Discipleship Prayer

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This weekend, we are giving thanks to our God for all of the gifts that He has provided for us. This ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE is a guiding light for us as members of the Parish of St Turibius. The following is our Parish Mission Statement:

We, believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out Christ’s Great Command-ment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God by the way we love and care for one another.

To this end, we will respond to our baptismal call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent and our treasure with each other.

We welcome into our parish family all people, because we believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace, forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our com-munity in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart.

May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with us, know we are Christians by our love!

Rev. William Lego, OSA

Good and Gracious God, Your Son, Jesus Christ, invites all people tofollow him and become his disciples.

Touch our hearts, enlighten our minds, and stir our spirit.

Help us daily to take up our cross and follow him; by living his Wordand proclaiming his Good News to those around us.

May our faith in you increase, may our hunger for the Gospel intensify, and may our parish be strengthened as we learn to love one another

as he has loved us.

Estimados Hermanos/as en Cristo,

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,

Dlatego my, Parafialna Rodzina Świętego Turybiusza, poświęcamy się realizacji Wielkiego Przykazania Miłości: będziemy kochać Pana, naszego Boga, całym naszym sercem, całą naszą duszą, całym naszym umysłem i całą naszą siłą, i będziemy okazywać miłość do Boga poprzez sposób, w jaki kochamy się i troszczymy o siebie nawzajem.

Ks. William Lego, OSA

Life Begins At Conception

It is an error to claim, "It's not a human, it's a fetus."

That would be like saying, "It's not a human, it's an infant," or, "It's not a human, it's an adolescent." These are category fallacies.

The proper answer to these assertions would be, "Sure it's a fetus, sure it's an infant, and sure it's an adolescent. It's a human fetus,

a human infant, and a human adolescent." These are simply stages of development in the human life cycle. A human starts

as an embryo, becomes a fetus, is born an infant, develops into a child, grows into an adolescent, matures into adulthood, and

eventually dies.

Scientifically and philosophically, there is no good reason to believe a human being is created at birth, because nothing is created at birth. At birth, a fetus simply changes location and

changes its mode of acquiring food and dispensing waste, but at no point does the child become something entirely new

or different.

Life begins at conception and proceeds through its stages until death. From the moment of conception, the unborn are human

beings. -By Pro-Life Articles Author

Saint Toribio Alfonso de Mogrovejo (16 November 1538 – 23 March 1606)

was a Spanish prelate of the Catholic Church who served as the Archbishop of Lima from 1579 until his death. He first studied in the humanities and law before serving as a professor and later as the Grand Inquisitor at the behest of King Philip II. His piousness and learning had reached the ears of the king who appointed him to that position which was considered unusual since he had no previous government or judicial experience. His no-ted work for the Inquisition earned him praise from the king who nominated him for the vacant Lima archdioce-se. The pope confirmed this despite his protests.

Mogrovejo was ordained to the priesthood in 1578 and was later consecrated as an archbishop in 1580 before setting off for Peru to begin his mission. He was a noted and charismatic preacher who set about baptizing and catechizing to the natives while confirming almost half a million people; those included Saint Rose of Lima and Saint Martin de Porres. The archbishop was a staunch advocate for archdiocesan reform and set to work re-forming the diocesan priests from impurities and scan-dals while instituting new educational procedures for seminaries.

He predicted the exact date and hour he would die which would come to pass. His reputation for holiness and learning was never forgotten for it led to calls for his canonization. Pope Innocent XI beatified the late archbishop but Pope Benedict XIII was the one to ca-nonize him as a saint on 10 December 1726. Mogrove-jo is also honored as a saint in the United States Epis-copal Church and the Anglican Communion.

Veteran’s Day On Veteran’s Day we honor all, who answered to a service call.

Soldiers young, and soldiers old, fought for freedom, brave and bold. Some have lived, while others died, and all of them deserve our pride.

We’re proud of all the soldiers who, kept thinking of red, white and blue. They fought for us and all our rights, they fought through many days and nights. And though we may not know each name, we thank ALL veterans

just the same. (Submitted by Frank Marszalik)

We Are One Family, Encircled by God’s Love!

Saint Turibius Parish

Parish Mission Statement

We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in

us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out

Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God

by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal

call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by

the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent

and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we

believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,

forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with

us, know we are Christians by our love!
