Affirmative Actions of MIRA

Political Movement1. Preponderant nomination of candidates on a closed list system, in

which women are placed in the first lines of the election lists, which

has made possible for our women members to be elected in many

instances.

2. Implementation of a programmatic agenda that led the adoption of

laws which promote protection of women against violence and

discrimination.

3. Promotion of women's intervention in high-level decision-making

positions within our political movement, which has promoted gender

equity.

b. Legislative Agenda to Promote Protection of

Women Against any Violent or Discriminatory

TreatmentMIRA is the author of more than 13 laws that contribute to the respect of women's

rights: Some examples:

'Anti-discrimination law (law 1482 - 2011);

'Laws that increase penalties for acid attacks and other chemicals against women (Law

1639 - 2013 and 1773 - 2016);

'Law punishing all forms of violence against women (Law 1257 - 2008);

'The creation of the Legal Commission for Gender Equality in the Congress of theColombian Republic (Law 1434 - 2011);

'Law that promotes fixing the minimum gender quota among candidate lists to run for

Public Office(Law 1475 - 2011);

'Law of Pay Equity between men and women (Law 1607 - 2012),

c. Promotion of women's presence in high-leveldecision-making positions

decision-making positions

within the Movement, to thepoint that up to date 70% of the National Directorate of our

Movement is integrated by women.

a. The adoption of a law that will demand 50% genderquota in each electoral list, in addition these listshave to be closed and have to alternate rowsbetween women and man by assigning one to awoman and the next to a man, and so on.

a. Consolidate peace, increasing the participation of

women in politics which empower them andgenerates civic coexistence and equity with men, asa condition for sustainable development.
