EXPOSITIONThe village by the sea is set in a small village called Thul which

is 14 km from Bombay. Lila is the eldest child among the four

siblings. She is 13-years old. Her 12-years old brother, Hari is

the only person who earning a little money by doing odd works

and selling vegetables which he growed his garden. Lila has to

manage everything in the house since her mother was ill and

her father started to get drunk on toddy. Bela and kamal, her

two youngest school sisters.

RISING ACTION

Hari finds a recently raised hut near the village. The man living inthe hut tells Hari that soon there will come up a fertilizer factory. He

says the paddy fields and coconut groves of 14 villages from Rewas

to Alibagh will be acquired by the government to build roads, railway

tracks and housing colonies. The news spreads in the village like

wildfire and the villagers become apprehensive about their future.

Some are optimistic of getting jobs in the factory and some fear the

consequential pollution, loss of livelihood and impact of

industrialization on their ways of life. Adarkar, the organiser from

Alibagh also comes to the village and speaks of the havoc the

fertilizer factory will wreak on their lives.

CLIMAXAdarkar and the village people discuss and decide to

meet Prime Minister to stop the factories from build to

save their lands. Hari also decides to leave for Bombay.

Then, Hari was new in the great city of Bombay and all

alone. A kind watchman at The Seabird apartment

where the MrDe Silvas live, brings him to a generous

restaurant proprietor, Jagu who gives him a work in his

Sri Krishna Eating Restaurant.

FALLING ACTIONLila, Bela and Kamal admit their ill mother in town hospital through

the help of the Mr De Silvas. Their father turns over a new leaf, and

accompanies their mother throughout her 7-month treatment. WhenHari returns to the village soon-after, he finds the environment of his

home totally changed. As Hari reunites with his sisters, they all begin

sharing stories with each other detailing the changes that took place

after Hari left. Hari also explains the watch repair skills that he

learned from Mr Panwallah in Bombay and reveals his plans to start

a small repair shop in the village.

RESOLUTIONLila, Hari, Bela, and Kamal all form a plan to use

Hari's saved money which he earn and brought back

from Bombay to start a small chicken farm as a start

up business for the family and financial support base

for Hari's future repair shop. Finally, his mother getwell from sick and their father became a responsible

person.
