CATHOLICS COMING HOMECATHOLICS COMING HOMECATHOLICS COMING HOMECATHOLICS COMING HOME Christmas is a time for coming home to be with people we love and have missed due to distance or family hurts. The story of the Prodigal Son always comes to mind. When someone who has been away for a long time comes back to the family there is great rejoicing. The same is true with the Church family. So when you come to church on Christmas and someone is sitting in your pew, do not be upset; instead, let us re-joice that others are coming to church. Let us not be irri-tated if we may have to get cozy to accommodate more people in the pews. Christmas is love, let us show that love to our fellow Catholics whether they are regular mass attendees or just come on the Holy Days. The most impor-tant fact is that they are here. Their presence tells us that there is still a Catholic spark in their heart and we want to make that spark glow so that their hearts are once again on fire for the catholic faith. An evangelization program for Catholics Returning Home begins this month. If you know of any Catholics who have been away from our faith, invite them back to the church. After the Solemnity of Christmas we would start sessions to reacquaint them with our Church, our faith, our God. Five informational sessions about Church teaching, tradi-tions and the sacraments will be discussed. To register, please call the Parish Office at 770-479-8923.

Catequesis Comunitaria

Community Catechesis

God’s kingdom is close —it is Jesus

3rd Sunday of Advent Week of December 12, 2010

Listen to the Word (Isaiah 35:1-6, 10)

What image in Isaiah lingers in your memory? What in this reading touches your heart?

Look into Your Life

Question for Children: Why is Christmas such a time of happiness for people? Question for Youth: God speaks to you every day: Isaiah tells us our ears and eyes will be opened in Christ to hear God's voice. What do you hear God saying to you? Question for Adults: What is there in this promise from the Prophet Isaiah that gives you hope? How have you seen this promise fulfilled in Christ?

Activities for the home during the week Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings: ∗ Discuss with your family what it means to live as a follower of

Jesus in the world today. Using the newspaper or the TV news, discuss for each major story how a Christian would respond. What would Jesus do in each situation?

∗ Prepare for Christmas by talking together about family mem-bers who have been influential in your lives. Go through the family album and point out pictures of people who are good role models of Christian living. Tell their stories to your family. Dis-cuss which of them has brought the light of Christ into your lives this year.

To the Christmas Tree of LoveTo the Christmas Tree of LoveTo the Christmas Tree of LoveTo the Christmas Tree of Love This weekend begins our annual Christmas Giving Tree gift collection. For many years, during the season of Advent, the parishioners of Our Lady of LaSalette have been sharing God’s love by reaching out to our neighbors in need. Each ornament on the Giving Tree expresses a need to a child in our community. Please help us “undecorated” the Giving Tree by: ∗ Taking one or more ornament tags ∗ Buying the gifts listed on the tags ∗ Wrapping the gifts ∗ Placing the wrapped gifts, with the ornament tag securely

attached, beside the Giving Tree no later than December 19th.

Your gifts will be distributed to grateful recipients in our area.

Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated.
