Inicios de la Cabaña

Cabaña Jotabe inicia sus rodeos en Estancia Caldenes, en Cañada Seca, Provincia de Buenos Aires. Es una de las más antiguas de la Argentina, consolidándose con su trayectoria de más de 70 años en producción de Hereford, como una de las líderes de genética Polled Hereford.

Desde sus comienzos en el año 1947, venimos trabajando fuertemente en la selección, adquiriendo ejemplares en Palermo de importantes Cabañas ya desde el año 1939, destinando toda la producción de toros de pedigree a los rodeos propios de hacienda general, a efectos de mejorar el nivel de los mismos.

Tradicionalmente el primer Viernes de Septiembre de cada año realizamos el Remate Anual de la Cabaña, presentamos nuestros Toros y Vaquillonas de excelencia, moderados, pigmentados en sus ojos, uniformes, de gran habilidad materna, facilidad de parto y docilidad. El mayor Remate de Hereford y Polled Hereford del país, con un promedio de 700 cabezas a la venta. El remate usualmente reúne a unos 1.000 productores con sus familias.

Líneas Genéticas

Cabaña Jotabe cuenta con una trayectoria de más de 70 años generando Genética JB, cuenta con planteles de razas Hereford y Braford, y actualmente con más de 10.000 madres en producción integrada, PP, PR, VIP y RG, en la cría, recría y el feedlot. Los rindes e índices superadores de Cabaña Jotabe, son evaluados en campos propios en Cuenca del salado, Oeste Bonaerense y La Pampa, por las asociaciones de cada una de las razas.

La cabaña tiene 3 líneas genéticas, fijadoras, mejoradoras: LIDIO, BATÁN y BOND. Campeones de Palermo y formadores de actuales planteles. Sus descendientes han logrado premios que arrojan el resultado de un Biotipo Inglés perfeccionado para lograr Toros y Vacas que produzcan novillos con los mejores rindes, la mejor carne premium y de manera Sustentable.

Se adquirió en 1958 a Royal Puelche Benjamin 2, apodado “El Rubio”, un emblema de la raza Hereford, a Royal Puelche y a Patriota Puelche quien fue Gran Campeón de la Exposición de Palermo (Argentina) y de la Exposición del Prado (Uruguay).

Características destacadas del Biotipo JB:

• Eficiente conversión de alimento en carne de alta calidad. 1º Premio Novillo Pesado y Mejor Área de Ojo de Bife (AOB) de la Exposición Rural de Palermo 2019

• Frame moderado, bien musculoso, de fácil terminación y de buena pigmentación heredable

• Funcionalidad, Eficiencia y Rusticidad.

Del BIOTIPO BRITÁNICO se destaca:

• Buenas Masas Musculares.

• Redondeadas sin exceso de grasa.

Así se forman los actuales planteles del Hereford JB.

History of the ranch

Jotabe started in Estancia Caldenes in the district of Cañada Seca, province of Buenos Aires. It is one of the oldest ranches in Argentina with more than 70 years of history in the production of Herefords making it leader in Polled Hereford genetics.

Since its beginning in the year 1947 focus has been given to cattle selection, buyong cattle in Palermo Show from important ranches since the year 1939 and using the whole production of pure breed bulls in the commercial herd so as to improve its equality.

Historically the Annual Sale of the ranch is done on the first Friday of September each year, where it offers its outstanding bulls and heifers, with moderate size, eyes pigmentation, uniformity, great maternal ability, calving ease and docility. It is the biggest auction of Herefords and Polled Hereford in the country with about 700 heads for sale. This event usually gathers 1000 breeders and their families.

Genetic Bloodlines

Jotabe ranch has a vast history of more than 70 yars producing Genética JB (JB Genetics). Hereford and Braford heards, more than 10.000 integrated production females, PP (pure breed), PR (registered cattle), VIP (superior females), S/ (superior bulls) and RG (commercial cattle) in breeding, rebreeding and feedlot. All performance data and indexes of Jotabe ranch are collected in its own farms located in the North part of the country, Cuenca del Salado (Salado River basin) and West of Buenos Aires Province and evaluated by the corresponding breed association.

The ranch has 3 genetic improving bloodlines: Lidio, Batán and Bond, Palermo Champions and builders of the current herds. Their offspring hace received several prizes showing an improved British Byotipe to obtain bulls and dams that produce steers with the best performance, best premium beef and in a sustainable way.

In 1958 it was bought “Royal Puelche Benjamin 2”, nicknamed “El Rubio” (the bolnd) icon of the Hereford Breed , Royal Puelche and Patriopta Puelche who was Great Champion in Plaermo Show in Argentina and in del Prado Show in Uruguay.

Main JB Biotype characteristics:

• Feed conversion in high quality beef

• Moderate frame, well muscled, easily finished and with good heritability pigmentation

• Functionality, efficiency and rusticity

From the British biotype it is highlighted:

• Good muscle mass

• Rounded shape without fat excess

That is how the current herds of Hereford JB are made up.
