AUSTRALIAN OPTOMETRICAL ASSOCIATION N.S.W. DIVISION The response of N.S.W. members to the division's P.R. Brochure Scheme has been excellent. A large number of orders have been received for these brochures along with the display rack and already a couple of repeat orders have been received. The P. R. Sub-committee has recommended to Council the printing of a further five brochures to add to the range of topics already covered. Pursuing the Council's policy of reaching the members, two more suburban regional meetings were conducted at Coogee and at Bankstown. These meetings held on 1st and 16th February respectively, were both well attended, clearly indicating the interest of the members. At each meeting, the president, Mr. H. J. Alexander spoke on his experiences in the U.S.A. and of the tremendous enthusiasm for Optometry shown by the American optometrists. The strength of the American Optometric Association and the wide range of services provided provide a lead to the Australian Association in promoting Optometry. The meetings also saw one of the series of illustrated lectures now available for members use through the N.S.W. State office. Plans are already advanced for a Northern Regional Conference, this year to be a joint conference of the North Coast and the North-West Regions. To be held in Grafton, the conference will extend from Saturday 20th to Monday 22nd May. It will include two full days devoted to education. The sections will be clinical and technical along with practice improvement material. New instruments, new techniques and case histories will be discussed. A lecture on contact lenses, an integral part of optometrical practice. and another on tonometry as a routine with demonstration of a new tonometer will be features of the programme.
