sencillo y menos en las condiciones económicas en las que se encuentra el país

a pesar de sus índices de reactivación. Es por ello, que debemos manifestarle a

turismo y numerosas actividades como el rafting, la pesca, el turismo aventura, entre otras.Antes del fenómeno del Hotel de Hielo, algunos turistas visitaron Jukkasjärvi a través del largo, oscuro y nevado invierno sueco, sin embargo en 1989 Jukkas AB, decidió darle una oportunidad a la temporada de invierno en un lugar tan inhóspito como en Jukkas-

järvi.Todo comenzó en ese año, cuando unos artistas japoneses visita-ron la zona con el objetivo de hacer una exhibición de arte, y luego continuó con la realización de un igloo, realizado con un bloque de hielo directamente extraído desde el río Torne, con el cual el artista francés Jannot Derid abrió su exhibición de pinturas.Cientos de visitantes quedaron maravillados a través de los 60m2 de galería de arte, a la cual denominaron “Salón Ártico”. Una no-che, un puñado de visitantes pasaron toda la noche en este igloo realizado para la muestra, y a la mañana siguiente se encontraron maravillados y excitados por la noche que habían pasado, los or-ganizadores dijeron, “el Salón Ártico no fue pensado como un hotel para pasar la noche, pero sin embargo se encontraron con que los sorpresivos huéspedes lo encontraron calido y excitante”, el hotel de hielo estaba naciendo.

El hotel de hielo, una realidad.Con el pasar de los años, se ha construido ya el Hotel de Hielo número 15 y de esta manera se convirtió en el primero hotel echo completamente de hielo y nieve, comenzando desde aquel mo-desto igloo que significo el “Salón Ártico”, ahora se erigen 4000 m2 con alrededor de 3000 toneladas de hielo y unos 30.000 m3 de nieve.Cada construcción de los Hoteles de Hielo, fueron variando un poco en la cantidad de habitaciones que poseía, llegando en el 2004/2005 a tener 85 habitaciones, la recepción del hotel, un hall central, una galería de arte de hielo, el famoso Absolut Ice Bar, un cine de hielo con pantalla de hielo y la gloriosa Iglesia de Hielo donde numerosas bodas se realizan en un marco mas que espectacular.Pero a la noche todo queda opacado por el Absolut Icebar, donde uno pude beber, en los mismos hielos “in the rocks” (vasos de hielo) que fueron extraídos directamente desde el río.Al finalizar octubre, unos 13 artistas residentes y constructores co-mienzan su labor antes que el primer huésped arribe a mediados

de diciembre. En ese momento enormes estructuras de acero son utilizadas para sostener las bóvedas de nieve que servirán de estructura para el hotel, que muchas veces llega hasta 5 metros de alto y 6 metros de anchoLuego columnas de bloques de hielo son puestas para darle una estabilidad extra a la nieve que se utilizará. El noviembre del año anterior grandes bloques de hielo fueron extraídos desde el río Torne y fueron depositadas en Jukkasjärvi para su posterior utilización el año entrante.Al comenzar diciembre, la estructura principal esta casi finalizada y los detalles del interior comienzan. El diseño del interior continúa hasta finales de enero donde la temperatura en el interior del hotel es de -5ºC, y las condiciones son relativamente confortables, en comparación a los -40ºC a los que puede caer en el exterior.Los artistas a sierra y cincel tallan lo que serán columnas, ventanas, puertas, camas, sillas, mesas, lámparas y todos los detalles que conformarán el hotel.Cada año son escogidos artistas nacionales e internacionales, y son invitados a diseñar los interiores de las habitaciones. La diversidad y

numerosa combinación de artistas dan como resultado una carac-terística única, llena de magia y misterio, creando cada habitación como si fuera un museo.Otro paso importante en la vida del Hotel de Hielo, fue la construc-ción de “El Globo de Hielo” una copia del teatro “The Globe” de Shakespeare`s en Londres. El proyecto atrajo a numerosos visitan-tes esto hizo que la zona de Kiruna y Gällivare tuvieran que albergar entre 300 y 400 personas por noche.Sin embargo, desafortunadamente en el final de Abril el sol comien-za a derretir la obra maestra. No obstante los últimos huéspedes se retiran también al final de abril, y el hotel continúa trabajando hasta junio cuando se convierte eventualmente en “el hotel de agua”. •

I n Lapland, Sweden, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle lies the vil-lage of Jukkasjärvi by the Torne River. Jukkasjärvi translates “meet-

ing place” in the Sami language, has been a crossroads and market-place for half a millennium. Jukkas AB, the company which started Icehotel, has been involved with tourism since the mid 1970’s and offers numerous activities such as river-rafting, fishing, wilderness adventures, teambuilding, snow-mobiling, dog sledding, reindeer safaris and much more. Before Icehotel, few tourists visited Jukkasjärvi throughout its long, dark, cold and snowy winters. However, in 1989, Jukkas AB (today Icehotel AB) decided to see the winter as an asset instead.It all started in 1989 when Japanese ice artists visited Jukkasjärvi, resulting in an ice art exhibition, which was much discussed and written about. Shortly thereafter, in the spring of 1990, a cylinder-shaped igloo was constructed directly on the ice of the Torne River, where the French artist Jannot Derid had the opening of his exhibi-tion of paintings. Hundreds of visitors marvelled at the 60 m2 art gal-lery which was named Artic Hall. One night, some visitors spent the night on reindeer pelts – and the next morning they were very thrilled

by the night they had spent. Artic Hall was never planned to be a hotel, however well-rested guests maintained that it was a warm and exciting experience.

The idea of Icehotel was born!Now in its fifteenth, Icehotel continues a prosperous and prestigious climb as the world’s first hotel made completely of ice and snow. From its modest one room start a half an a decade ago, Icehotel now boasts 4 000 sq.meters, about 3 000 tons of ice and 30 000 m3 of snow. Since ICEHOTEL melts every spring, the exact number of rooms do vary a little. ICEHOTEL spans over some 4 000 m2. The winter of 2004/2005, we will have 85 rooms includes a hotel reception, a main hall, an ice-art exhibition, the world-famous Absolut Ice Bar, Icehotel Cinema with ice-screen, the glorious Ice Church where many weddings and christenings take place, and of course – all hotel rooms. In the evenings, all gather in the Absolut Icebar to have

to design the interiors of certain rooms. The diverse styles of the nu-merous artists in combination with the characteristics of the ice result in a museum-like atmosphere full of magic, mystery, and surprises as one meanders from room to room. Another major step is that we will build ”The Ice Globe Theatre” – a copy of Shakespeare’s ”The Globe” on the Thames in London. The project is hoped to attract a large number of visitors to the region andwe count on being able to accommodation 300-400 hotelbeds per night in the Kiruna and Gällivare areas.However unfortunate, in late April the sun’s rays begin to melt the recently completed masterpiece. Even though the last guests check out in late April, work continues into June when the Icehotel eventu-ally becomes a water hotel. •

a drink “in the rocks”, from glasses cut from river ice.At the end of October, about thirty resident artists and builders get busy before the arrival of the first guests in mid-December. Snow canons and front loaders help to mould the snow over vaulted steel forms, some forms as large as 5 meters high and 6 meters wide. Then ice columns are put in place, to give extra support to the free-standing snow vaults. In late November, the builders remove ice from the Torne River aided by tractors and special ice saws and ice tools developed here in Jukkasjärvi. Also a stock of river ice since the winter before is used to start the building. In the beginning of December, the main structure nears comple-tion and refinement of the interior begins. The interior design con-tinues into late January. With an constant indoor temperature of about –5ºC, the indoor working conditions are relatively comfortable compared to the outside temperature which can drop below -40ºC. Late into the evening, the sculptors saw and chisel the ice blocks to create, amongst other things: architectural details, windows, doors, columns, desks, beds, chairs, tables, lamps, and sculptures. Every year, hand picked national and international guest artists are invited

Un lugar paradisíaco Descubiertas por Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca en su viaje desde Santa Catalina (Brasil) hacia Asunción (Paraguay), fueron bautizadas como Saltos de Santa María en homenaje a la Virgen protectora de la ex-pedición. Sin embargo, el nombre que hoy detentan hace referencia al río que les da origen y está tomado de la lengua guaraní (Y-Guazú) que significa “agua grande”. Las Cataratas del Iguazú se encuentran a veintitrés kilómetros de la desembocadura

del río homónimo en el río Paraná. Nacido en la Serra del Mar a más de 1300 (mil trescientos) metros de altura, el río Iguazú recorre un trayecto de aproximadamente 500 (quinientos) kilómetros por territorios brasileños antes de llegar a su fin. El ancho promedio de su cuenca es de aproximada-mente 700 (setecientos) metros ampliándo-se, a partir de la isla San Agustín, a unos 1500 (mil quinientos) metros en total. Este fenómeno, que contiene una gran falla que da origen a un abrupto desnivel territorial, explica la formación de esta maravilla de la naturaleza que hoy recorremos a la distancia a través del papel. Un centenar de islas, islotes y otros escollos

de la naturaleza fragmentan al para enton-ces anchísimo Iguazú. De este modo nacen las 275 (doscientos setenta y cinco) casca-das que conforman las Cataratas del Iguazú en su conjunto. El arco posee una extensión de unos 3 (tres) kilómetros, de los cuales unos 600 (seiscientos) metros pertenecen al Brasil. El límite se halla en el Salto Unión, desde el que nace la caída más famosa de todas: la Garganta del Diablo. Además de la mencionada Garganta del Diablo, quien visita este lugar puede recorrer a pie y con total comodidad y seguridad to-dos los saltos que conforman las Cataratas del Iguazú. Para ello, se han construido pa-sarelas y escaleras que, iniciando la visita en

el lado argentino, se hallan instaladas sobre los márgenes del río y nos permiten llegar al corazón mismo de este monumento natu-ral. Mitre; Belgrano; Rivadavia; San Martín; Tres Mosqueteros; Dos Hermanas; Adán y Eva y Bozzetti. Tales son los nombres de los principales saltos que el turista puede conocer. La altura de las caídas de agua es varia-ble, oscilando entre los 50 (cincuenta) y 80 (ochenta) metros en promedio. El volumen medio de agua es de unos 1700 (mil se-tecientos) metros cúbicos por segundo. Las abundantes lluvias que se producen durante todo el año, cuyo nivel supera los 1600 milímetros en la región, permiten que

el turista conozca y disfrute las Cataratas del Iguazú en todas las estaciones. Para garantizar el cuidado y la preservación de este lugar y de las zonas que lo rodean, fue creado el Parque Nacional Iguazú. Sobre un paisaje dominado por el color rojizo de sus tierras, gracias a la presencia de un alto porcentaje de óxido de hierro en su confor-mación, en él habitan más de 400 (cuatro-cientas) especies de aves y otros cientos de especies animales, algunas en peligro de extinción como el yaguareté, declarado por tal motivo Monumento Natural Provincial. La flora de la zona es también abundante y variada. El Parque Nacional Iguazú alber-ga más de dos mil especies vegetales que

conforma la tupida selva misionera. Con grandes porciones de territorio inexplo-radas, éste es uno de los ambientes natu-rales más ricos de nuestro país. Su exhube-rancia se explica por la elevada humedad de la zona, a la que se suma la benevolencia de su clima, en el que las temperaturas me-dias son de aproximadamente 20 (veinte) grados centígrados.

Oferta múltiple y diversa Como hemos visto, la naturaleza invita a co-nocer y disfrutar de las Cataratas del Iguazú y de la belleza del Parque Nacional que las alberga. Sin embargo, una muy variada ofer-ta turística en la zona permite a quienes la

recorren no sólo detenerse en estos puntos al momento de emprender un viaje por la región. A tan sólo unos pocos kilómetros del lugar se erige la ciudad de Puerto Iguazú. Desde allí nacen excursiones hacia regiones selvá-ticas que están prácticamente inexploradas y que ponen en contacto al visitante con las comunidades aborígenes todavía existentes en la zona, además de permitir el avistaje de pájaros exóticos y disfrutar de las ricas flora y faunas regionales. En Puerto Iguazú existe un aeropuerto in-ternacional que facilita el acceso cómodo y rápido a esta zona y se ha desarrollado una muy variada oferta hotelera y gastronómica que se adapta a todos los gustos y posi-bilidades. La ciudad se halla en la confluencia de los ríos Iguazú y Paraná, y un paseo obligado lo constituye el mirador en el que se halla el Hito Argentino. Forma un balcón natural que mira hacia Brasil (sobre el río Iguazú inferior) y al Paraguay (a través del Alto Paraná) A través del Puente Internacional Tancredo Neves la ciudad se conecta con ambos países vecinos. De esta manera, no sólo es posible visitar las Cataratas desde el lado brasileño, sino también conocer Ciudad del Este (Paraguay), una ciudad en la que, por su condición de puerto libre, el comercio

ocupa un lugar preponderante. Hacia am-bos destinos es posible embarcarse en ex-cursiones durante el día. Declaradas Patrimonio Mundial Natural de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, las Cata-ratas del Iguazú son un punto turístico que merece ser conocido y disfrutado. Sólo es cuestión de animarse y emprender el rumbo hacia una de las grandes reservas naturales que, afortunadamente, todavía nuestro país conserva y ofrece al mundo. •

Dot Magazine se reunió con Roberto Murchison para que nos diera su punto de vista sobre la zona de Zárate – Campana y al nos con-tara un poco la historia del Grupo Murchison.

Dot Magazine: Queríamos consultarle como es su visión del comple-jo Zarate – campana, su importancia a nivel nacional (Buenos aires y argentina) y su potencial frente a otros puertos (Que pueden haBer en argentina) RobeRto MuRchison: En primer lugar, creo que hacen bien en ha-blar de lo referente al complejo, que es un área muy interesante por una serie de razones: su ubicación estratégica desde el punto de vista logístico. En primer lugar desde un punto de vista terrestre, ya que el complejo está próximo a las rutas nacionales 9 y 14 (que unen los dos Paraná y la mesopotámica con la pampa húmeda y la

ruta 9 une rosario y Córdoba y eventualmente con el norte del país y Paraguay) Y en segundo lugar esta el anillo del conurbano bonaerense, que termina en Campana. Por lo tanto, el complejo está ubicado en el corazón del MERCOSUR.Desde el punto de vista ferroviario, la zona de Zarate es muy impor-tante, porque en ella confluyen el Nuevo Central Argentino, el BAP y el Mesopotámico.

Dot: ¿cómo se compone la terminal Zárate (tZ)? R.M: TZ es un complejo portuario que tiene dos terminales: una especializada en ATZ (Terminal automotriz) y una de carga general. TZ que opera al lado de ATZ, comparten el muelle e instalaciones para el personal pero que trabajan y se ha especializado en cosas completamente diferentes.Nosotros fuimos los principales operadores del puerto de Buenos

Aires en la década del 90 y ya entonces se hablaba de la privatiza-ción de los puertos y, a nivel mundial, se tendía a que los puertos no se ubiquen en las ciudades. (a que las ciudades sofoquen a los puertos, ya que necesitan espacios y áreas, y cuando vimos que esto se venia). Nos dimos cuenta que la gran mayoría de las cargas venían desde el norte de la General Paz y buscamos un lugar dentro de la hidrovía del Río Paraná, que es mucho mas navegable que el Río de la Plata, al que es necesario dragarloEn 1999 nos pusimos a buscar un puerto eficiente, con buenas co-nexiones terrestres y fluviales. Ambas condiciones las encontramos Zárate dónde, además, encontramos numerosa mano de obra, ne-cesaria para una actividad como ésta.

Dot: ¿ustedes implementaron nuevas tecnologías para un mejor mane-jo de las terminales como así tamBién para ofrecer nuevos servicios a sus clientes, no es así?

Dot: otra cosa remarcaBle es la certificación iso 9001 Que ustedes poseen ¿no es así?R.M: Es correcto y con una actualización en referencia exclusiva a la Terminal Zarate Automotores. Estamos en actual certificación por de lo referido a la Terminal de contenedores.Esta certificación nos ha ayudado a plasmar una serie de prodeci-mientos y asegurarnos de dar un servicio de calidad.Al mismo tiempo no solamente la certificación sino también los reco-nocimientos que hemos tenido por parte de nuestros clientes que nos ha brindado premios como proveedores del año. General Mo-tors nos ha reconocido en el mundo como una compañía ideal en relación precio-costo del servicio a la que ellos quieren llegar. Esto nos pone muy orgullosos, primero como empresa portuaria y luego como argentinos diciendo que General Motors confía en nosotros para todo lo referente al trabajo con sus productos, esto a nivel inter-

R.M: Nosotros llevamos más de cien años en el servicio portuario. Ya en la década del 60 entregábamos contenedores en planta con transporte ferroviario y ya desde entonces era un gran trabajo logís-tico, pese a que nosotros no nos gusta o somos bastante reacios a usar la palabra logística, ya que para nosotros eso es realmente algo muy importante para utilizar esa palabra, pero por las libertades que nos da esa palabra a nivel argentina, se puede decir que acá poseemos todo lo necesario para una buena implementación logís-tica a nivel industria preferenciando lo relacionado a una empresa portuaria, y somos una empresa relacionada con todo lo referente a la logística ya que.Poseemos depósitos fiscales en el puerto de Buenos Aires, y ope-ramos también en Uruguay. Pero en Terminal Zarate somos opera-dores portuarios, que tienen nexo con cadenas logísticas con las cuales también podemos ofrecer servicios desde o hacia las plantas o centros de distribución de nuestros clientes.

nacional y a nivel nacional fuimos reconocidos por Fiat y Ford.(Todo esto hace de las ventajas hablando de un “ínter modalismo” en referencia al complejo TZ en Zarate – Campana)Por un lado la ubicación geográfica, los cuales nos permiten tener una buena cadena logística y por otro lado el reconocimiento desde hace 108 años relacionándonos y brindando un desvió ferroviario en conjunto con el NCA hasta planta, el cual cuando había una exportación hacia el norte de Europa el 40% de las cargas llega-ban por este medio dando cuenta de que las cadenas logísticas con el ferrocarril realmente funcionan y muy bien, estaba muy bien aceitado, el ferrocarril lo tomaba del cliente, el ferrocarril a nosotros y nosotros al buque y esto da que cuando las cadenas logísticas son transparentes y bien trabadas hacen que los costos bajen, y sobre todo por el lugar que nosotros ocupamos en el mundo, como argentina, y es por ello que las cadenas logísticas deben ser de un costo bajo, que en el fondo son altas en relación a otros lugares del mundo justamente por esto que hablamos de nuestra ubicaciones en el mundo, frente a nuestras competencias, Candada México,

para poder competir y llegar bien).

Dot: ¿como ve a murchison desde hoy mirando al futuro?R.M: Nosotros vemos el futuro consolidándonos como una terminal portuaria y agregando nuevos servicios, específicamente en todo lo referente a los almacenajes especiales para determinados pro-ductos. Murchison suscribe a la ley de puertos, la cual es muy clara en materia de descentralizar los puertos.Como grupo apostamos a la Argentina, pese a tener un nombre y apellido escoceses, y seguimos siendo una empresa familiar. No sólo en Zárate hemos invertido, sino también en la Terminal de San Antonio, para trabajar junto a los productores frutícolas. A diferencia de la época de nuestros abuelos, el servicio se ha transformado en un negocio de capital intensivo. Hay que invertir en grúas y en la re-colección de datos. Hemos sido pioneros en la implementación de estas tecnologías y servicios, en el marco de una fuerte competen-cia con empresas multinacionales. Además, logramos consolidar-nos en el área de vehículos y todo eso nos pone muy orgullosos.

Dot Magazine connected Robert Murchison son to ask him his point of view about the Zárate Campana area and at the same time to comment to us the history of the Murchison group.

Dot: We Want to ask you your vision of the Zárate campana complex and at the same time to tell us the history of the murchison group.RobeRto MuRchison: In the first place, I think you hit on the nail speaking about the complex. It is a very interesting area for several reasons, among them it location that gives it a strategic situation from a logistic point of view due to globalization and geographic place-ment of industry. Zárate Campana fulfills perfectly these factors. First of all there is highways 9 and 14 that link Paraná and the Mesopo-tamia with the Pampa Humeda and route 9 that unites Rosario and Córdoba and eventually the north of the country and Paraguay.And there is also the ring of the suburbs of Bs. As. City that ends in Campana, witch has a good highway web, one of the most im-portant of the Mercosur, as you can see in very few places in Ar-gentina.From the railway point of view Zarate is very important because the Nuevo Central Argentino, the B.A.P. and the Mesopotamico join there.

Dot: in reference to tZ s.a., hoW is it formed?R.M.: TZ is a port complex with two terminals; one of them special-ized in cars, ATZ and the other in general merchandise. TZ. They works one beside the other, share the quay and premises for the personnel but the developed and have specialized in completely dif-ferent things.The reason why we are placed there is because of the importance of Zárate Campana for industry. The most important operators of Bs. As. Port in the nineties already people spoke of the privatization of

ports and there was a tendency in the world to situate ports by the city, that the city suffocated ports. With needs territories and areas and when we realized this we saw that most of the freight come from the north of General Paz Ave. and we looked for a place into the waterway of Paraná river that is much more navigable than the Rio de la Plata. offering neW services to clients?R.M. We are in the port trade for a hundred years. Already in the sixties we handed over containers in the plant with railway transporta-tion and it was a important logistic work for those days, though we are rather reticent to us the world logistics because for us that word refers to such very important things. But that word offers some liber-ties in Argentina, so we can say that here we have all that necessary for a good logistic implementation for industry in reference to a port company.And we are a company related to anything connected to logistics because we have fiscal storehouses in Bs. As. Port and we are logistic operators in Uruguay but in Zárate Terminal we are port op-erators. We are connected with logistic sequences with which we can offer to take to or from the plant or distribution centers for our clients.

Dot: another remarkaBle item is the certification iso 9001 that you hold, isn’t it so?R.M.: That’s correct, and with an update exclusive reference to Za-rate Terminal for Automoblils. We are at this moment certifying the reference to containers terminal. This provides you and your clinets a warranty that you are working with a company of over a hundred years in ports and also that you work is certificated by the reast of the industiers and ports.Not only the certification but also the awards we were given by our clients as the providers of the year. GM has recognized us in the world as an ideal company in relation to price – cost – service where they aim at. This makes us very proud first as a port company and secondly as argentines saying that General Motors trusts us in all that refers to work with its products. This is at an international level, and in a domestic level we were distinguished by Fiat and Ford.All these are the advantages of an inter modalism in the TZ in Zárate Campana.On one side the geographic situation which allows us a good logistic chain and on the other side to recognition since 108 years ago of our relationship with clients offering a good railway siding, together with the NCA to plant. When exports to the north of Europe were of a 40% freights that logistic chains of railways worked and worked very well. Railway took the freight from the client, it delivered freights to us

and we transferred it to the ship. As. But industrial plants are far away. It is very expensive to transport freight by rout from Salta or Jujuy and it is very important to keep cost low.

Dot: hoW do you see murchison in the future?R.M.: We see our future straightening as a port Terminal, offering new services, specially in reference to specific storage of certain products in the near future, we consider to grow to offer new serv-ices.Murchison signed the law of ports to decentralize them between 1800 and 1900 Rosario and La Plata were the most important ports, but nowadays, Bs. As. Centralize activities. Thanks to the law of ports it is possible to decentralize ports.As a group we work for Argentina though we have a Scottish name and we are a family company.In 1897 the first Murchison began to invest in the country, today also in Zárate as well as the port Terminal of San Antonio with the fruitier, different from the times of my great great grand father when you chose the workmen, the service has been transformed in a busi-ness of intensive investment. Y no sería bueno si usted sólo pudiera dis-frutar la imagen desde una posición como en una mesa de comedor pero no desde su mesada”, explica Sørensen.La solución fue equipar la BeoVision 6 con un rango de soportes y accesorios de pared que hacen más fácil tanto girar la televisión de lado a lado como direccionarla arriba y abajo. Esta última función implicó un cambio para los encargados de desarrollo de Bang & Olufsen. Los primeros prototipos fueron demasiado poco armoniosos, complicados o difíciles de operar. Cuando la respuesta llegó un día a uno de los ingenieros Bang & Olufsen, fue tan simple que era difícil en-

tender cómo nadie había pensado en eso antes. Un diseño que permite a la televisión girar sobre su propio centro de gravedad es tan-to simple como discreto, y al mismo tiempo hace posible girar una televisión que pesa 18 kilos con la simple presión de un dedo.

Sencillez, eso es lo primero que uno piensa al verlo, de remera, una bermuda y sandalias, recién llegado de ver al traumatólogo

después del primer partido del Abierto Argentino 2005, del cual él es campeón defensor, Eduardo Heguy nos brinda un rato de su tiempo, sin alejarse de su celular, con el cual esta comunicado con la caballeriza, para charlar con Dot, y contarnos sobre su vida, su pasión, los caballos, y así poder conocer un poco mas a una per-sona que tubo el privilegio de jugar con la Familia Real de Brunei, el príncipe Carlos de Inglaterra entre otros, y en lugares exóticos como el lago helado de Saint Moritz, Francia.Durante el reportaje se brindo a pleno a todas nuestras preguntas, y antes de terminarlo fuimos invitados al campo que Indios Chapaleufu II posee en zona oeste para poder apreciar en la intimidad a la familia y ver un entrenamiento junto a ellos, la cual agradecemos y donde pasamos un momento muy grato.

eduardo heguy, como te definirías?eDuaRDo heguY: Soy una persona sencilla de campo, que le gus-ta las cosas como cualquier otra persona del interior, tomar mate, disfrutar de los asados, estar con la familia disfrutar del aire libre y la libertad. Fanático de la cría de los caballos y todo lo relacionado a lo que sea del campo argentino. Tengo la habilidad de pegarle bien a la pelota, andar bien a caballo y de haber nacido en una familia con tradición en el deporte del Polo, que me facilito todo eso para ser hoy lo que soy, estar compitiendo en el mas alto nivel del polo mundial por más de 20 años. Y ser el actual campeón argentino.

Dot: ¿Que se siente ser parte de la dinastía heguy?eh: Es un orgullo y es algo que surgió muy natural, campo nací me crié con mi padre y mi tío ganando en Palermo, siendo los mejores del mundo, mi abuelo también había sido campeón argentino, o sea que fue todo muy natural. Quizás las personas no se imaginan, tuve cero de presión, al contrario mis padres trataron inculcarme

estudiara primero y que terminara una carrera universitaria, que no lo lograron (Risas) pero incursione en la universidad unos 3 años deambule por ahí, hasta que me dedique al profesionalismo de lleno pero primero estaba el estudio y después el deporte, mi padre había sido amateur toda su vida y los tiempos cambian todos los deportes van evolucionando y cambiando, el polo no ha sido la excepción tanto mis hermanos y yo somos profesionales y vivimos del polo.

Dot: ¿y como se compone tu familia?eh: Soy casado con Paz, Tengo un hijo de 2 años que se llama cruz, y una beba que nació con 6 meses, el 2 de noviembre, que tendría que haber nacido el 20 de enero, las mujeres vienen mas apuradas que antes; ya no le gusta estar en la panza (risas) 28 semanas con 1.400 Kg. y esta en incubadora en estos momentos por un par de meses, se llama Pampa, Pampa Heguy. Un varón y una mujer y aumentando la familia espero!.Mi familia, somos 3 hermanos varones, Pepe y Nachi que juegan conmigo en el equipo, Tomas que es el inteligente de la familia, que

no juega al polo, que ha sido medalla de oro en el colegio y master en Stanford, Estados Unidos en California y que trabaja actualmente en Paris, padre y madre una familia muy grande. Dot:¿lugar de origen?eh: Nacido en Buenos Aires Capital Federa y lugar criado y que me siento de Intendente Gral. Alvear La Pampa, Pampeano.

Dot: yendo un poco mas a tu presente, el polo, las competencias. para esta temporada, ¿Que esperas?eh: Espero divertirme, retener la copa y el titulo argentino, es el objetivo máximo, estamos complicados porque uno de mis herma-nos, Nachi, que no puede jugar los 2 primeros partidos de Palermo y eso va a dificultar el entrenamiento y el ritmo del equipo, pero el año pasado no nos tenían en cuenta que podíamos ganar, pero terminamos levantando el trofeo máximo mundial y este año se nos hace mas difícil todavía pero hay que ponerle garra y ser optimista y tratar de salir adelante.

Dot: ¿hoy en día, disfrutas más el jugar, Que el “competir” en cada partido, como en una primera etapa?eh: Lo vivís distinto, antes cuando es la madurez de tantos años de competencia, antes era mas natural, no te dabas cuenta de lo que estabas jugando, y hoy después de 20 años de estar en este nivel y sabiendo que el retiro esta cada vez mas cerca, por una cuestión evolutiva, una cuestión de años, trato de disfrutar los momentos.Mirar para atrás decir que lindo que fue todo lo que hice, que lin-do que es este deporte, y el entorno que tiene. Desde la vida de campo, los petiseros, las mateadas, los entrenamientos con mis hermanos y mis compañeros compartir todo eso, tratar de disfrutar-lo y verlo de otra manera, sin tanta presión con mas alegría y mas idea de que es “esto”.Mi padre me había puesto en el equipo, tenía habilidad, era mas inconciente de lo que pasaba, ahora ya siendo mas conciente, lo disfrutas distinto.

Dot: un poco de lo Que estaBas haBlando, se tienen recuerdos y

anécdotas, coméntanos uno de los lugares más exóticos a los Que fuiste a jugar.eh: He jugado en muchos lugares en el mundo, les puedo comen-tar que eh jugado en el lago helado de Saint Mortiz, o he jugado en Brunei en un estadio con luz artificial, donde la pelota se veía mejor de noche que con luz de día. O he jugado en Australia, en un show que es lo mas parecido a “La Rural” en una pista como una cancha de fútbol, tres contra tres de noche y cada vez que le pegabas fuer-te a la bocha le pegabas al público en las tribunas y era loquísimo. Me ha tocado lugares distintos en el mundo, pero todos ellos han sido muy extraños.

Dot: siempre se dice Que los polistas Que van a jugar, son contra-tados por distintas personalidades, pero estas personas no están al nivel para jugar con ustedes. ¿es así?eh: Nosotros hemos estado con contrato con la familia real de Brunei, he jugado con el sultán de Brunei, con el príncipe y me ha tocado jugar exhibiciones con ellos, contra el príncipe Carlos de Inglaterra. Pero lo bueno es que nos contrataron y nos tratan por lo

que somos, deportistas y que te admiran por la forma de jugar que nosotros tenemos y nosotros no los tratamos como reyes o sulta-nes sino como compañeros de equipos cuando estas en la cancha y se bajan del pedestal y vuelven al mundo terrenal y comparten el deporte disfrutan arriba del caballo, lo que nosotros practicamos, el polo.

Dot: vos hace un rato nos comentastes soBre el retiro después de 20 años de profesión, ¿Que nos podes decir, como lo vivís y lo soñas?eh: El día que termine de jugar seguramente estaré y seguiré ligado al polo, pero no se cuando ese día llegara, quizás pase cuando deje de divertirme dentro de la cancha y que me de cuenta de que no soy competitivo. Quizás faltan muchos años, o no, pero siempre voy a estar cerca del polo, ayudando a los chicos jóvenes, o ayudando el día de mañana mi hijo o mis sobrinos, a que amen y aprendan este deporte como me lo inculco mi padre y mi abuelo.

Dot: y por ultimo, ¿como te ves de aca a 20 años?

eh: Me veo en La Pampa, en Intendente Alvear, con mis amigos dis-frutando con mi familia y con mis amigos, comiendo asados, tomando mate y criando caballos, y haciendo una vida mucho mas tranquila, menos viajes y con mas tiempo para lo que me gusta y con mas tiem-po para estar en el campo y con mis seres queridos. Yo he viajado por todo el mundo, estoy 7 meses del año afuera, y poder estar acá y en mi tierra Argentina, no hay nada comparado a eso. Lamentablemente no la he podido conocer como quisiese, solamente 3 o 4 días en el norte o en el sur pero quiero conocerla, disfrutar de los paisajes, de la gente y porque como esto, en el resto del mundo no hay, es lo que en un futuro quiero disfrutar. •

freedom, also passionate about horses and everything related to the Argentinean field. I have the ability to hit the ball well, ride horses, and to be born in a Polo family. This things give me the opportunity to be in the top level competition during 20 years, and to be the last Argentinean champ.

Dot: hoW do you feel to Be part of the heguy dynasty?eh: I am proud of it and is something very natural to me, I was born and grew up with my father, and uncle winning the Palermo Open, being the best of the world, my grandfather also was a champ so this is very natural for me, may be the common person, I do not know that, I have zero pressure from my family, otherwise my par-ents tried to make me study first , and then the university, they didn’t (laugh), but I tried during 3 years, up to when I dedicated to polo full time.My father was amateur, but times change and now my brothers and I are professionals of the polo and live on it.

Dot: Who composes your family?EH: I’m married to Paz, I have 2 kids, one called Cruz and the other, just born November the second, she was delivered with 6 months,

Dot: Where Were you Born?eh: Born in Buenos Aires, Capital, and grew up and feel from In-tendente Genral Alvear, La Pampa, like a Pampeano I feel.

Dot: at the present days, the polo, the competition, What do you expect for this competition?eh: I hope to enjoy, to keep the cup, it’s our the highest point. We are complicated because our brother, Nachi couldn’t play the first two games, so this makes harder the training and also the rhythm of the team, but last year nobody respected us but at the end we rose the most important trophy in the world, but we had to put all our courage to go on.

Dot: noWadays, do you enjoy more than competing each game, like in the first time?eh: I live in a different way, since my maturity of competition, yesterday it was more natural and we didn’t take conscience of what we were playing, and today after 20 years to be in the top level, and knowing that the retirement is getting sooner, just for an evolutionary meaning, I try to have fun, looking back all the memories of what I live, and how nice is this sport, the surroundings, the field life, the “petiseros”, “mateadas”, up to the training with my brothers and my partners, it’s a different way to see all from a different point of view, with out

but I know that I will be in contact with this sport, helping young kids, or in a while helping my son, my nephews, to love and learn this sport like my father, and grandfather taught to me.

Dot: at last, hoW you see your next 20 years EH: I see myself in La Pampa, in Intendente Alvear, with friends enjoy-ing the family, friends, eating BBQ, drinking “mates”, raising horses, and making a quiet life, less trips and with more time for what I like, to travel along the country and my dear family.I traveled a lot all my life, I’m 7 months of the year away from Ar-gentina, and there’s no other place like this, unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy it as I wanted. Like Argentina there’s no other place, so I want to enjoy it! •

so much pressure, that’s the idea of all of it. My father took me for the team because of my ability, I’m more unconscious, now the time has passed and I enjoy in different ways.

Dot: aBout What We are talking, What memories do you have aBout exotic places you played?EH: I have played in so many places in the world, I could tell you that I played in the iced lake in Saint Moritz, or in Brunei, in a artificial stadium where you could see better the ball at night than in a normal day, or in Australia, in a show like the “Rural” here in Buenos Aires, in a field like a soccer field, three against three, at night, with balls that when you hit them, you punch the audience, that’s was so crazy.There are so many and all are very exotic and strange.

Dot: there’s a gossip that polo players, play With several person-alities that pay for that, But sometimes they aren’t at the same level that you are, is that true?EH: We are in contract with the royal family of Brunei and we play against Princes Charles of England, for exhibitions, but we are treat-ed like what we are! Professionals and sports men and they admire the way we play this sport, so we don’t see them like sultans or kings; they play with us in the same level like us, to share the game and to enjoy it, as we do.

Dot: a feW moments ago you told us aBout the retirement, after 20 years of competition, hoW you imagine could Be that moment?EH: Certainly the day I decide to stop playing I will continue in the polo ambient, but I don’t know when that will happen, may be when I don’t feel happy in the field or I realize that I am no more competitive,

Algunos errores comunesSi observamos a las personas en la calle, notaremos que muy pocas caminan correc-tamente. Algunos cargan bolsos y carteras siempre sobre el mismo hombro, sin pensar que este le podría quedar más levantado que el opuesto. También están quienes ca-minan con la cabeza hacia delante y que, de continuar haciéndolo, podrían formar una leve joroba, provocada por el esfuerzo que hace la columna cervical al tratar de hacer contrapeso. Otro caso es el de los depor-tistas autodidactas, aquellos que corren con la cabeza agachada, el cuerpo sumamente tenso y al borde del colapso respiratorio. Y, podemos seguir así… mirando muchos más…Este tipo de actitudes, sumado a otros factores como la genética, la falta de ejer-cicio, el estrés y el exceso de peso, nos llevan gradualmente a adoptar una postura incorrecta. Es entonces cuando nos expo-nemos a dolencias como tortícolis (contrac-ción de los músculos del cuello), lumbalgia

(molestias en la parte baja de la columna) y hasta esa puntada en la espalda que no nos deja movernos. Lo importante es saber cómo prevenir estos dolores y que hacer en caso de que aparezcan.

La mal cuidada columnaNuestro vertiginoso ritmo de vida nos impide pensar si el peso que cargamos es exce-sivo ó si estamos realizando movimientos que afectan a nuestras vértebras. Tampoco

reparamos en la manera de sentarnos, ni en la postura que adoptamos en el hogar o durante el trabajo, donde solemos per-manecer sentados o de pie durante varias horas. Y, como si todo esto fuera poco, mu-chas veces no elegimos calzados que nos brinden comodidad.Pero, ¿por qué nos duele la espalda?. El problema se debe a que, con tantas idas y venidas durante un día cotidiano, es co-mún que realicemos movimientos bruscos

y repentinos con nuestros músculos. Esto puede tensionarlos y dificultar que vuelvan a su lugar, lo que provocaría un dolor de espalda. Este problema es más común de lo que pensamos: ocupa el segundo lugar, después del resfrío, entre las causas de baja laboral. Afortunadamente esto tiene solución...

Manos que curanEstos dolores pueden combatirse a través de numerosas técnicas, como las que enseñan la masoterapeuta Olga Orellana y equipo.
