EL PROGRAMAEl 2013 nos ha permitido crecer como una gran alianza y avanzar hacia el logro de nuestro principal objetivo: que las personas que habitan en los lugares más alejados dentro de la región Andina, tengan acceso a energía sostenible mediante energía renovable y eficiencia energética. Hemos continuando “sembrando” nuevas ideas e innovaciones a través del cofinanciamiento de 19 proyectos con la finalidad de mejorar la calidad de vida, mediante el desarrollo de un mercado local justo y equitativo. Asimismo, felicitamos a ADRA, institución socia que cierra uno de nuestros primeros proyectos cofinanciados, beneficiando no solo a más 800 familias rurales con cocinas mejoradas en Ecuador sino que, en un futuro cercano, contribuirá a que más familias latinoamericanas puedan disponer de esta tecnología en sus casas. Esperamos que el 2014, a través del trabajo conjunto con nuestros aliados, consigamos que nuestro avances lleguen cada vez a más beneficiarios de la región Andina.

THE PROGRAMME2013 has seen us grow into a great partnership, and advance towards the achievement of our main objective: that those who live in the farthest reaches of the Andean region might have access to sustainable forms of energy. We have continued to “sow” new ideas and innovations through the joint financing of 19 projects concerned with different aspects of access to renewable energy sources or energy efficiency. All this has had the aim of improving living standards, through the development of a just and equitable local market.

We would like to congratulate one of our institutional partners, ADRA, who have brought to a successful close one of the first projects we have co-financed. Not only have they benefited more than 800 rural families in Ecuador with improved wood stoves, but in the near future their work will contribute to bringing this technology to more families in Latin America.

Let us hope that next year, working together with our partners, we manage to bring such advances to more and more beneficiaries in the Andean region.

De cómo la basura puede ser valorada

Rubbish is everywhere, and very little appreciated and even less so, if it is scattered around in land-fills. In 2005, Ecuador passed a law prohibiting the design and construction of these land-fills where solid waste ends up, and this has encouraged creative intitiatives for the recycling of urban solid waste in the whole country +INFO

No cabe duda que la basura puede ser abundante, pero no necesariamente apreciada. Menos si se esparce en rellenos sanitarios. Desde el año 2005, Ecuador creó una ley de prohibición para el diseño y construcción de estos espacios donde van a parar los desechos sólidos, impulsó la creación de iniciativas para el aprovechamiento de residuos sólidos urbanos en todo el país. +INFO

Análisis de ciclo de vida de proyectos en energía renovable

A través del análisis de ciclo de vida se puede identificar el impacto ambiental (posi-tivo o negativo) que se genera en cada una de las etapas, desde la producción hasta el uso final o aprovechamiento de la biomasa, y de esta manera plantear acciones para mitigar dichos impactos (negativos).

Bajo esa premisa, se llevó a cabo el seminario “Análisis de ciclo de vida (ACV), rela-cionados a la energía de la biomasa”, del 25 al 29 de noviembre en la ciudad de Por-toviejo, Manabí, con la participación del programa Alianza en Energía y Ambiente con la Región Andina (AEA) en convenio con el Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA), con el aporte financiero del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de Finlandia. +INFO

A life-cycle analysis of renewable energy projects

Through life-cycle analysis it is possible to identify the (positive or negative) impacts generated by each one of the stages from production to final use of biomass, and in this way to propose activities that will mitigate the (negative) impacts.

This is the premise under which was launched the seminar: “Life-cycle analysis related to biomass energy”, with the participation of the Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with the Andean Region (EEP) of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA) in Ecuador, 25-29 November 2013, in Portoviejo, Manabí.+INFO

LEDS LAC platform launched at InterCLIMA 2913 to encourage knowledge sharing, learning and greenhouse gas emissions reduction initiatives in Peru, Latin America and worldwide. Forestry, agriculture, energy, transportation and waste were identified as major sources of greenhouse effect gases’ emissions in Peru. Renewable energy and energy efficiencies play an important role in reducing polluting emissions. +INFO

Compartir experiencias exitosas de uso en energías renovables y propiciar alianzas interinstitucionales para fomentar su acceso como contribución al desarrollo sostenible de las zonas rurales del país, fue el objetivo del foro “Agricultura, vivienda, energización: estrategias limpias para mejorar la calidad de vida rural”. Sharing successful experiences in using renewable energies and encouraging cross-organizational partnerships to encourage access as a contribution to sustainable development in Peru’s rural areas was the focus of the forum on “Agriculture, housing, ‘energyfication’, and clean strategies to improve rural quality of living”.
