of

course, means learning Spanish, (a huge

challenge for me), put together our talents,

skills, imagination, and energy, we could

possibly create something that the whole

world is waiting for; a better way of living

than one that relies on money. It’s a leap.

We have been conditioned to think that

capitalism is the best and only way humans

can function as a society. We need to step

out of our conditioning. The Wall Street

Occupation is for the end of capitalism, as I

perceive it. This could be so much fun. The

letter sent in by Olaf, exemplifies this new

attitude/ understanding.
