A letter from the Pastor My dear People at Blessed Seelos Parish: Jesus is not asking us to earn his love – we are already loved deeply and endlessly – whether we feel we have “earned it” or not. But God’s plan for each one of us as human beings is to realize how loved we are and to be so filled with gratitude that we want to follow Jesus and his way of doing things. It’s counter-cultural and not always understood by those around us, but Jesus asks us to follow him and die to ourselves. That dying to ourselves, which sounds so dramatic, can be carried out quietly every day in our lives: when we put the needs of another ahead of our own; when we refrain from an angry outburst; when we reach out to those in need or become more merciful to those around us and those in our world whose desperate lives so urgently need our awareness and mercy. The more we make our hearts like Jesus' heart, the easier it is to find Jesus in our lives, and the Holy Spirit is simply Jesus’ presence in our lives right now. Pope Francis reminds us that "The Holy Spirit, as Jesus said, will teach us everything" and "is the living presence of God in the Church.” Jesús no nos pide que nos ganemos su amor – ya somos amados profundamente – lo sintamos que somos merecedores o no. El plan de Dios para cada uno de nosotros es el darnos cuenta cuan amados somos y de esa manera estar tan llenos de agradecimiento que queramos seguir a Jesús. Esto va en contra de la corriente hoy en día, y no es siempre entendido por los que nos rodean, pero Jesús nos pide que le sigamos y que muramos a nosotros mismos. Aunque esto suene dramático, se puede llevar a cabo calladamente cada día de nuestras vidas: cuando ponemos las necesidades de otros por delante de las nuestras; cuando refrenamos nuestro coraje; cuando ayudamos a los más necesitados y somos misericordiosos. Mientras más hacemos que nuestros corazones sean como el de Jesús, más fácil se hace encontrar a Jesús en nuestras vidas, y el Espíritu Santo es simplemente la presencia de Jesús con nosotros ahora. El Papa Francisco nos recuerda que “el Espíritu Santo, como nos dijo Jesús, nos lo va a enseñar todo” y “es la presencia viva de Dios en la Iglesia.”

Footprints in the Sand "Lord, You promised me that if I followed you, you would always walk by my side. However, I have noticed that in the most difficult moments of my life, there were only a couple of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, did not you walk by my side? Then He answered me:

"Dear son. I love you infinitely and I would never abandon you in difficult times. When you saw in the sand only a couple of footprints is because I was carrying you in my arms ... ".

“Señor, Tú me prometiste que si te seguía siempre caminarías a mi lado. Sin embargo, he notado que en los momentos más difíciles de mi vida, había sólo un par de huellas en la arena. ¿Por qué, cuándo más te necesité, no caminaste a mi lado?. Entonces Él me respondió:

“Querido hijo. Yo te amo infinitamente y jamás te abandonaría en los momentos difíciles. Cuando viste en la arena sólo un par de pisadas es porque yo te cargaba en mis brazos…”.
