Ensto is a family businessEnsto is a family business and an international cleantech company founded by Ensio Miettinen in 1958.

Ensio´s vision for products was to make them easier to install and better to use in comparison to the competition.

The ownership of the company was transferred to the next generation of the Miettinen family in 2001. The third generation is about to enter to the business.

Ensio Miettinen, the founder of Ensto


It all started with passion and a visionEnsio Miettinen founded a company to manufacture electrical accessories

in Porvoo, Finland in 1958.

1950’s 1960’s

Production diversified into plastic components, assembly and tools.

First foreign subsidiary was started in Sweden in 1973. Exports expanded to Norway, Iraq and Egypt.Light fitting manufacturing started.

1970’s


Ensto has a period of rapid expansion, primarily to other Nordic countries. Ensto becomes a strong, significant brand in the market. Robotics is introduced to manufacturing.

Ensto becomes increasingly international. Acquisitions and start-ups of companies in Hungary, Poland, Russia and the Baltics.

The ownership of the company was transferred to the next generation of the Miettinen family. Ensto invested in office electrification business in France. The era of the new green strategy begins in 2009.

New businesses were acquired to support Ensto’s focus on energy efficiency: ventilation and lighting in Finland, network automation as well as office electrification in France. A production plant in India was opened. 3D printing was introduced.

Today Ensto is an international Cleantech company with a strong growth strategy and passion to make the world more sustainable and energy efficient.
