Dear Brother Jaime P. Martinez, Familia Latina Unida, are proud to have a leader like yourself and
your organization to take the lead in bringing together your extended friends, organizations and
coalitions to the effort of rescuing and bringing together the Salmeron family. 2 million is too many
deportations and thousands of US children, dreamers have been left in the US or have been deported
with their parents. These families would be legal already if it weren’t for broken promises by President
Obama, and the Congressional stalemate by both parties. Now families are targets in Mexico and
Central America of extortion and kidnapping for ransom.
As our Texas representative of the Coordinadora 14, and National leader of Familia Latina Unida, we
are asking for your help, expertise and your organizational connections to sponsor a fundraiser to help
us with the cost. Any donations checks should be made out to Centro Sin Fronteras our non for
profit status information is available upon request. Thank you for your commitment to sponsor a
press conference and a public forum with leaders from all sectors in San Antonio. We also request that
the San Antonio Mayor and City Council consider adopting a resolution supporting the demand to bring
immediate relief to the families that suffer separation and a sample resolution is attached.
We plan to bring a delegation to San Antonio and the Laredo border for the rescue mission of Marlen
and the Children to reunite them with father and husband Gustavo. We are operating with very little
resources but filled with hope of the resurrected Jesus. Our delegation includes Elvira Arellano human
rights defender who recently returned to the US after 7 years of deportation and her infant son
Emilliano, Mr. Gustavo Salmeron, Julie Contreras and 2 attorneys Chris Bergin and John Antilla, Jose
Jacques Medina, and Marta Sanchez, Marlen Salmeron her 2 children. Rev. Walter Coleman and
myself.
After Mrs. Salmeron presents herself and request asylum at the border with her two US children, she
will be detained awaiting and interview for credible fear and the results. Her 2 US children will join
their father and the delegation.
Our hope is that she be released on Parole so that she can explore a permanent solution here in the US
with her family and to bring attention to the thousands of families that are deported each day and the 2
million that have already been deported and their struggle in poverty and danger. Also to find a safe
solution for families in immediate danger to present themselves to the Customs Border Patrol at the
border and not risk their lives crossing with Coyotes, or through the desert or mountains.
We have 2 demands:
1. President to use his executive power to extend DACA for all
2. Temporary emergency parole for those who are in danger so they can return safely to their
families in the US.
