    OBJETIVO GENERAL

    Incorporar gradualmente el idioma ingls como segunda lengua

    mediante el desarrollo las cuatro macro-habilidades (comprensin

    lectora y auditiva y produccin oral y escrita) en simultaneidad con el

    abordaje de aspectos de formacin en lo concerniente a normas de

    convivencia, tolerancia a las capacidades, elecciones, opiniones y

    culturas diferentes, de respeto y cuidado propio, de sus pares, docentes,

    institucin y medio ambiente.

    OBJETIVOS ESPECIFICOS

    Desarrollar y aplicar en forma prctica (escrita y oral) loscontenidos curriculares propuestos en cada unidad para que el

    alumno sea capaz de preguntar, contestar, describir y abordar los

    temas que versan en cada unidad.

    Generar trabajos escritos y orales -individuales y grupales- quereflejen el progreso de aprendizaje.

    Promover la concientizacin de aspectos conductuales que lepermitan armonizar con sus docentes y pares.

    Fomentar la apertura y tolerancia mediante el conocimientoprofundo de la existencia de diferencias entre personas de la

    Grammar: Present simple; present continuous. Simple past and past

    continuous.

    Modals verbs: must, have to, should; would, could may, might.

    Vocabulary: occupations; tools; electrical parts, units of

    measurements and numbers. The workplace.

    Function: description of specific activities and occupations. Tools and

    measurements. Electrical devices and tools. Description of past actions.

    Reports on past and present occupations. Changes.

    The workplace: areas and rules.

    The Simple Present

    James is a taxi driver. He drives a taxi. But on

    Sundays he doesn't drive his taxi. He stays at

    home.

    The verb be, drive, stay are in the simple present.

    The simple Present tense is used:

    1. Facts, generalizations and universal truths2. To give opinions and to talk about preferences3. Habits and routines, repeated actions; frequent actions4. Permanent situations5.     Use 1: Facts, Generalizations and Univeral Truths

    We use the Present Simple to talk about universal truths (for

    example, laws of nature) or things we believe are, or are not, true.

    It's also used to generalize about something or somebody.

    Use 3: Habits, routines, repeated actions

    We also use this tense to describe actions that happen frequently. For

    example: habits, routines, tendencies.

    Use 4: Pernament Situations

    Use the Present Simple to talk about situations in life that last a

    relatively long time.

    I live in Boston He works as a fireman. Margaret drives a Volkswagen. Jerry doesn't teach maths at highschool.

    Use 5: Events Certain to Happen

    Use the Present Simple when an event is certain to happen in the

    future.

    My grandmother turns 100 this July. Winter starts on December 21.

    Use 6: State Verbs

    Simple present is used with sate verbs. Some of them include:

    Mental activities and processes: think, believe, reflect,

    understand, know, suppose, imagine, remember

    Possesion: own, have, belong

    Feelings: love, want, wish, need, mind, like , matter, heat, concern

    Abstract: seem, appear, sound, agree,

    Verbs related to senses: see, smell, taste, hear I like swimming. We know this man.

    I beleive in ghosts.

    Use 6: Future Arrangements

    Use the Present Simple to talk about events that we can't change (for

    example, an official meeting or a train departure).

    The meeting starts at 4 PM. The train leaves at the noon.When does the plane take off? Jerry doesn't teach maths at high school.

    Use 7: Narrations, Instructions or commentaries

    The Present Simple is also used in narrations (e.g. to tell a story or a

    joke), instructions (e.g. cooking) or commentaries (especially sport

    commentaries).

    "A man goes to visit a friend and is amazed to find him playing chesswith his dog. He watches the game in astonishment for a while [...]"

    STRUCTURE :AFFIRMATIVE

    Remember the verbs in the third person singular (he,she and it) always

    take an "s". For example, "heplays, she sings,it works..."

    SPELLING OF THIRD PERSON:

    All the verbs take an "s" in the simple present when conjugated in the

    ADVERBS OF TIME FREQUENCY ADVERBS

    Adverbs of time tell us when an action happened, but alsofor how

    long, and how often.

    "How often" adverbs expressing thefrequency of an action are

    usually placed before the main verb but after auxiliary verbs (such as

    be, have, may, must):

    Some other "how often"adverbs express the exact number of

    times an action happens and are usually placed at the end of thesentence:

    When afrequency adverb is placed at the end of a sentence it is

    much stronger. Compare:

    She regularly visits France. She visits France regularly.

    Adverbs that can be used in these two positions:frequently,

    ORDER OF ADVERBS OF TIME

    If you need to use more than one adverb of time at the end of a

    sentence, use them in this order:

    1: 'how long'2: 'how often'3: 'when'(think of 'low')

    1 + 2 : I work (1)for five hours (2) every day 2 + 3 : The magazine was published (2) weekly (3) last year. 1 + 3 : I was abroad (1)for two months (3) last year. 1 + 2 + 3 : She worked in a hospital (1)for two days (2) every

    OTHER TIME EXPRESSIONS USED IN SIMPLE PRESENT

    Once, twice, three times, four times. a week / a year.

    Jonathan travels abroad once a year. Sam and Mary visit their relatives in Monaco twice a month.

    We use the adverbial a lotto mean often or frequently. It comes at

    the end of the clause:

    We go to the cinema a lot.

    but before another time adverbial:

    We go to the cinema a lot at the weekend.

    We use muchwith a negative to mean not often:

    We dont go out much. (= We dont go out often)

    We use how often or everto ask questions about frequency.How

    often comes at thebeginning of the clause:

    How often do you go to the cinema?

    How often have you been here?

    evercomesbefore the main verb:

    Do you ever go to the cinema at the weekend?

    Longer frequency phrases, like every yearor three times a day

    usually come at the end of the clause:

    I have an English lesson twice a week.She goes to see her mother

    every day.

    PRESENT CONTINUOUS / PRESENT PROGRESSIVE

    The Present Continuous is mainly used to express the idea that

    something is happening at the moment of speaking. The Present

    Continuous also describes activities generallyin progress (not at the

    moment). Another use of the tense is to talk about temporary

    actions or future plans.

    Use 1: Present Actions

    Most often, we use the Present Continuous tense to talk about actions

    happening at the moment of speaking.

    NOTICE: Stative (State) VerbsThere is a certain group of verbs that usually does not appear in the

    Continuous form. They are called Stative (State) Verbs, and if used

    in the Continuous form, they have a different meaning.

    Examples:

    I think you look pretty today. meaning: Opinion I'm thinking of moving to San Francisco. meaning: Act of

    thinking

    Use 2: Temporary Actions

    This tense is also used for activities continuing only for a limited period

    of time.

    I'm riding a bike to get to work because my car is broken.Temporary Action (His car will soon be repaired)

    They are not talking with each other after the last argument.Temporary Action (They will soon make up)

    Mary is working at McDonald's. Temporary Action (She isworking there only during the summer holidays)

    Use 3: Longer Actions in Progress

    We also use the Present Continuous when we are in the middle of

    doing something time-consuming (i.e. something that takes time to

    complete). An example of such an activity is writing a book, saving

    money or studying for an exam.

    They are working hard to earn money. I am training to become a professional footballer. Mike is studying hard to become a doctor. Eliana is currently writing a children's book titledI am the

    Use 4: Future (Personal) Arrangements and Plans

    Sometimes we use the Present Continuous to show that something

    is planned and will be done in the near future.

    I'm meeting Katie in the evening. He's flying to Rome in September.We're not going anywhere tomorrow.

    Use 5: Tendencies and Trends

    This tense is also used for expressing tendencies or trends.

    Our country is getting richer. The Internet is becoming less of a novelty. The Universe is expanding.

    Use 6: Irritation or Anger

    And the last use of this tense is to express irritation or anger over

    somebody or something in the present with adverbs such as: always,

    continually or contantly.

    Nepal is a fascinating country, but I have a great deal to learn.
