“We saw His star at its rising and have come to do Him homage (Matthew 2: 2)."

Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord or the Visitation of the Wise Men from the East to see Jesus. The epiphany is “a man- ifestation of God through Jesus to the whole world (Catholic Encyclopedia).” An event where Jesus is recognized as the savior of the world and should be worshiped as God. And we have individuals who have traveled a great distance to find “the newborn king of the Jews (Mt 2:1),” Jesus. This was a difficult journey for them because they did not live around the corner from the land of Israel, they traveled a great distance to see the “newborn child.” The Wise Men journey was a spiritual journey and they were not sure what they would find in the land of Israel. Finally arriving in Bethlehem, they found a child with his mother in a simple manger. They may have wondered: how can a king be born in a simple/humble place? We are also on a spiritual journey looking for the child Jesus, our savior and king. But, there is one difference between us and the Wise Men's journey; we know who Jesus is. The Wise Men were seeking Him for the first time and were able to grew into their faith. We have a full understanding of who Je-sus is and are able to grow in our faith and relation-ship with him because of our baptism. Our life of faith is a spiritual journey and every Epiphany we are called to grow and increase our faith in Jesus. We are different today then we were last year and our personal relationship with Jesus is affected because of our life experiences. The star may shine brightly in front of us, but we fail to recognize and see the newborn king. We may be seeking others stars that we think will save us which leads us away from the true star, Christ. The true star is Here “and we have come to do Him homage.” The Wise Men found what they were searching for and rejoiced. Have we? Christmas blessings, Fr. Frank Hernandez

“Vimos su estrella y hemos venido a adorar lo (Mateo 2:2) Hoy celebramos la Epifanía del Señor o visita de los Reyes Magos del Oriente al Niño Jesus. La Epifanía es “la manifestación de Dios al mundo a través de Jesús” (Enciclopedia católi ca). Y tenemos individuos que han viajado grandes dis-tancias para conocer “al recién nacido rey de los ju-díos (Mt. 2:1), Jesús” Este fue un viaje difícil para ellos porque no vivían a la vuelta de la esquina de la tierra de Israel, viajaron a grandes distancias para ver al recién nacido. El viaje de los Reyes Magos era un viaje espiritual ya que no estaban seguros de lo que encontrarían en la tierra de Israel. Finalmente llega-ron a Belén, encontraron un niño con su mama en un simple pesebre. Ellos se preguntaban: ¿Cómo un Rey pudo haber nacido en un lugar tan simple y humilde? Nosotros también estamos en un viaje espiritual bus-cando al Niño Jesús, nuestro rey y salvador. Pero, hay una diferencia entre nosotros y el viaje de los Reyes Magos; nosotros ya sabemos donde esta Jesús. Los Reyes Magos estaban buscándolo por primera vez y fueron capaces de crecer en su fe. Nosotros tenemos una comprensión completa de quien es Je-sús y somos capaces de crecer en nuestra fe y rela-ción con El debido a nuestro bautismo. Nuestra vida de fe es un viaje espiritual y en cada Epifanía somos llamados a crecer e incrementar nuestra fe en Jesús. Somos diferentes hoy a como éramos el año pasado y nuestra relación personal con Jesús se ve afectada por nuestras experiencias de vida. La estrella tal vez brille en frente de nosotros, pero fallamos en ver y reconocer al rey recién nacido. Tal vez estamos bus-cando otras estrellas que pensamos nos van a salvar, pero que solo nos apartan de la verdadera estrella, Cristo. La verdadera estrella está Aquí “y hemos venido a hacerle un homenaje”. Los Reyes Magos encontra-ron lo que estaban buscando y se regocijaron. ¿Nosotros también? Bendiciones Navideñas Fr. A PARTIR DE ESTE AÑO NO TENDREMOS SEGUNDO COLECCIONES

La diócesis pide que cada parroquia tiene aprox. 28 se-gundo colecciones durante el año. No tendremos segun-do colecciones, en lugar estaremos enviando un por-centaje de la colección de domingo a la diócesis, cuando se nos pide una segunda colección. Esperamos que este año las colectas irá en aumento. Tenemos muchas nece-sidades en la parroquia y nuestra esperanza es que to-dos da $5.00 o más, así que este año nos puede elevar la recaudación de $15.000 por semana para cubrir el costo de nuestras necesidades.

STARTING THIS YEAR WE WILL HAVE NO SECOND COLLECTIONS

The Diocese requests that each parish have approx.. 28 second collections during the year. We will not have second collections, instead we will be sending a percent-age of the Sunday Collection to the Diocese when we are asked for a second collection. We hope that this year the Sunday Collections will increase. We have many needs in the parish and our hope is that everyone gives $5.00 or more so this year we can raise the collec-tion to $15,000 per week to cover the cost of our needs. Thank you for your generosity.

HOLY HOUR / HORA SANTA

We have Holy Hour every Thursday at 6pm in the Hope Chapel. Come and spend time in prayer and adoration with our Lord.
