Where are you from? I am from Virginia in the United States, but my parents are from Vietnam. So I am Vietnamese American. Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia. Its very humid and hot there! It is close to Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and China. My parents came from Vietnam to the USA in the 80’s because of the Vietnam War.

What are the most important monuments in the United States? The most important monuments in the United States, I think, are in the capital, Washington, D.C. It’s hard to say what are the most important monuments because the United States is so big and there is a lot to see!

Los más importantes están en Washington. El país es muy grande.

How’s the lifestyle in the United States? The lifestyle in the United States is very different than Spain. I think we work very hard and we work all the time. We believe that we can be anything we want when we grow-up and we work hard to

achieve our goals. It is also much more expensive in the USA, so you need more money to do more things.

How’s Vietnamese food? I love Vietnamese food! It’s VERY different than Spanish or American food!

We eat a lot of rice, fresh vegetables and meat. All of our ingredients are fresh and for every meal, each person has a bowl of rice and we share a soup dish, vegetable dish and meat dish. A famous sauce from Vietnam is called fish sauce, and it has a very strong smell.

What did you study at university? I studied Hospitality and Tourism Management. It was about hotels, restaurants, event planning and tourism.

Turismo y planificación de eventos.

What did you enjoy the most about our school? I enjoyed working with all the students and celebrating all the holidays at Al-

“The lifestyle in the United States is very different than

Spain”

Yussana! The school is very festive and it was so much celebrating each holiday with the students and doing different activities with them.

Do you like our typical meals? Yes, I love Spanish food! My favorite dishes in Spain are migas, salmorejo, natillas, different tapas and of course, jamón!

¡Me encanta!

Was learning Spanish difficult for you? I studied Spanish in my high school, but that was a long time ago. I came to Spain without knowing a lot of Spanish. It was very difficult to learn in the beginning, because everyone speaks so fast! But, I kept practicing and now I love learning and speaking Spanish. There are still a lot of vocabulary and verbs that I need to learn (:

Sí, sobre todo al principio, porque la gente habla muy rápido.

Do you like new technologies? Yes, I do. I have a blog called, TheQuirkyPineapple.com, and a Youtube channel (Cassandra Le The Quirky Pineapple) where I share about my experiences living in Spain, traveling, food, fashion and about life after graduating from University. On my

Youtube channel, I share videos about my trips! I love using technology to connect and meet other people from around the world. I also use technology to keep in-touch with family and friends who are far away.

Are you looking forward to go back to the United States? Yes, I am. I have been living in Spain for two years. I miss seeing my family and my friends! I’m excited to go back to the United States to visit and see everyone again.

Would you like to stay here? I really love Spain! I’ve come to love the culture, lifestyle and food here. Spain has become my home the past two years. I think in the future, I’d like to stay but right now I’d like to go home, first. Who knows! Maybe, I will be back very soon (:

Me encanta la vida, la cultura y la comida española. Justo ahora quiero volver a mi país, aunque quizás vuelva pronto.

Albert was excited. It was the day before Easter and he couldn’t wait to dye Easter eggs. Albert and his mum bought all the things they needed at the store. Albert chose a box that had 8 colours of dye in it. He could use any colour he wanted. Albert quickly ate his breakfast and loaded the bowls in the dishwasher for his mum. He was going to be extra polite that day. He wanted to make sure he could dye the eggs. Albert went out to ride his bike for a while. He heard his mum call him home. He rode home quickly. His mum was boiling the eggs. Albert couldn’t wait to colour the eggs. His mum told him the eggs must cool before you can dye them. He decided to draw Easter pictures while he waited for the eggs to cool. He drew a chocolate bunny, a basket and some candy. The eggs were finally cool. Albert dropped the dye in each bowl and watched as the dye got darker. This was going to be fun. Albert dropped one egg in each bowl and stirred them with a plastic spoon. Albert got to dye twenty-four eggs all afternoon. He and his friends were having an egg hunt the next day.
