Dr. Zarbin graduated from Dartmouth College (PhiBetaKappa, summa cum laude, with highest distinction, 1978). He graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (Medical Scientist Training Program, a?a, 1984). Dr. Zarbin completed resident and fellowship training (vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute (1985-1990) and was an Assistant Chief of Service at Wilmer (1989). Dr. Zarbin is Chair of the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) and Chief of Ophthalmology at University Hospital in Newark, N.J. (1994-). He is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Neuroscience at NJMS and holds the Alfonse A. Cinotti, MD/Lions Eye Research Chair. Dr. Zarbin is co-Director of the Ocular Cell Transplantation Laboratory at NJMS. Dr. Zarbin has co-authored 170 peer-reviewed publications, 63 book chapters, 165 abstracts, and one book on age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Dilsher Dhoot
Dr. Dhoot was raised in California and received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to complete his medical degree at Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Dhoot remained in Portland for his residency training in ophthalmology at the Casey Eye Institute. After completing his residency, Dr. Dhoot pursued fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Dhoot has been active in clinical research and has been an investigator in clinical research trials for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr Dhoot is a Board Certified ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Retina Society.
Dr. Michael Engelbert
Dr. Engelbert is a member of The American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), The European Society of Vitreoretinal Specialists (EVRS), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He has published numerous papers on retinal disease, received several awards and has been granted permanent resident status in the United States in the category “outstanding scientist”. Since 2011, Dr. Nathan C. Steinle has been a partner at California Retina Consultants in Santa Barbara, California, U.S.A. His group is a nine-physician retina only practice in southern California. Dr. Steinle received his undergraduate and medical training in the United States, where he was named the class valedictorian and graduated with summa cum laude honors. After completing his ophthalmology residency in Kentucky, Dr. Steinle had the fortune of performing his surgical vitreoretinal fellowship at the renowned Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Steinle has earned multiple awards for excellence. He was given the honor of
being named Chief Resident in addition to earning the prestigious Wirtschafter award recognizing the finest resident teacher. Dr. S. Chien Wong, an exceptional ophthalmologist and vitreo-retinal surgeon in London, UK, is among a handful of doctors in the world with a super-specialty practice in pediatric vitreo-retinal surgery and retinovascular diseases. He manages complex pediatric retina at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and Moorfields Eye Hospital, both world leading hospitals for children and eye care. He is one of only two surgeons in the world with expertise in pioneering endoscopic vitreo-retinal surgery in retinopathy of prematurity
Dr. Dante Pieramici
Dr. Dante J. Pieramici graduated with honors from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed Ophthalmology Residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He receive vitreoretinal fellowship training at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta Georgia. Dr. Pieramici has held full-time academic positions at the Yale University Eye Center and the Wilmer Eye Institute, where he served as the Assistant Chief of Service and Director of Ocular Trauma. Currently he is the Codirector of the California Retina Research Foundation, a partner of the California Retina Consultants, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Doheny Eye Center in Southern California. Dr. Pieramici has published over 100 articles, 16 book chapters, and has edited 3 books on retinal diseases. He lectures nationally and internationally on retinal diseases and ocular trauma. Dr. Pieramici’s research interests have been varied, and include clinical and basic science projects aimed at better understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of ocular diseases, so as to improve treatments for patients with age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, and severe ocular injuries. He has been a clinical investigator, principal investigator, or reading center investigator in numerous NIH and pharmaceutical company sponsored clinical trials. Dr Pieramici has helped in the development of new surgical techniques including limited macular translocation and 25-gauge (small incision) vitrectomy surgery. Currently he is involved in the development of new drug delivery techniques for various retinal vascular diseases. Dr. Pieramici has received the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Honor Award from the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Retina Society, the Macula Society, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ocular Trauma where he serves as Vice President, and the Pan-American Ophthalmologic Society amongst others. Dr Pieramici is a member of S.E.E International and regularly trains international ophthalmologists from undeserved areas.

La Dra. Dorta realizó estudios de post título en Cirugía Vítreo-Retinal en el Hospital del Salvador y de enfermedades inflamatorias y tumores oculares el prestigioso Moorfields Eye Hospital de Londres.
La Dra. Dorta es Magister en Administración en Salud de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (MHA), de donde también se tituló con distinción máxima.
En su vasta trayectoria laboral destacan su posición como Oftalmóloga del Hospital del Salvador, en la Unidad de Trauma Ocular del mismo Hospital y su rol como asesora del Ministerio de Salud y Jefe del programa nacional de Retinopatía del Prematuro con sede en el Hospital Roberto del Rio, cargo que desempeño hasta el año 2012.
Actualmente la Dra. Dorta es la Directora Médica de KYDOFT ejerciendo este rol en todas sus sedes clínicas.

Earned her MD degree from The University of Ottawa and received her ophthalmology residency training at the University of Ottawa and specialized fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology at The Hospital for Sick Children, and in Medical Retina at the University of Calgary. In addition to her busy practice and surgical schedule, Dr. Ells is an active and accomplished researcher, lecturer, and teacher. Her contributions to the ophthalmic literature have been extensive, authoring numerous peer-reviewed papers, textbook chapters, original articles, and scientific presentations. She is currently the principal investigator of several ongoing clinical trials and other research projects. She lectures worldwide, most frequently as a highly acknowledged expert in Retinopathy of Prematurity. Dr. Ells was recognized for her work by an Achievement Award, presented by the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2010. Dr. Ells is a valued educator among residents, fellows and research students, but also to physicians, surgeons and health care providers from around the world. She has been an invited instructor at Oxford University and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a visiting international professor in Guadalajara, Mexico, and provided instruction and symposiums in Shanghai and Beijing, China, Santiago, Chile and Bangalore India. Dr. Jim Stringham
Earned his doctoral degree in experimental psychology from the University of New Hampshire in 2003. During postdoctoral appointments at the Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School and the Medical College of Georgia, he conducted research on ocular lutein, age‐related macular degeneration, the effects of intense light on visual performance, and plasticity of the visual system. Dr. Stringham then took a position as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Georgia, where he continued and extended a research program involving lutein and many facets of visual performance. In 2007, he became a senior vision scientist in the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), where he was involved in extensive testing of the effects of lutein and zeaxanthin on human visual performance. Currently he is a research scientist at the University of Georgia, where his research includes studying the effects of lutein, zeaxanthin, and mesozeaxanthin on a variety of human physiological, health, and performance parameters.
Dr. Andrés Kychenthal
Médico Cirujano de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, de donde se graduó con distinción máxima, para luego realizar estudios de post título en Gestión Informática en la escuela de Ingeniería de la misma Universidad. Realiza sus estudios de especialista en Oftalmología en el Hospital del Salvador, de la Universidad de chile en Santiago.
Se especializa en Cirugía Vitreo-Retinal en le prestigioso Moorfields Eye Hospital de Londres.
En su trayectoria laboral destacan su trabajo como cirujano y jefe de la Unidad de Trauma Ocular del Hospital del Salvador, Jefe del Servicio de Oftalmología y de la Unidad de Cirugía Vitreo-retinal Infantil y Retinopatía
del Prematuro del Hospital Roberto de Río de Santiago y Jefe de la Unidad de Oftalmología de Clínica Tabancura.
El Dr. Kychenthal es reconocido internacionalmente por su destacado trabajo en cirugía vítreo-retinal infantil y retinopatía del prematuro. Ha sido responsable de introducir en Chile las más modernas técnicas para cirugía de la retina.
En el área académica, ejerció como Profesor Agregado del departamento de Pediatría y Cirugía Infantil de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile. Se ha destacado por su importantes publicaciones en las más prestigiosas revistas internacionales de Retina y por decenas de presentaciones en los más importantes foros internacionales de la especialidad.
