Solar radiation at various weather conditions

foul cloudy sunny 100-400W/m² 400-700W/m² 700-1100W/m²

A foul weather condition means low solar radiation. With usual solar systems this radiation is useless.

By minimizing thermal losses of your collector you can make it useable.

1 – glass tube2 – vacuum3 – absorber4 – heat conductance sheet

5 – U-pipe6 - reflector

4 – coaxial tube (DF)

thermos or double-glass tube high vacuum tube

Vacuum tubes – differences / comparison

Vacuum tubes also work at low outside temperatures.Basic differences are cognizable at different types.

HP heat pipe (dry) DF direct flow (wet)

Vacuum tubes – two different types

HP – Heat pipe high vacuum tube collector – function

HP – Heat pipe high vacuum tube collector - function

DF – direct flow high vacuum tube collector - function

Important technical terms in solar technology.Different reference surfaces.

1. Absorber surface area:viewable, unshadowed surface area of the absorber, on which the radiation can be changed into heat.

2. Aperture surface area:Surface for catching the solar radiation into the absorber / inside area of the collector.

3. Gross collector area:total area of the collector, which is necessary to mount the collector.

Augusta Solar Collectors:

- our absorbers are completely independent from environmental influences (salt, air humidity, dust)

- higher annual yield by higher efficiency with low solar radiation

- ideal collectors for solar space heating systems

- low reaction point (during daylight with 160 – 200 W / m²)

- proven constant performance for more than 15 years

- higher temperature level (for example industrial use or protection against Legionella)

- simple exchange of separate vacuum tubes (HP: without interfering with the system)

The optimal solution for the Alps

High performance vacuum tube collectorsfor satisfied costumers, even in winter

Take advantage of this properties:

Up to 50 % more annual energyproduced than with flat collectors

Borosilicate glass extremely robust

Quick assembly in any kind of roof even directly on the facade

Example: Hotel Sonnenhof, Zillertal

Before deciding for the augusta solar high vacuumtube collectors, Matthias Wildauer, hotelier inZillertal, tested four different types of collectors. The high performance, even in winter, have convincedhim. As the snow doesn't cover de tubes, the collectorsreceive the first rays of the morning sun.

Nr. of collectors 56

Type of collector AS 100 DF 6

Absorber Surface: 62 m²Winter absorber orientation: 60°Summer absorber orientation: 30°

Tanks 15,000 l buffer accumulator2,000 l DHW accumulator

Produced energy Winter: 20,100 kWh (Oct. - March)Summer: 32,500 kWh (April - Sept.)

Saving Oil consumption before mountingthe solar installation= 60,000 liters

Currently, ca. 14,000 l oil and about120 m³ beech wood logs.About 5,000 liters oil saved in a year.

<< The right solution for any season of the year >>
