The Kelveys were two little girls, Lil and Elsa, who was living in a small town with only a school. Her mother had to wash people's clothes and it is said that her father was in prision. They were a poor family and nobody used to talk with them. The girls in the school were unkind and they didn't play with the Kelveys. So they weren't invited to see "the doll's house" which had been given to the three Burnell children. Finally she could see it because the younger Burnell showed them it.
