    To express oneself in such a way that one is readily and clearlyunderstood.

    Communication is shared feeling/shared understanding.

    If you are honestly achieve that goal, you are communicating.

    METHODSOFCOMMUNICATION

    y Information and ideas can be communicated bythree main methods.

    1. WRITTEN: Verbal, such as letters, reports, specifications, and published

    articles.

    2. SPOKEN: Vocal, face to face discussions, presentations and meeting.

    3. VISUAL: Often used in conjunction with one of the above, such as body

    language in face-to-face discussions or meeting, slides used inpresentations.

    y The ability to successfully present may be oneof the most important tools an individual canhave today.

    y In industry, presentation is as important asreports and in some organization major reportonly consist of presentation slides.

    y It is very important for the manager that, itshould become an EFFECTIVEPRESENTER.

    y Because when making a presentation, themanager is on display, being judge,

    consciously and unconsciously, by theperformance put on while standing up infront of audience.

    y There are three stages of presentation.

    1. Preparation.

    2. Delivery.

    3. Follow-up.

    y The follow-up stage only ensure that the aim of

    the presentation are achieved and could not bediscussed further.

    y However, the style and procedure for follow-upwill vary depending upon what is to be achieved.

    PREPERATION

    y The 1st stage in presentation is the preparation.

    y How you prepare the presentation and presents itto the audience?

    y The slides should not be complicated and brief. Itshould be to the point.

    y One idea per slide should be the rule.

    Start from the main idea and end to the briefing.yAim to build the understanding with the audience,

    so that they are thinking the way you wish to them.

    y Several steps need to be followed.

    Define clearly the aim of the presentation.Example: Getting a customer to buy a new project.

    The characteristics of the expected audienceshould be carefully analyzed.Common goal to which the presentation can be targeted.

    The subject matter should be thoroughly studied.

    Slides should be limited, audience questioning maycover wider area.

    Put down in bullet form.

    Too many facts may confuse, concentrate on the key.

    The slides can now be prepared.It has been shown that people only remember 10% of

    what they hear, but they remember 50% of what theysee.

    y The 2nd stage is to deliver the presentation.

    y It is the time when speaker stand up in front of

    audience.

    y Now, they are on their own and they are incommand.

    y Through preparation will give you confidence, butseveral factors still need to be kept in mind.

    Go slowly. Better to risk offending the audience by being too slow than to lose

    them by going too fast.

    Remember that the audience is more important thanthe presentation.Maximum understanding, absorption and retention.

    Develop empathy with audience. Presenting in a way that they understand and relate to, so that

    they can make their own ideas.

    The speaker had an advantage over the audience.Anticipate resistance and deal it with during the presentation,

    weather than waiting for them to come up as a question.

    Remember that the aim of the presentation is to sellan idea to the audience.

    The whole posture of the presenter is important. Stand and do not sit during the presentation and avoid wandering

    about as it can be distracting.

    Dont look at the screen it will be consider as aprompt. Focus on the audience. Eye contact is important if their attention

    is to be held.

    The last point of the presentation is usually the onebest remembered by the audience.
