Below expectation with one and clear important mistake or a performance with two or more clear and important mistakes. 6.0 6.9 Unacceptable. Small description of the match (extra-ordinary incidents etc.): On the third matchday in group B, Cuba needed a win to keep their chances for the K.O.- stage, while Portugal needed only one point for the round of 16. The match confirmed the impressions from the previous matches and Portugal dominated during the whole time, creating a lot of chances and using them five times. Together with the very quiet atmosphere in the stadium, one could get the impression, it was just a training match. So, it was an easy task for the referee Wilmar Roldan from Colombia without critical scenes, also because both teams played fair and Cuba did not show any signs of frustration.

Crucial Decisions (refer to penalty kicks, sending-off situations etc.)

Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the referee’s decision

57No foul penalty to Cuba, correct decision, because the Portuguese defender usedhis body in a legal way.

Basic Observations (refer to the general application of the LotG, highlight thereferee’s tactical approach, personality, match control, management of the teamsand players, teamwork etc.).Please deploy short but precise and detailed sentences!

Positive Points

1. He did not make unnecessary mistakes, stayed as unobtrusive as the matchallowed.

2.Good card management, gave only the necessary cautions, very good to bookLuis Saez 2 minutes later, after allowing an advantage first (79’)

3. Good technical management (injuries, additional time,…)

Points for Improvement

None, because he showed expected level in all areas like foul detection, consistency, control, positioning but was nearly not challenged.

Further observations (peculiarities of the referee revealing his character)

A boring afternoon for Roldan, who could stay invisible for the most time due tothe character of the match, but also because he recognized it, and did not try topresent himself. One cannot say much about his abilities or his style after thismatch, but as he did not reveal any points of improvement, it was surely a good

performance.
