Background Checks With school starting again, it’s likely that your children are par-ticipating in a variety of after-school activities. Many school sports and club programs are run by volunteers, often parents with kids of their own in the school. It’s important that the school or program takes measures to protect all students, but as parents, it’s critical that you follow up and confirm that the proper checks have been done. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles uses fingerprinting as its core background check. All persons, whether paid or volunteer, who have regular contact with mi-nors or vulnerable adults are fingerprinted. For more informa-tion, visit http://handbook.la-archdiocese.org/chapter-9/section-9-3.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY TO THE SICK & HOMEBOUND Do you hunger for the Sacrament of the Blessed Eucharist? If you, your relative, or neighbor is suffering from the effects of age, illness or infirmity and is physically and gravely indisposed to go to church to receive Communion, please call/text: Marilou Roxas (818) 653-2589 or Genny Braun (818) 343-8884 These Eucharistic visits by members of St. Catherine Legion of Mary and Eucharistic Ministry may take place in the home, at the hospital bed, or in any institution that provides basic care and day-to-day living arrangements to the elderly, the sick and the infirm. The visit involves receiving the Blessed Sacrament, sharing in prayer and the word of God.

This weekend’s Second Collection at all masses will be for Together in Mission. Please take home this copy of the Bulletin for the details of the efforts to reach our goal of $59,000.

To date only 70.5% has been collected. Your generous support is needed to reach our goal by December 1, 2017. Thank you.

THANK YOU to the 343 parishioners who have made pledges to this year’s Together in Mission campaign. To date our parish has pledged $41,624.16 towards our PARISH GOAL of

$59,000. PARISH GOAL: $ 59,000.00 AMOUNT PLEDGED: $ 41,624.16 70.5% AMOUNT PAID: $ 35,843.16 60.8% DIFFERENCE: ($ 23,156.84) -39.2% For those of you who have pledged in the past, but have not had the chance to make a gift, a letter is on its way to your house. I am confident that each of you will prayerfully consider sharing the abundant gifts that God has shared with each of us. ~ Fr. Mau & TIM Committee

BEARING THE RIGHT KIND OF FRUIT Today’s readings focus our attention on vine-yards. Isaiah’s song concerning his friend’s vineyard begins with inspiring and poetic images of an idyllic vineyard where the choicest harvest is expected. In-stead, the vineyard yields wild grapes, which causes the owner to abandon it. The psalmist cries out to God, asking that God once again take care of the vine-yard, which is the house of Israel. The parable told in today’s Gospel offers a stern warning that those who commit treachery in the hopes of attaining personal wealth will be “put . . . to a wretched death” (Matthew 21:41). Jesus warns his listeners not to act like the murderous tenants in the vineyard. Instead he exhorts them to produce the kind of fruit that will lead them to the kingdom of God. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — The vineyard of the LORD is the house of Israel (Isaiah 5:1-7). Psalm — The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel (Psalm 80).
