A computer is an electronic device which takes input, process it, give output and store it for later use.

COMPUTER USE IN DAILY LIFE...

Computer can be used in many fields of life. Today the science and technology is so fast that there is a big use and information needed. A user also should have a brief knowledge about computer to use it. A user is anyone who communicates with the computer or utilizes the information it generates. Students, a type of user, have more tools to assist them in the learning process.

SPEED

Computer works at a very high speed. It can perform many calculations in a fraction of a second. Computer can also move an object around a computer screen very quickly. Many computers process billions or trillions of operations in a single second.

LARGE AND RELIABLE STORAGE CAPACITYComputers can store huge volume of data. To put this into perspective, physical files that can fill a whole room can be stored in one computer once they are digitalized. With a computer, we can store videos, games, applications, documents etc. That you can access whatever is required. Storage can be backed up fast and easily.

CONNECTION WITH INTERNET..With the internet, we can communicate with people faster throughout the globe. You can send E-mail, hold voice and video calls or use IM services. The internet also allows for instant sharing of files. You can also connect with your family, friends and relatives by using internet.

CONSISTENCY

You always get the same result of the same process when using a computer. This makes computer ideal for doing tedious and repetitive work. Collaboration is therefore, easier.

DISADVANTAGES OF COMPUTER

Every thing in this world has also disadvantages a well as advantages. So computer has also many disadvantages as well as advantages. Many problems are also created by the excessive use of computer.

HEALTH RISKS

Improper and prolonged use of computer might lead to disorders or injuries of the elbows, wrist, neck, back and eyes. As a computer user you can avoid such injuries or disorders by working in a workplace that is well-designed, using a good sitting position and taking proper work breaks.

VIOLATION OF PRIVACY When using the internet on your computer you are on a risk of leaking your private information. This is especially so when you download malicious software into your computer. Trojans and Malware can infiltrate your system and give identity thieves access to your personal information.

IMPACT ON ENVIRONMENTManufacturing process of computer and computer wastes are harmful to the environment. When computer junk is discarded in open grounds, they release harmful chemicals like lead and mercury to the environment. Mercury can result in cancer. Disposed computer can also cause fire.

DATA SECURITY

This is one of the most controversial aspects of computer today. The safety and integrity of data is key for any business. Hackers could also gain access into your computer and compromise the integrity of data. This is why you should always have a backup. Moreover, you should put measures in place to keep your data safe from hackers.

CAUSES POOR BLOOD CIRCULATIONExcess use of computer can also cause poor blood circulation because of sitting almost all the time. As our body need exercise daily.

CAUSES BODY ACHEBecause of continuous work and excess use, one could also get body ache, specially our spinal cord is affected badly due to this.

CAN CAUSE DEPRESSIONSpending too much time on computer can cause serious mental illness like depression. Regularly using computer for long hours can push a healthy person to depression.

HAS AN ILL EFFECT ON EDUCATIONComputer is also one of the biggest distraction for the youngsters. They end up staying long hours over the computers when they should be studying and as a result there is a negative effect on their academic performance.

Lack of Physical Activity

As computers are becoming more and more easy to access we are becoming unbelievably lazy and physically inactive. We spend most of the time in front of computer and have left the physical activities like games, sports etc.
