(322.300 Kg) o el del segundo torneo con un marlín de 702 lbs. (318.400 Kg) que esperamos sea superado por ustedes en esta competencia.

En esta contienda tendremos como novedad los premios en dinero en efectivo, como en los torneos más importantes del mundo, otorgando el 100% de lo recaudado en las inscripciones para los primeros lugares de Marlín, Atún, Pez Vela y Dorado.

We’re waiting for you with the best catches of the entire Mexican Pacific; remember we have the record of marlin since our 1st Tournament with a catch of 710.54 lbs (322.300 Kg) or in the second Tournament we had a 702 Lbs (318.400 Kg) Marlin that we hope you can beat during this competition.

In this contest we’ll have great news, prizes are going to be in cash just the way the biggest and most important Tournaments of the world do, giving the 100% of all the enrollment fees for the firsts places of Marlin, Tuna, Sailfish and Mahi-mahi.

Malin RayadoEl Marlin Rayado se encuentra en Nayarit durante los meses de Julio hasta Noviembre. El récord mundial ha sido de 339 libras y es un pez impresionantemente fuerte, usualmente atrapado por los pescadores. Además cuenta con un sabor exquisito.

El area de océnao que rodea Nayarit y la Bahía de Banderas ha llegado a ser rápidamente conocida por su magnífica pesca.

Dos capturas de récord mundial han sido atrapadas en el área (Marlin Azul y Wahoo) y se esperan aún más. Muchos lujosos barcos de pesca en renta están disponibles para aquellos que buscan pasar el día, o varios días pescando en las aguas azules del área, en busca de diferentes especies de peces en el océano. La calma y la calidez del agua atraen a pescadores de todo el mundo. Los barcos en renta para pesca deportiva se encuentran en Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz, Punta de Mita, Sayulita, San Francisco y Lo de Marcos. Los barcos a rentar pueden ser desde una panga que se renta en la playa hasta un gran yate, y pueden rentarse por hora, medio día o día completo. Algunos de los servicios que ofrecen los yates pueden ser pasar la noche incluyendo todas las comidas y alojamiento.

Los peces más comunes que encontrará en estas aguas son los siguientes:

The Ocean area that surrounds Nayarit and the Banderas Bay has now become famous for its magnificent fishing.

There have been two World Records caught in this area (Blue Marlin and a Wahoo) and we hope to catch more. Many luxurious fishing boats area available for lease for those who are planning a day fishing in our azure waters, searching for the different species. The peace and warmth of the waters attract the fishermen from all over the world. You can rent sport fishing boats in Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz, Punta de Mita, Sayulita, San Francisco and Lo de Marcos. You can rent from a small boat in the beach or a grand yacht; rents can go for an hour, half a day or a complete day. If you rent a yacht you can get a night with all the meals included.

Here are some of the fish you can find in our waters:

Blue MarlinThe Blue Marlin is found from July to April, but the best months to catch it, are from September to February. It can weigh from 150 to 500 lbs; the world record was 1,402 lbs! It was tremendous fish which fought all the way, and it took hours and a complete specialized crew to bring it on board. It is extremely delicious but most fishermen usually set it free.

Striped Marlin

The striped marlin is commonly found in Nayarit from July to November. The world record is held by 339 pound masterpiece; and it was a very strong fish. This fish is usually caught by experienced fishermen. It is very tasty.

Marlin AzulEl Marlin Azul se encuentra en el área en los meses de Julio hasta Abril, pero los mejores meses para atraparlo son de Septiembre a Febrero. Su peso normal oscila entre las 150 a 500 libras, el récord mundial fue de 1402 libras. Tremendo pez de pelea, al cual toma horas que un equipo especializado lo lleve a bordo. Es de rico sabor pero usualmente los pescadores lo liberan.

Atún Aleta AmarillaHay muchas especies de Atún en aguas Mexicanas, pero el favorito es el Atún aleta Amarilla. También conocido como Ahí, este espectacular pez de pelea es el favorito de los pescadores y es servido comúnmente en muchos restaurantes locales. Es uno de los más finos platillos a escoger. El atún aleta amarilla oscila su peso entre muy pocas libras hasta 400 libras. El récord mundial es de 338 libras. Equipo especializado para trabajo duro debe ser utilizado para controlar a este tipo de pez.

Pez VelaEl Pez Vela se encuentra más cerca de la costa que los otros peces y rara vez es atrapado en el interior de Bahía de Banderas. Este es un excelente pez de pelea que no es superado por su tamaño en fuerza y por sus saltos espectaculares y velocidad. Un pez delicioso para saborear y que oscila entre las 50 a 1100 libras normalmente. El récord mundial es de 221 libras.

Marlin NegroEl Marlin Negro se encuentra en el área en los meses de Julio a Febrero. El Marlin Negro es el más grande de la familia de los Marlin, ¡el récord mundial actual es de 1560 libras! Este pez es sumamente apreciado por los amantes de la pesca deportiva pero sus números declinantes han dado como resultado una política de “atrapar y l i b e r a r ” e n t re l os verdaderos deportistas.

SailfishThe sailfish is found closer to the coast than any other kind of fish and rarely caught in the depth of the Banderas Bay. This is an excellent fish that fights and that cannot be compared for its size or strength and first and foremost by the spectacular jumps and incredible speed. A delicious fish to eat that normally weighs from 50 to 100 pounds. The world record is 221 lbs.

Yellow Fin TunaThere are many types of tuna in Mexican waters, but the most popular is the yellow fin tuna. Also known as Ahí, this spectacular fish fights and it’s the fishermen’s favorite. It is served in many of the local restaurants. It makes one of the finest dishes. The yellow fin tuna may weigh very little u to 400 pounds. The world record is 338 lbs. Special heavy duty equipment must be used to control this kind of fish.

Black MarlinThe Black Marlin is found in the area from July to February. The Black Marlin is the biggest of its kind, the world record is held by a fish that weighed 1,560 pounds! This fish is very appreciated by the sport fishing lovers; but since the numbers of this fish seems to be declining, the policy for the true sport fishermen is “catch and release”.

Pargo Mancha NegraOtro de la familia de los Pargos, el Pargo Mancha Negra es normalmente encontrado en profundidades de 200 pies. Un excelente pez para saborear, su peso oscila entre 3 y 6 libras, el récord mundial es de 7 libras.

SierraMagnífico combatiente, este hermoso pez es una presa ligera de la pesca deportiva. Excelente en sabor, comúnmente su peso está entre 1 a 3 libras, pero pueden hallarse de hasta 10 libras. El récord mundial es de 13 libras.

RoosterfishEste furioso pez da a los pescadores una tremenda pelea. Tiene una energía c o l o s a l , s e m u e v e bruscamente, da fuertes c h i l l i d os y g r a n d e s saltos. Regularmente no es un buen pez para comer y por lo común lo liberan. Normalmente su peso oscila entre las 10 y las 30 libras, pero puede haber algunos que pesen hasta 100 libras en estas aguas. El récord mundial es de 114 libras.

PargoEl Pargo Mexicano es también conocido como Red Snapper. Un excelente pez para saborear, su peso oscila de pocas libras hasta las 40. El récord mundial es de 50 libras. La manera más fácil de atrapar a este bello pez es utilizando carnada.

SierraGreat warrior, this beautiful fish is a light weight catch for sport fishing. It is delicious and normally weighs from 1 to 3 lbs, but you can find some that are 10 lbs. The world record is 13 lbs.

Red Snapper Black SpotAnother one from the red snapper family, the red snapper black spot is usually found below 200 feet. A delicious fish, it weighs from 3 to 6 lbs. The world record is 7 lbs.

Red SnapperThe Mexican Red Snapper is also called Pargo. An excellent fish to eat, it usually weighs a couple of pound to 40. The world record is 50 lbs. The easiest way to catch this beauty is by using bait.

Roosterfish This furious fish puts up a good fight. It is energetic, and moves rapidly, it cries loudly and jumps very high. It is not a good fish to eat so I’s usually set free. It can weigh from 10 to 30 pounds, but you can find some that are up to 100 lbs, in these waters. The world record is 114 lbs.

AmberjackEl amberjack también es conocido como Coronado. Este excelente pez, por su sabor, es frecuentemente atrapado, y pesa de 5 a 20 libra, el récord mundial es de 142 libras. Tremendo pez de pelea que se captura más fácilmente con carnada viva. Equipo pesado es indispensable.

GrouperComúnmente su peso está entre las 50 libras, pero se ha llegado a atrapar hasta de 114 libras. Usualmente se atrapa sobre arrecifes y callos, también puede s e r a t r a p a d o c o n carnada. La temporada de captura es de Mayo a Septiembre. Las aguas t ib ias lo ja lan a las profundidades.

WahooEste tremendo pez combatiente vive de acuerdo a su nombre en belleza y fuerza. Relacionado a la familia barracuda, este delgado pez es mejor conocido por su espantosa serie de dientes afilados y agudos. Su peso común está entre las 10 y 50 libras, pero puede llegar a alcanzar hasta 200 libras. El récord mundial es de 158 libras, la Bahía de Banderas tuvo que liberar una captura de 221 libras en el 2004 debido a que la manera en que fue capturado no calificaba para el récord mundial. Excelente pez para saborear.

GrouperIt commonly weighs 50 pounds, but 114 lbs. groupers have been caught! It is usual ly caught among corrals and cays, it is caught with bait. The best time to catch this one is from May to September. The deep warm waters make a nice home.

AmberjackThe amberjack is also known as Coronado. This excellent fish is tasty and usually caught because it only weighs 5 to 20 pounds, the world record is 142 lbs. It is voracious fighter, and caught with live bait. Heavy duty equipment is required.

WahooThis tremendous fish is a good warrior and it lives up to its name, beauty and strength. It is related to the Barracuda family, this thin fish is best known for its scary sharp and pointed rows of teeth. It normally weighs from 10 to 50 lbs., and it can weigh up to 200! The World record is 158 Lbs The Banderas Bay had to free a 221 lbs, in 2004, because the way it was caught did not meet the norms to qualify for the world record. Excellent fish to eat.

CrevallejackEl Crevallejack es una presa común de la pesca deportiva en estas aguas. Su peso normal es de 1 a 10 libras pero frecuentemente se han llegado a capturar de 20 libras. El récord mundial es de 57 libras. No es muy común como platillo pero sí un favorito debido a su pelea y resistencia para capturarlo. Frecuentemente atrapado con equipo ligero. Se puede encontrar casi todo el año.

DoradoEl Dorado, también conocido como Mahi-Mahi, es prolífico en aguas Mexicanas. Es el que se reproduce más rápidamente de todos los peces del océano, el récord mundial es de 87 libras, pero frecuentemente los atrapados en las aguas de Nayarit oscilan entre las 20 y las 40 libras. Uno de los más exquisitos en sabor que se encuentran en el océano, también es uno de los más bellos con marcas brillantes de color azul, verde y amarillo Fuerte y acrobático, este combatiente es altamente buscado y se atrapa regularmente de Septiembre a Abril.

CrevallejackThe Crevallejack is a common catch for sport fishing in these waters. It can weigh from 1 to 10 lbs. but some have even been 20 lbs. The world record is 57 lbs. It is not very common to eat; but it is a favorite to catch because it puts up a good fight and it is a challenge for its resistance. Light duty equipment is required. Found almost all the year.

Mahi-MahiThe Mahi-Mahi, also known as Dorado, is common in the Mexican waters. It reproduces faster than any other fish. The world record is 87 lbs., but normally the ones that are caugh in the waters in Nayarit weigh from 20 to 40 lbs. Reglas de Pesca Deportiva en México Sport Fishing Rules in Mexico

En México se destinan exclusivamente a la pesca deportiva, dentro de una franja de 50 millas náuticas contadas a partir de la línea de base desde la cual se mide el Mar Territorial, un total de 9 especies: 6 denominadas como “Picudos” (4 tipos de Marlin; Pez Vela y Pez Espada) además del Sábalo, Pez Gallo y Pez Dorado.

Queda Prohibido realizar actos de pesca comercial al amparo del permiso de pesca deportiva o simular actos de pesca deportiva con el propósito de lucro. Se prohíbe también el fileteo a bordo y solo podrán destinarse a su consumo doméstico o para su montaje en taxidermia.

Es obligación del pescador deportivo contar con su permiso de pesca deportiva, los que se expedirán a personas físicas nacionales o extranjeras, tanto individuales como por embarcación, de acuerdo a la Ley Federal de Derechos.

El pescador deportivo debe respetar las disposiciones federales en cuanto a tallas mínimas, vedas y solo podrá utilizar caña o línea con anzuelo, con carnada o señuelo.

Los prestadores de servicios están obligados a presentar BITÁCORAS DE PESCA (las mismas pueden obtenerse en el portal de Conapesca)

Los límites de captura son 5 ejemplares diarios por pescador en aguas continentales y 10 en aguas marinas, con la siguiente composición por especie:

a) No más de cinco de una misma especie.

b) Cuando se trate de Marlin, Pez Vela, Pez Espada y Tiburón, el límite máximo por pescador y día será de un solo ejemplar, el cual será equivalente a cinco de otras especies.

c) En el caso de Sábalo, Pez Dorado o Pez Gallo, el límite máximo será de dos ejemplares, los que también serán equivalentes a cinco organismos.

Mexico has selected nine fish species and reserved them exclusively for the activity of sport fishing practiced in the area located within the first 50 nautical miles measured from the sea-shore. Six of these species are commonly known as “Picudos” (Billfish), these include 4 species of Marlin; Sailfish and Swordfish, in addition to Tarpon fish, Roosterfish and Mahi-mahi (also known as Dorado).

Sport fishing permits strictly prohibits any commercial fishing activity or making any monetary gain from their use. On-board filleting is also forbidden and catches must be destined for personal consumption or taxidermy mounts.

It is compulsory for every sport fisherman to have a license to practice the activity. Licenses and boat permits will be issued to Mexican nationals or foreign individuals, according to Mexican Federal Duty Law.

Sport fishermen must abide by Federal dispositions regarding minimum sizes, fishing bans and may only use fishing poles, reels, lines with hooks and with or without bait or lures.

Sport fishing service providers must keep and present when required a fishing log (which is available at the CONAPESCA web site).

Catches are limited to five fish daily per sport fisherman in freshwaters and ten fish in saltwater, with the following quota limits per species:

a) Not more than five fish of any one species.

b) Regarding Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish and Shark, the maximum limit for each sport fisherman will be of one specimen per day; any catch of these species is to be equivalent to five specimens of any other.

c) In case of Tarpon fish, Mahi-mahi (Dorado) or Roosterfish, the maximum limit allowed will be two specimens and will be also equivalent to five of any other species.

7. En esta competencia se permitirán ÚNICAMENTE el USO o TRAER A BORDO de la embarcación

la línea hasta de 130 LBS. De resistencia. Cañas y Carretes a discreción del pescador, se prohíbe el uso de carretes electrónicos. El Comité Organizador cuando considere necesario podrá pedirle a cualquier concursante una muestra del equipo y línea de pesca para su revisión. No hay restricción respecto al número de cañas y carretes que puede usar el equipo o embarcación registrado.

8. IMPORTANTE: Toda embarcación deberá retirar el equipo de pesca no permitido para su uso como:

anzuelos dobles, arpones y en general artes de pesca no permitidos.

9. Sólo se permite como máximo dos (2) anzuelos sencillos por empate siguiendo los lineamientos

de la IGFA (International Game Fish Asociation). Se prohíbe el uso de anzuelos dobles, (ver dibujo)

10. Los peces deberán ser capturados con carnadas o señuelos y serán acercados a la embarcación

sin más ayuda que el carrete y la caña. QUEDA PROHIBIDO EL USO DE MECHUDO. Solo se permitirán 4.50mts. De sedal doble y otro tanto empate (leader). La suma de los dos no excederá 9.00mts. No podrán descansarse las cañas sobre la borda y ninguna persona podrá durante la pelea de un ejemplar tocar la caña, carrete o línea del participante.

11. SON CAUSAS DE DESCALIFICACIÓN:

a. Contravertir en cualquier forma las disposiciones de estas bases.

b. Que personas ajenas al equipo ajusten el carrete, o maniobren cualquier parte del equipo durante la pesca. Se prohíbe agarrar la línea doble. Sólo se permitirá que uno de los tripulantes tome el empate para arrimar al pez al costado de la lancha. No hay restricción alguna sobre el número de personas que ayuden a subir al animal a la lancha. NO SE PERMITIRA EL USO DE GANCHOS PARA PEZ VELA sin embargo para las otras especies sí está permitido.

Reglas Oficiales

1. Este torneo está abierto para todos los EQUIPOS que se registren debidamente y se comprometan

a cumplir todas las reglas del Torneo, a someterse a las disposiciones del Juez, del Comité de Honor y Justicia, y las reglas contempladas por la Ley General de Pesca y Acuacultura Sustentables así como la Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes.

Límites de captura según las reglas de pesca deportiva en México:10 ejemplares diarios por pescador con la siguiente composición:

a) No más de cinco de la misma especie.

b) Cuando se trate de Marlin, Pez Vela, Pez Espada y Tiburón, el límite Máximo por pescador y día será de un solo ejemplar, el cual será equivalente a cinco de otras especies.

Los permisos de navegación y de pesca deportiva y recreativa corren por cuenta de los participantes, así como el trámite ante las autoridades correspondientes.

2. Cada equipo contará con un máximo de cuatro pescadores, aunque esta permitido que se registren

equipos con un menor número de participantes. Cada equipo designará un capitán que representará al equipo.

3. Las especies que califican son: MARLIN, PEZ VELA, ATUN Y DORADO.

4. Con el afán de proteger a las especies, SOLO CALIFICARAN MARLIN DE MÁS DE 100 KGS,

PEZ VELA DE MAS DE 30 KGS., ATÚN DE MÁS DE 30 KGS Y DORADO DE MÁS DE 10 KGS.

5. Sugerimos soltar a los especimenes que a juicio de los participantes estén por debajo de las tallas

mínimas, no existirá penalización si algún concursante trae a pesaje algún ejemplar menor al límite de peso.

6. Serán declarados CAMPEONES por especie, los equipos que capturen el Marlin, Pez Vela, Atún o

Dorado de mayor peso. Solo en caso de empate, se tomara como base la medida de los peces; primero el largo y luego el contorno. (En tal caso las medidas serán las indicadas por las reglas de la IGFA. De persistir el empate ganará, el pez que se haya registrado primero).

En el caso del PEZ VELA Y MARLIN los equipos además podrán participar en la modalidad de CAPTURAR Y LIBERAR (CATCH AND RELEASE) y será declarado Campeón el equipo con mayor número de capturas que acerquen a la embarcación y liberen previo video que indique fecha y hora de la captura y liberación. Los equipos que quieran participar en esta modalidad deberán traer su propia cámara de video con dispositivo que pueda conectarse a una computadora para su copia, la


c. Que en su embarcación permitan pescar a personas no inscritas en el equipo.

d. Presentar cualquier pez que no haya sido capturado por el equipo en forma reglamentaria durante el día de pesca.

e. Cualquier pez herido por la propela (que penetre o rasgue la carne), mordida de tiburón, arpón, proyectil, o arma de fuego, o por cualquier objeto punzo cortante. NO SERÁ MOTIVO DE DESCALIFICACIÓN LA RUPTURA DEL PICO DEL ANIMAL, CUALQUIERA QUE FUERA SU CAUSA.

f. El Comité Organizador deberá abrir los ejemplares que ocupen los tres primeros lugares de cada día. En caso de encontrarse algún objeto extraño del animal introducido a propósito para aumentar su peso, será descalificado junto con todas las capturas del equipo de ese día.

g. Los participantes o embarcaciones que no permitan la inspección del Comité Organizador a la embarcación.

h. Llevar a bordo cualquier objeto de pesca que no sea el registrado. Así como arpones, chinchorros, tarrayas, cimbras y en general artes de pesca que no sean las permitidas.

i. Que algún participante se comporte en forma antideportiva o con falta de probidad durante el desarrollo del torneo.

j. Será causa de descalificación del o los participantes en el torneo, proferir agresiones físicas y/o verbales al Juez del Torneo y a sus ayudantes. En caso de que ocurra esto serán sometidos al comité de Honor y Justicia y se descalificaran a los participantes que incurran en estas faltas.

12. En caso de avería de alguna embarcación o que por su lentitud no pueda llegar a tiempo

para que sus ejemplares sean pesados, éstos pueden ser transferidos a otra embarcación que la presente en su nombre ante el juez. En caso que la embarcación que preste auxilio y transporte no llegue a tiempo el pesaje, no podrá ser usado como excusa y la pesca de ambas no podrá ser registrada.

13. Los concursantes deberán estar presentes en las instalaciones de Marina Vallarta, el día y

hora de la inauguración del torneo que se efectuará a las 7.00 hrs. del centro y deberán esperar la orden de salida del juez. En caso de que cualquier embarcación salga antes del disparo u orden de salida de la dársena, los pescadores participantes inscritos de esa embarcación serán descalificados durante ese día de pesca.

14. Las embarcaciones deberán reportar diariamente la hora de salida a pescar lo mismo a su regreso

de acuerdo al horario permitido en el programa, no se permitirá que ninguna embarcación salga o regrese de otro punto que no sean los lugares oficiales de salida, la falta de cumplimiento de esta regla descalificara a los que incurran en ella.

15. El Comité Organizador tiene facultades para prolongar, acortar o suspender el torneo

por situaciones climatológicas o por cualquier otra causa de fuerza mayor.

16. Fungirá como juez el Sr. Capitán Cipriano Quintero Montes (Pano) y sus fallos serán

inapelables cuando se presente una situación no específicamente reglamentada, el criterio del Juez así como del Comité Organizador de Honor y Justicia serán inapelables.

17. El pesaje de los ejemplares dará inicio a las 13:00 hrs. y terminará con el horario del programa. Es

obligación que el equipo concursante, registre sus capturas. Previa autorización del Comité Organizador debido a causas de fuerza mayor y justificada, los ejemplares podrán ser presentados por otra persona.

18. Los peces de mayor peso de cada día serán objeto de minucioso examen por parte de

biólogos y del Juez del Torneo, por lo que las boletas de pesaje tendrán validez después de dicho examen.

19. Los ejemplares de los primeros lugares de cada día serán propiedad del club de pesca,

cuando algún pescador quiera montar su ejemplar se le proporcionará la piel.

20. Cualquier protesta de un participante debidamente registrado relacionada con esta

competencia, deberá ser presentada por el capitán del equipo por escrito y firmada al Juez teniendo como limite las 19:00 hrs. del mismo día en que se registre el motivo de la misma.

21. Para mayor seguridad de los participantes contaremos con vigilancia marítima por

parte de la Secretaria de Marina, Capitanía de Puerto, la inspección y vigilancia pesquera se hace con personal dependiente de la Comisión Nacional de Pesca y Acuacultura. El Comité Organizador bajo ninguna circunstancia se hace responsable de cualquier percance o accidente que pudiesen tener los concursantes o embarcaciones durante el torneo.

22. Los concursantes, pescadores, embarcaciones, capitanes y tripulaciones que sean descalificados

en el torneo, podrán ser vetados de torneos futuros organizados por el Club de Pesca de Bahía de Banderas, A.C., y pueden ser boletinados a otros Clubes de Pesca y organizadores de otros Torneos.

23. El solo hecho de inscribirse y participar en este torneo de pesca, obliga al participante

a leer, conocer y cumplir con las reglas de este torneo.

24. El Comité Organizador se reserva a su criterio, e l derecho de admis ión de cualquier

persona, embarcación o tripulación que quiera inscribirse y participar en el torneo.

7. In this competition the USE or BRING ABOARD the boat line up of 130 LBS will be allowed

ONLY. Resistance. Rods and reels are discretion of the fisherman, prohibits the use of electronic throttles. Whenever the Organizing Committee deemed necessary can ask a sample of equipment and fishing line for review to any participant. There is no restriction on the number of rods and reels that you can use in the team or vessel registered.

8. IMPORTANT: Each vessel has to remove all the fishing equipment that is not allowed for use,

such as double hooks, harpoons and fishing gear that are generally not allowed.

9. Only a maximum of two (2) simple hooks for a draw along the lines of the IGFA (International

Game Fish Association) are allowed. The use of double hooks is forbidden (see picture).

10. Fish should be caught with bait or lures and will be brought close to the boat without

more help than the reel and rod. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE Moppers. Only 4.50 meters of double line are allowed and the same tie (leader). The sum of the two shall not exceed 9.00mts. The rod can not rest on the side and no person shall, during the fight of one individual, touch the rod, reel or line of the participant.

11. GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION:

a. To contravene in any way the provisions of these rules.

b. People outside the team to fit the reel, or any part of the team manoeuvre while fishing. It is forbidden to grasp the double line. Only allow one crew member to take the tie to bring close the fish

Official Rules

1. This tournament is open to all TEAMS that are properly registered and are committed to following

all rules of the tournament, to comply with the provisions of the Judge, the Honour and Justice Committee, and the rules set by the Ley General de Pesca y Acuacultura Sustentables and Secretary of Communications and Transport.

2. Each party will consist of a maximum of four fishermen, although teams are allowed

to register with a smaller number of participants. Each team will designate a captain to represent the team.

3. Species that qualify are: MARLIN, SAILFISH, TUNA and MAHI-MAHI.

4. In an effort to protect species, only MARLIN OF OVER 100 KGS, SAILFISH OF MORE THAN 30

KGS, TUNA FOR OVER 30 KGS AND MAHI-MAHI FOR OVER 10 KGS qualify.

5. We suggest releasing the specimens that, in the opinion of the participants, are below the

minimum sizes, there is no penalty if a competitor brings a specimen weighing less than the weight limit.

6. CHAMPIONS will be declared by species, teams catching the heaviest Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna or

Mahi-Mahi. In case of a tie, the taken action will be based on the fish’s size first, its length and then its outline.(In this case the action shall be as set by the IGFA rules. If the tie persists, the fish that was registered first will win).

In the case of SAILFISH and MARLIN teams may also participate in the mode of CATCH AND RELEASE and the winning team with the highest


alongside the boat. There are no restrictions on the number of people to help get the animal on the boat. IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO USE GAFF FOR SAILFISH however for other species it is permissible. c. To permit persons not registered on the computer to fish on the boat.

d. Submit any fish not captured by the team in a regulation during the fishing day.

e. Any fish struck by the propeller (which penetrate or tear the flesh), shark bite, spear, missile, or firearm or any object cutting stitches. BREAKAGE OF BEAKS WILL NOT BE CAUSE FOR DISQUALIFICATION, whatever its cause. f. The Organizing Committee will open the specimens that occupy the top three of each day. If a foreign object found in the animal is introduced on purpose to increase their weight, they will be disqualified along with all the team catches on that day.

g. The participants or vessels who not allow inspection of the ship by the Organizing Committee.

h. Carry on board any fishing object other than the registered. Just as harpoons, fishnets, formwork and general fishing gear other than those permitted. i. If a participant behaves unsportsmanlike or dishonestly in the course of the tournament.

j. Utter physical and/or verbal aggression to Tournament Judge and his assistants may result in disqualification of participants in the tournament. If this happens the case will be submitted to the Honour and Justice Committee who will disqualify participants who engage in such misconduct.

12. In case of failure of any vessel or because of slowness can not reach in time due to

their specimens being weighted up; they can be transferred to another vessel that should be presented in representation to the judge. In case the boat to render assistance and transportation arrives late to the weighing, this may not be used as an excuse and fishing for both may not be registered.

13. C o n t e s t a n t s m u s t b e p r e s e n t a t Marina Vallarta, the date and time of the

inauguration of the tournament to be held at 7:00 am central time of Mexico city, and have to wait out the order of the judge. If any vessel part before shooting out or order out of the dock, fishermen and registered participants will be disqualified from that vessel during that fishing day.

14. Vessels must report daily departure time the same on return according to the schedule

allowed in the program, no vessel is allowed leaving or returning to another point than the official places of departure, the lack of compliance of this rule will disqualify those who engage in it.

15. The Organiz ing Committee has the authority to extend, shorten or suspend

the tournament for weather situations or any other cause of force majeure.

16. Acting as judge Captain Cipriano (Pano) Quintero Montes and its rulings are final

when presented with a situation not specifically regulated, the approach of the Judge and the Honour and Justice Organizing Committee are final.

17. The weighing of the specimens will begin at 13:00 hrs, ending with the program schedule. It

is an obligation of the contestant team, to re co rd t h e i r c atc h e s . Wi t h t h e permission of the Organizing Committee due to force majeure and justified, specimens may be submitted by another person.

18. The heaviest f ish of each day wil l be subject to careful scrutiny by biologists and

the Judge of the Tournament, so the tickets will be valid after weighing review.

19. Specimens of the first places of each day will be owned by the fishing club, whenever

a fisherman wants to mount a specimen the skin will be provided.

20. Any protest of a duly registered participant r e l a t e d t o t h i s co m p e t i t i o n m u s t

b e submitted by the team captain in writing and signed to the Judge having as a limit 19:00 pm. the same day that the reason is recorded.

21. For safety of participants there will be maritime surveillance by the Secretary of the Navy,

Port Captain, the inspection and fisheries monitory is by personnel of Comisión Nacional de Pesca y Acuacultura. The Organizing Committee under no circumstances can be held responsible for any mishap or accident that might occur to the contestants or boats during the tournament.

22. Contestants, fishing, boats, captains and crews who are disqualified in the tournament,

may be banned from future tournaments organized by the Club de Pesca de Bahía de Banderas A.C., and can be bulletined to other fishing clubs and organizers of other tournaments.

23. Simple registration and participation in this fishing tournament, binds the participants

to read, understand and comply with the rules of this tournament.

24. The Organizing Committee in its discretion reserves the right to admit any person, vessel

or crew who wants to join and participate in the tournament.
