VERBO TO BE (Ser o Estar)  

Este verbo puede ser usado como verbo principal para decir que algo o alguien existen o  como verbo auxiliar para formar otros tiempos verbales.   EL VERBO“TO BE” SE CONJUGA DE LA SIGUIENTE MANERA EN TIEMPO PRESENTE:      

INTERROGATIVE FORM (FORMA AFIRMATIVA) 

 

NEGATIVE FORM (FORMA NEGATIVA) 

INTERROGATIVE FORM (FORMA INTERROGATIVA) 

I    am He    She   is It   We  are You  are They  are 

Ejemplos:   

I am Japanese

 CONTRACCIONES:  Las contracciones son usadas frecuentemente en las conversaciones.  Estas son utilizadas  algunas  veces con nombres:   Ann’s from Russia;  Abdul’s from Syria.

GIVING PERSONAL INFORMATION  (DANDO INFORMACIÓN PERSONAL)  Para expresar la edad, el nombre, la nacionalidad y profesión se usa  el verbo TO BE conjugado de acuerdo al pronombre personal o sujeto.   

               AGE /EDAD:             How old are you?   I’m 22 years old. How old is she?       She is 32 years old. How old are they?  They are  15 years old.  NAME / NOMBRE  What’s your name?     My name is George                 My name is Anne  What is her name?      Her name is Katherine What is his name?       His name is Jhon   NATIONALITY/ NACIONALIDAD Where are you from?     I am from USA Where is he from?  She  is  from Switzerland

 “YES/NO” QUESTIONS.  (PREGUNTAS CORTAS)   Estas preguntas  buscan una respuesta afirmativa o negativa YES/NO (SI/NO), más no una explicación o  información adicional.  

 Be (conjugado)+ subject+ adjective, noun, or phrase  

 Am   I excited? Are you nervous?
