INTRODUCCIÓN
Imagina un mundo normal, con niños y
niñas que van al colegio, aprenden
muchas cosas, juegan con sus amigos y
quieren a sus maestros y maestras.
Pero de repente, un día aparece algo un
poco inusual, con una forma muy extraña
y que nadie conoce.
Este algo es muy muy pequeño, tanto que
no lo podemos ver. Se llama… Creo que
todos conocéis su nombre es,
INTRODUCTION
Imagine a normal world with children
who go to school, learn many things, play
with their friends and love their teachers.
But, suddenly, one day something odd-
shaped, unknown, and unusual appears.
It is a little tiny thing; it is so small that
nobody can see it. It´s called… I guess
that you all know its name,

CAPITULO I- Una noticia inesperada
Filomena era una niña alegre, le gustaba
mucho jugar al
fútbol con sus
amigas y comer
helados en el
parque sentadita
en un banco.
CHAPTER I Unexpected news
Filomena was a cheerful girl. She loved
playing football with her friends and
eating ice-creams at the
park sat at a bench.

Le encantaba sentir los rayos del Sol en
su cara mientras veía como se
derretía su helado de
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ por el cucurucho.
Su asignatura preferida era inglés. Se
pasaba horas y horas imitando a los
personajes de Peppa Pig.
Era una niña juguetona y vivaracha.
Apenas le gustaba estar en casa,
siempre encontraba escusas para salir a
jugar.
She loved feeling the Sun on her face while
she looked at her
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ice-cream melting
down the cone.
Her favourite subject was English. She
spent hours and hours imitating Peppa
Pig´s characters.
She was a playful and joyful girl. She
barely liked being at home, she always
found excuses to go out to play.

Su hermano, Fulanito,
era más tímido, le
gustaba mucho jugar
con los juguetes de su
hermana y leer libros
de aventuras, sobre
todo los del Capitán
Calzoncillos. Se
imaginaba a él mismo
metido dentro de un
pañal salvando el mundo.
His brother Fulanito was shyer.
He liked very much
playing with his
sister´s toys and
reading adventure
books. He liked
Captain Underpants’
the most. He
imagined himself
wearing a nappy
and saving the world.

No le gustaba nada que le molestasen
mientras soñaba despierto con los
dinosaurios que les enseñaba en clase su
profesor de naturales.
Ambos querían mucho a sus papás,
Fígaro y Franchesca, así se llamaban.
Fígaro trabajaba mucho en la fábrica de
zapatos y siempre llegaba al anochecer
a casa así que, apenas veía a sus
pequeñajos.
He didn´t like to be disturbed at all while
he daydreamed with the dinosaurs that
his natural science teacher taught them
in class.
Both loved their parents a lot; their
names were Figaro and Franchesca.
Figaro worked a lot in a shoe factory. He
always arrived home at sunset, so he
barely saw his children.

Era un hombre un tanto peculiar, le
gustaba mucho el silencio y hacer
crucigramas. Decía que esos eran sus
pequeños placeres de la vida, además de
ayudar a sus hijos con las tareas y jugar
con Filomena al fútbol.
Franchesca era maestra de escuela. Le
encantaba crear juegos para sus
alumnos y luego los compartía con sus
hijos.
He was a peculiar man. he enjoyed
silence and crosswords a lot. He said
that those were his little life pleasures,
also he helped his children with homework
and played football with Filomena.
Franchesca was a schoolteacher. She
loved making games for her pupils and
then she shared them with her kids.

Era una mujer muy activa y creativa,
siempre encontraba un hueco en su
ajetreado trabajo para buscar cuentos
de aventuras nuevos para su hijo Fulanito.
Todos llevaban unas vidas tranquilas
disfrutando de la familia y de los amigos.
She was a very active and creative
woman. She always found room with
her busy job for searching new
adventure tales for her son Fulanito.
All of them led peaceful lives enjoying
family and friends.

Los domingos iban al parque del Retiro
todos juntos. Ahí comían helados en las
casetas de enfrente del estanque.
They went all together to Retiro´s Park
on Sundays. There they ate ice-creams in
the sheds in front of the pond.

Un trágico día en la escuela:
- Me ha dicho mi mamá que mañana
no vendremos al colegio y puede que
no volvamos en todo el curso.
Filomena no se lo podía creer, estaba
deseando entrar en clase para que su
profe le dijera que no era verdad.
Ese día su profe de inglés entró en clase
con una cara muy triste:
One tragic day at school:
- My mum told me that we are not
coming to school tomorrow. We might
not come back in the whole term.
Filomena couldn´t believe it. She was
anxious to enter the classroom for her
teacher to tell her it wasn´t true.
That day, her English teacher went inside
the classroom sad faced:

- Mañana no vendremos al colegio, ni
tampoco en dos semanas, ¿sabéis
por qué?
Tomorrow we´re not coming to school,
neither in two weeks’ time. Do you know
why?

Y la clase en coro contestó:
- ¿No será por el virus ese del que
tanto se habla?
- Si, coged vuestros libros, a partir de
ahora seré vuestra profe YouTuber.
Todos los niños se miraron los unos a los
otros con cara de sorpresa y
desconcierto. Ahora comenzaba su
nueva vida.
The whole class answer at once:
- Isn´t it because of the virus everyone
is talking about?
- Yes, it is. Get your books. From now
on I´ll be your YouTube teacher.
All the pupils looked at each other
confused and puzzled. Their new lives
started then.

CAPITULO II
Hibernando en plena primavera
Pasó un día en casa, pasaron dos días,
tres… Mamá ya no iba al trabajo, aunque
no tenía mucho tiempo para pasar con
Filomena y Fulanito. Mientras mamá
trabajaba en su ordenador, los hijos se
lo pasaban bien jugando con sus juguetes
o leyendo libros.
CHAPTER II
Hibernating in the middle of spring.
A day went by, two days went by, three
days… Mum was no longer working, still
she didn´t have much spare time to
spend with Filomena and Fulanito. While
mum was working on her computer, her
kids had fun playing with their toys or
reading books.

También tenían que hacer las tareas que
les mandaban los profes. Pasaron seis
días, siete… Todo se volvió monótono…
Y todos los días,
a las 8 en punto
salían a las
ventanas a
aplaudir por el
esfuerzo diario
de los sanitarios
y los servicios
públicos.
Also, they had to do the homework that
their teachers sent them. Six days went
by, seven days… Everything turned
monotonous…
And every single day, at 8
o´clock they went to the
windows to clap for the
health workers and the
public services´ daily
effort.

Filomena echaba de menos a sus amigas,
jugar al fútbol y comer helados en el
parque.
Fulanito soñaba despierto desde por la
mañana hasta el anochecer. Se
imaginaba que vestido de superhéroe
derrotaba al villano, al virus que
custodiaba la ciudad.
Filomena missed her friends, playing
football and eating ice-creams in the
park.
Fulanito daydreamed from morning until
night. He imagined himself dressed as a
superhero beating the evil virus that
gripped the city.

Aunque, pasados unos días su
imaginación empezó a dejar de fluir,
necesitaba aire fresco, algo raro en él, ya
que siempre le había encantado estar en
su habitación.
Un buen día:
- A partir de hoy ya no iré más a
trabajar- dijo Papá.
Los niños se llevaron una alegría, ¡Iban a
poder pasar todas las mañanas jugando
con él!
Although, as days went by his imagination
stopped flowing, it needed fresh air. It
was a strange thing for him because he
usually loved being in his bedroom…
A good day:
- From today I am no longer going to
work- dad said.
The children got very happy. They could
spend every morning playing with him!

Y así fue, a partir de ese día, toda la
familia madrugaba para desayunar
juntos.
And so, it was. From that day they woke
up early everyday for a family breakfast.

Mientras Mamá trabajaba, Papá
ayudaba a Filomena y Fulanito a hacer
sus tareas, cocinaba, limpiaba y luego
jugaban los tres juntos.
Pero, algo raro ocurría… Papá no estaba
tan contento como de costumbre,
siempre estaba pensativo y a veces,
incluso discutía con Mamá. Hasta se
había cansado de hacer crucigramas y
su barba pinchaba mucho…
While mum worked, dad helped Filomena
and Fulanito to do homework. He cooked,
cleaned and then the three of them
played together.
But something weird was going on… Dad
wasn´t as happy as usual. He was often
lost in thought, he even argued with mum
sometimes. He was even fed up with
crosswords and his beard was very
itchy…

- Fígaro, no puedes seguir comprando
chocolate y helados para Filomena.
No podemos permitírnoslo. Hasta
que no vuelvas al trabajo solo
tenemos mi dinero.
- Pero, Franchesca, pobres niños…
Bastante mal lo están pasando, por
un capricho no pasa nada…
- ¡Ya está bien! Hay que enseñarles
a apreciar las pequeñas cosas de la
vida.
- Figaro! You can´t keep on buying
chocolates and ice-creams for
Filomena. We can´t afford it. We only
have my money until you go back to
work.
- But Franchesca, poor children…
They are suffering enough, just a
treat doesn´t mind…
- Enough! We must teach them to
appreciate the little things in life.

Cuando Filomena oía que sus padres
discutían, entraba al cuarto de Fulanito,
le tapaba las orejas
y le decía:
-Ahora imagina
que tú y yo
estamos es una
aventura. Tú eliges
a donde vamos.
Y ponía música para no
oír nada.
When Filomena listened to her parents
arguing, she went inside Fulanito´s
bedroom, covered his ears and said:
- Now, imagine us into an
adventure. You choose where
to go.
And she played music
so that they heard
nothing.

Mamá estaba siempre nerviosa. Tenía
tantas cosas que hacer que ya no
enseñaba esos juegos tan chulos a sus
hijos. A veces hablaba con sus alumnos
por el ordenador, igual que Filomena y
Fulanito hablaban con sus profesores.
Aun así, todo se estaba volviendo
aburrido. Fulanito quería volver a pasar
los domingos en el Retiro con su familia,
escuchar a su profesor de naturales
Mum was always nervous. She had so
many things to do that she did not
teach those funny games to her
children anymore. Sometimes she spoke
with her pupils on the computer, just as
Filomena and Fulanito spoke with their
teachers.
Even though, everything was turning
boring. Fulanito wanted to spend the
Sundays at Retiro’s Park with his family
again. He wanted to listen to his
natural science teacher talking

hablar de dinosaurios y jugar con otros
niños.
A Filomena, los helados no le sabían tan
ricos dentro de casa, quería que el Sol
los derritiese.
¿Qué es lo que más echabas de menos
en la cuarentena?

Ice-creams didn´t taste that good to
Filomena, she wanted them to melt in
the Sun.

CAPÍTULO III
Ideas Extraordinarias
Al final acabaron acostumbrándose a
las rutinas de siempre, y ya ni
preguntaban cuándo iban a salir de
casa. Se dedicaban a divertirse de otras
maneras.
- ¡Niños, mirad a estribor se acerca un
tiburón!
- ¿Dónde papá, dónde? No lo veo.
CHAPTER III
Extraordinary Ideas.
Finally, they got used to daily routines.
They didn´t even ask when they were
going outside. They had fun in other
ways.
- Kids, look starboard, a shark is
coming!
- Where dad, where? I can´t see it.

- ¡Yo le detendré! – dijo fulanito
sacando el palo de la escoba como
si fuera un arpón para cazar al
peluche que les acababa
de lanzar mamá.
- I will stop it! – Fulanito said, putting
out the broomstick as if it was a
harpoon to hunt the teddy that mum
had just thrown.

Otro día fueron al cine:
-Bienvenidos al cine, ¿tienen sus entradas
a “Doctor Dolitlle”?- dijo papá-.
- Si, aquí están.
- ¿Quieren palomitas? - dijo mamá.
- ¡Siiii! - gritaron a la vez Filomena y
Fulanito.
El salón de casa parecía un cine de
verdad.
Another day they went to the cinema:
- Welcome to the cinema, have you got
your tickets to “Doctor Dolitlle”? –
Dad said.
- Yes, here you have.
- Do you want popcorn? – said mum.
- Yeeess! – screamed at the same time
Filomena and Fulanito.
The living room looked like a real
cinema.

Cada día era una aventura nueva:
- ¡Damas y caballeros, bienvenidos a la
feria! ¡Síganme! Primero el gusano
loco.
- ¡Toma! ¡Mi favorito!
- A continuación, la noria.
Giraban en una sábana en el suelo
movida por mamá, mientras
gritaban:
- ¡Yuju! ¡Aaaahhh! ¡Qué me caigo!
¡Abróchate el cinturón!
Every day was a new adventure:
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the
fair! Follow me, please! First, the crazy
worm.
Ouh yeah! That´s my favourite one!
Then, the big Wheel.
They spinned over a blanket on the floor
moved by their mum while they shouted:
Yujuuuu! Aaaahhhh! I am falling! Fasten
your belt!

- Y, por último, las camas elásticas,
¡pero solo dura 1 minuto!
Se pusieron a saltar sobre la
cama de papá y
mamá, cosa que
nunca les dejaban
hacer
normalmente.
- And the last one, the trampoline.
It lasts for only 1 minute, though!
They started to jump over their
parents´ bed. It was
a strange thing which
they were usually not
allowed to do.

Para terminar un gran día en la feria se
comieron unas patatas fritas en
cucurucho.
La imaginación no tenía límites.
El día de la gymckana jugaron a
muchísimos juegos como: meter la cara
en un barreño de agua y luego en uno de
harina para buscar
monedas de chocolate.
To finish a great day at the fair, they ate
a cone of fries.
The imagination had no limits.
The Gymckana´s day they played to a
lot of games, such as: putting their faces
inside a bowl full of water and then
dipping them inside a flour one to search
chocolate coins.

También hacían concursos de disfraces
y bailes. Incluso un día fueron al
Aquapark con sus bañadores y gafas de
buceo.
Cuando
terminaron
tomaron el
sol a través
de las
ventanas.
Also, they did disguises and dance
contests. One day, they even went to a
WaterPark with their own swimsuits and
googles.
When they
finished, they
sunbathed
through the
windows.

Aunque Filomena no podía jugar al fútbol,
estaba muy contenta por practicar
otros deportes: bolos, baloncesto con
papeleras de canasta, voleibol con
globos, etc.
La diversión no tenía fin, y
tampoco la creatividad
de los padres y de los
hijos.
Although Filomena couldn´t play
football, she was very happy about
practicing other sports: bowling,
basketball with paper bins as baskets,
volleyball with balloons, etc.
The fun was endless and so was
the parents´ and children’s
creativity..

CAPITULO IV
Contactando con los seres queridos.
- ¡Abuelito! ¿Cómo estás? Te echo de
menos…
- ¡Qué alegría poder verte por
WhatsApp, Fulanito! Estás muy guapo,
¿Está por ahí tu hermana? Dile que se
ponga, hombre.
- Filomenaaa! Ven que el yayo quiere
verte.
EPISODE IV
Contacting the loved ones.
- Grandpa! How are you? I miss you…
- What a joy seeing you on WhatsApp,
Fulanito! You´re very handsome, is
your sister there? Tell her to come.
- Filomenaaaa! Come over here,
Grandpa wants to see you.

- ¡Ya voy, que estaba haciendo pan con
Papá!
Todos los días hacían una llamada y los
fines de semana dos.
- Coming. I was making bread with
daddy!
Everyday they made a call and on
weekends they did two.

Llamaban a sus compañeros de clase, a
sus amigos, a sus familiares…
De esta forma los días se hacían más
cortos, con un poquito más de amor,
aunque fuese a través de una pantalla.
Sus llamadas favoritas eran a sus amigos
del parque, porque jugaban por el
ordenador; Un día hicieron un concurso
de “Tu Cara me Suena”.
They phoned their classmates, their
friends, their relatives…
In that way, days became shorter and
lovelier, although calls were made
through a screen.
Their favourite calls were those to their
park mates because they played on
the computer. One day they had a
contest about “Your face sounds
familiar”.

Su tía les llamaba para contarles cuentos
en inglés, ya que a Filomena le encantaba.
Sus favoritos eran los de “Winnie the
Witch”.
Además, se escribían cartas con sus
amigos y de esta forma se sentían
acompañados. Se
intercambiaban dibujos,
adivinanzas, juegos de
lógica y muchas cosas
más.
Their aunt phoned them to tell them
tales in English because Filomena
adored them. Her favourite ones were
“Winnie the Witch”.
Also, they wrote letters to their friends,
in this way the felt accompanied. They
exchanged drawings, riddles, logic
games and many more things.

El día de la madre hicieron un poema, lo
metieron en un sobre y lo dejaron en su
propio buzón.
A mamá le hizo tanta
ilusión que lloró de
alegría.
On Mother´s Day they wrote a poem,
put it on an envelope and left it on their
own mailbox.
It made mum so happy
that she cried with joy.

El poema decía lo siguiente:
Querida mamá,
te queremos contar
algo muy especial.
Nos da mucha alegría
verte en casa cada día.
Nos pone muy contentos
verte en cada momento.
Estos niños traviesos
te mandan besitos de queso.
The poem went this way:
Dear mum,
We want to tell
A special tale.
It´s juts sublime
to see you all the time.
You give us power
every hour.
This naughty kids
Send you a kiss.

Como las tiendas estaban cerradas y no
pudieron comprar nada, el poema fue
una gran idea.
Aprendieron la siguiente lección:
“En un regalo lo más importante es la
intención y el cariño con el que se hace”.
As shops were closed, they couldn´t
buy anything, so the poem was a great
idea.
They learnt the following lesson:
“The most important thing in a present
is the intention and the affection that
you put in it”.

CAPITULO V- La ciudad de los niños
Durante una semana solo salieron a la
calle los niños y las niñas. Todo estaba
precioso, el aire estaba limpio, olía a
primavera, las flores estaban muy
coloridas y los pájaros piaban contentos.
Antes de salir, Fígaro, su Papá, les explicó
cómo había que hacer bien las cosas:
EPISODE V- The children´s city
During a week only the children went
out. All was wonderful, the air was
clean, it smelt of spring, the flowers
were very colourful, and the birds
tweeted happily.
Before going outside, Figaro, their dad
explained them how to behave properly:

-Y acordaros, nada de ir a jugar con
otros niños. Solo podemos estar nosotros
juntos. Solo vamos a salir una hora así
que aprovechad bien el tiempo. Además,
no toquéis las cosas de la calle. Y cuando
volvamos a casa hay que lavarse bien las
manos.
-Vale, Papá. – Dijeron Filomena y Fulanito
a la vez.
- And remember, don´t play with
other kids. We can just be ourselves
together. We´re going outside for
only one hour, so get the most out of
it. What´s more, don´t touch things
on the street. And when we come
back home you must wash your
hands properly.
- Ok, dad. – Said Filomena and Fulanito
at once.

Por las calles solo se veían niños jugando
con sus padres. Sus gritos llenaban el aire
de alegría y color.
Filomena y Fulanito querían hacer la
croqueta en esos jardines tan verdes y
frescos, pero papá no les dejó. Había una
cinta muy extraña cerrando el parque.
Filomena corría con su balón calle arriba,
calle abajo. Y gritaba:
- ¡Soy una goleadora! ¡Para esta
Fulanito!
There were only kids playing with their
parents on the street. Their shouts filled
the air with joy and colour.
Filomena and Fulanito wanted to roll
around on the green and cool gardens.
However, dad didn´t allow them. There
was a weird ribbon closing the park.
Filomena ran with her ball up and down
the street yelling:
- I´m a scorer! Stop this one, Fulanito!

- Pues claro que la voy a parar.
En un abrir y cerrar de ojos, el tiempo de
calle se acababa. Papá señalaba su reloj
de
muñeca y
decía:
- Of course, I´m stopping it!
In the blink of an eye, playing time was
over. Dad pointed to his watch and said:

- ¡Chicos, ya es la hora! Vamos a casa,
quitaros las zapatillas en la puerta y
lavaros las manos.
Pronto la ciudad de los niños dejó de
durar todo el día. Solo podían salir un
rato por la mañana o por la tarde. Decía
Mamá que ahora había tres mundos a lo
largo del día y había que respetarlos.
Uno de niños, otro de mayores y otro de
abuelos.
- Guys, time´s up! Let´s go home, take
off your shoes at the front door and
wash your hands
The children´s city soon was not full
time. They could only go out for a while
during the morning or the afternoon.
Mum said that now there were three
worlds during the day, and they had to
be respected. One was for children,
another for adults and another for
elders.

Poco a poco la ciudad iba abriendo
tiendas, parques, cines, bares para
tomar batidos de chocolate y otras
muchas cosas más.
En casa, todos estaban más contentos.
Aprendieron que jugar al aire libre y
observar la naturaleza era algo muy
valioso que no querían volver a perder.
¿Qué fue lo primero que sentisteis al
salir a la calle?
The city opened itself step by step: shops,
parks, cinemas, bars where you could
drink a chocolate milkshake and many
more things.
The family was happier. They learnt that
playing outside and observing Nature
was something very valuable. They didn´t
want to lose it again.
