INTRO,U$TION

Internship or on the 1ob trainin) is one 'ay by 'hich 'e students are )iven an opportunity

to apply the theories and computations that 'e have learned from school# It also helps us to

obtain applicable +no'led)e and s+ills by performin) in actual 'or+ settin)# &olle)es and

universities require their students to under)o such trainin) 'ithin a specific number of hours as

part of the curriculum#

For us students an 34* or internship pro)ram provides opportunities to )o throu)h the

actual methodolo)ies of a specific 1ob usin) the real tools equipment and documents# In effect

the 'or+ place becomes a development venue for us student trainee to learn more about our

chosen field and practice 'hat 'e have learn from academy#

3n the other hand a valuable 34* pro)ram also profits the companies 'ho accept trainees# First

34* or intern provides e5tra manpo'er for a less si)nificant labor cost than a re)ular employee#

Most of them are all ea)er to learn the ropes so chances are hi)h that they6ll be )iven a chance to

'or+ on the same company as an employee after )raduatin)#

-mployers can use this internship strate)y as method in recruitin) employees# Since the traineror supervisor can follo' the trainees6 pro)ress he can )au)e based on performance behavior and

attitude if the trainee 'ill ma+e )ood recruit after the completion of his internship#

the trainin) in their 0ouse+eepin) ,epartment# I had my first ! hours there# I met their room

attendants their different staffs also the -5ecutive 0ouse+eeper Mr# 4ohn ,elos Santos and



their 0ouse+eepin) coordinators# At first I 'as very shy and I am ad1ustin) to my ne'

environment# -specially livin) in Manila a'ay from the province# *he employees in the hotel

'ere very +ind# In my first day the house+eepin) *eam ;eader Mr# %e1ay *rinidad orientedme about the basics in the hotel# *he different name of the places in the hotel the different

locations of the )uest6s areas and entertainment areas# In the house+eepin) department I6ve

learned to use an actual vacuum for the room carpet# In my first days in the hotel I 'asassi)ned at the lobby area and the )uest6s comfort rooms# At first it 'as very difficult for me

because my feet hurts# I need to stand up all day# 7e are not allo'ed to loiter around the hotel#

After days I 'as already assi)ned in the rooms area# I 'as tau)ht ho' to clean the roomsespecially the bathrooms# *he room attendants tau)ht me the set<up of amenities in the

bathroom# *he room attendants 'ere very +ind# Sometimes they )ive me 'ater if I6m very tired#

*he house+eepin) department 'as really 'orth it because the -5ecutive 0ouse+eeper al'ays

ma+e sure that 'e are al'ays o+ay and smilin)#After 0( department I 'as assi)ned at the FB% department# *he 0R endorsed me to one

of the food attendants there# In my first day they oriented me about the FB% department their

rates and promos the brea+fast buffet and the bar and a la carte# *he hotel restaurant 'as is
