    Tribal notion

    Ordered, efficient, rational

Greek tragedies raise questions about that culture, civilized vs barbarian, men vs women, law vs. custom

Michel Foucault - advised, challenged societies in archaelogical fashion, dig beneath the surface.

Societies practice confinement (asylums, prisons) etc. because they can, same issue addressed in Greek

    Several dimensions of change :

Direction (if we want change, wehere are we going)

Depth (How much change to do you want)

Speed (If you want change now, you're in fingres, show youre in middle)

Method (either violent or not, peaceful middle

Conservative = pessimistic perspective of human beings

Liberals = believe huuman beings can be trusted.

Right --> looking back (ressurect Roman empire) - Direction

Left ---> Look forward (vision of futre that look better than present) - DirectionMiddle ---> Peaceful (method)

Depth ---> not much change, further out you go you want more change, leads to direction
