Comunitat Valenciana, destino “gay friendly”

The autonomic secretary of Tourism, Francesc Co-lomer, has highlighted that in the next International Tourism Fair in Madrid 2016 edition, Fitur 2016, “the Valencian Communi-ty will assist exhibiting the best hillside from ours tou-ristic offer, it should posi-tioned us as a hospitable and a land with values”. This way, the objective of the Valencian Agency of Tourism is to recovered the leadership in the com-munity”, as an open desti-nation, plural, accessible, singular and, mostly, with a values that are very far away from the image that we have been related the last years”.

In this line, Colomer has highlighted that in Ftur 2016 “we will sell the Va-lencian Community as a hospitable and a land with values focussed in the touristic experience and where all collectives have accommodation to enjoy the tourism”.

For the responsible of the touristic politics from the Government “has come the moment to demons-trate the world a new story from the Valencian Com-munity, because we are a land with values, welcome and hospitable, in the next Fitur edition, we will show the added value that this assume for the touristic offer from our land”.“We are a welcome land and we want to put in

value this new sensibility, removing ancients marke-ting concepts from the past like were the big events and coming back to the es-sence of our values, to our culture more Mediterra-nean who make us unique and attractive to visitors”, has explained Francesc Colomer.

In specific, the autonomic secretary of Tourism has explained that “between the new values that from the Government wants to publicize is the universal enjoyment of tourism”. In this line, has made emphasis in that “we are a destination where all the tourists are welcome, be-cause all collectives must be able enjoy the touristic experience”.

“For that, -has continued Colomer- from the Go-vernment we are working to promote the reachable tourism, for the people with some disability have the opportunity to enjoy our tourism and, in this meaning, the tourism without boundaries will be one of the products who we will publicize in the next Fitur fair.

Valencian Community, “gay friendly” destina-tion.

To this can be added, as has added Colomer, that “in the Government we are starting to write a new story with values destina-tion accessible, welcoming, plural and open to all co-llectives, like are the new families samples, formed by the collective LGBT”.This way, the Autonomic Secretary has pointed that the Valencian Govern-ment “pretends to positio-ned themselves as a gay friendly destination and for that they are going to participate for the first time as an own stand pa-vilion LGTB for the next Fitur edition”.

The LGTB pavilion is about an independent area inside the Fitur whe-re the destinations show the touristic offer intended to satisfy the needs from the collectives, with major touristic demands every time.

New campaign focusses in the hospitable

Hoteles tailandesesThai hotelsPor Katie NguyenLondres.

By Katie NguyenLONDON (Thomson Re-uters Foundation) - Many migrants working as wai-ters, gardeners and clea-ners in Thailand’s boo-ming tourism sector face below minimum wage pay, discrimination and no paid leave, according to an investigation of labour abuses in the country.More than 30 million tou-rists are expected to visit Thailand’s palm-fringed islands, white beaches, temples and vibrant night-life this year, and the thri-ving sector accounts for some 10 percent of natio-nal gross domestic pro-duct.However, a report on Wed-nesday by Swedish groups Schyst Resande and Fair Action found evidence

that many migrant wor-kers from Thailand’s poo-rer neighbour Myanmar are being exploited in the southern resorts of Khao Lak and Phuket, at hotels used by three of Sweden’s top tour operators. In all, 29 migrants were interviewed for the report, 18 of them working mainly as cleaners, gardeners and waiters in seven hotels used by REWE Group’s Apollo, TUI Group’s Fri-tidsresor and Thomas Cook Group’s Ving. The others were employed by companies supplying the hotels with services and goods including a bakery and laundry com-pany.“Among those we inter-viewed, it seems worse for those that work at the suppliers. They have lon-ger working days, they have less vacation and they also face a lot of dis-crimination,” said Fair Action project manager Amanda Söderlund. In a joint statement, Ving, Fritidsresor and Apollo said violations of natio-nal and international laws could mean the termina-tion of a contract with a hotel.“There are few compa-nies and organizations that can control all supply chains in all countries of the world,” the statement said. “Ving, Fritidsresor and Apollo are together working with thousands of hotels worldwide, it is difficult for us to follow up on all these individual hotels.”The operators said that was why they were wor-

king with Travelife, a cer-tification scheme for hotels focused on environmental standards and fair wor-king conditions.

THAILAND UNDER SCRUTINYAlmost two-thirds of the migrants in Fair Action’s report said they were paid less than the Southeast Asian country’s daily mi-nimum wage of 300 baht ($8.35), with a far higher proportion among mi-grants employed by hotel suppliers.Three laundry staff said they worked up to 19 hours a day during the peak tou-rism season with only two days off a month. Another reported working 16-hour shifts with no time off.Several workers described not being paid for taking time off to treat burns and other injuries sustained in the work place.

Thai workers, by contrast, received higher salaries and better benefits, inclu-ding better accommoda-tion, longer holidays and maternity and sick leave, the report said.Söderlund said concerns about “illegally low wages” paid to migrant workers were raised with the same tour operators in a 2012 Fair Action investigation, but little action had been taken.“We think that the tour operators should step up and take responsibility. They have known there are issues for several years. They can make an impact if they take their responsi-

bility seriously,” Söderlund told the Thomson Reuters Foundation. The operators said only one fifth of the Swedes vi-siting Thailand travelled with them. “It takes more than three tour operators to make sustainable chan-ge occur,” they said.Thailand has come under increasing scrutiny over its treatment of migrants following allegations of human trafficking, abu-se and exploitation in the fishing industry and more recently, the processing of chicken for export. It is one of the region’s bi-ggest importers of migrant labour, yet regulations are enforced loosely and many workers face exploitation and ill-treatment.Employers frequently con-fiscate identification docu-ments to keep unregistered workers from running off and to maintain pay rates below the national mini-mum wage.Last year, the U.S. State Department downgraded Thailand to its Tier 3 list of worst offenders in an annual ranking of nations by their efforts to combat human trafficking.

The Sustainability and Te-rritory Councillor, Santi Vila, has presented today the SENIF method, the first guide who publishes in Catalonia with its own methodology to calculate difficulty degree from the hiking itinerary. The guide complement itself with an online calculator to deter-minate the physic difficul-ty from any route and a catalogue of the informa-tive icons.

The guide is a fruit from the work of the Hiking Board from Alt Pirineu and Aran, a work group who reunited publics and privates agents involved in the projection of this territory as a hiking des-tination and that the Ins-titute for the Development and the Promotion of Alto Pirineo and Aran coordi-nate (IDPAP). In the fra-mework from this board it was found that the infor-mation who actually offer to hikers about the diffi-culty degree of a route is not homogeneous, that is to say, that the same itine-rary can be qualify as one level or other according the speaking agent.

Is for that reason that de Hiking Board impulse the elaboration of this brief credit guide, meant to be for people who applied touristic informants, hi-king technicians and also to be reproduced in web sites, triptych and applica-tions about the subject.

Meant to orientate spo-radic hikers. The guide is directed to

sporadic hikers that are the people who more orien-tation about the itinerary difficulty degree look for, and it applies in much sig-nalled routes who can be made in the same day and that start and finish in the same place. It can be circu-lars itineraries, routes that the return can be done in the same going path or just downhill, where the rise is made by mechanics tools.

In any case, in order to measure the difficulty of the route chosen, we con-sider two factors:

Physical difficulty: the method is based in the distance in kilometres that we have to travel and the accumulate ascent in me-ters to be calculate, and it suggest an icon for each difficulty degree. To avoid potential calculation mis-takes, has been created a simple app that allow to obtain it directly.

Technique Difficulty: as-sociated to the route con-ditions where the itinerary pass off. For this reason, it can come determinate by its wide variety of case studies, from the guide chose the more habitual. Provided to quantify re-quirement level from each factors and obtain an in-dicator for the same to complex exercises accu-mulation, it opts to inform with an icon and a brief text from the difficulty of various elements that the hikers can found.

Similarly, it suggest a simi-larly icon to the technique difficulty to inform when the itinerary is accessible to people with reduce mo-bility and vision, auditory

problems or kids with stro-ller.

From the crossing of this tow types of difficulty emerge the utilization of several predefined icons who will work to orienta-te casual hikers. The guide recommends that the data sheet from each route in-form also about the total distance to travel (going and coming), the needed time and if the itinerary is just downhill, specifying the transport medium used rising.

The elaboration of the SE-NIF method where have participated thirty Pyre-nean experts/agents, they have inspired in other methodologies that also suggest criterions to esta-blish the difficulty itine-rary level, as are made by the Hikers France Federa-tion, by the National Path Office of Ireland and the Excursion Information Method recommended by the Aragonese Mountai-neering Federation.

The SENDIF submits now a trial period of six months, during whom the Hiking Board will offer a counselling to public and privates agents to implant it and also will be perform presentation in the Alt Pi-rineu and Aran regions.

When it is all about to satisfy the senses, exist a place where the scents ins-pire us, the view seduce us too and the taste buds delights with dishes prepa-rations capable of generate the best culinary criticisms from lovers and experts.

The Margarita Island is well known as the Ca-ribbean pearl and it is loca-ted in front of Venezuelans coast, in the present time it houses a very important culinary movement who search going to the next level in the already won-derful local gastronomy. As is to expected the pre-parations underscore in the surrounding sea hand-out and it complements with the local agronomy production, combining it with a perfect harmony preparation on dishes like “the fish sancocho” who is a vegetable broth when fresh fish cooks, ajis seaso-ned and lemon, in general it is made with seer fish, mere, snapper and its very demand by those who look for strength after a night out.

Other emblematic dis-hes from the Island and requested in Holy Week or during Lent is “Mutts Cake” as the name tell us its preparation is where basically we backed fries

ripe bananas layers and mutt casserole that it is a kind of skate inherent from this Caribbean wa-ter, seasoned with the ever present the Margaritas ajis, it has the same main character in the unique “Cazon Empanadas” sea-soning, it is about a corn thin crust, it wraps up a delicious stew made of a kind of dwarf shark, grows up in the marine depths near to a coast named “Cazon”, later on it fries in plenty vegetable oil to delight locals and visitors in each breakfast, delica-cies that can be enjoy in a simple way in shore or to try different version more elegant in local restau-rants where qualified chef give everything to satisfy the diners.

The local seasoning is characterized by the use of great personal ingre-dients in honour to them, perform local festivals in view to promote their own production and use. This is the case for the Marga-ritans aji in its different variety (sweet and spice), ripe banana, octopus, sar-dine and others who occu-pied a big place in insular cuisine, although each

town has their own ways to use and prepared them at the moment to seaso-ning each chef put their self-touch making the food distinguish from others dishes, we can taste the food again and again each preparation and the visi-tors will tell every time the different flavour, the small details that makes stand out the virtues from some ingredients.

Next dishes but as equal as important are the desserts, after enjoying an exquisite preparations where the fish and the sea are the main character, we cannot live a side the sweet from can-ning, jellies and nougat – as the coconut, pineapple, sweet potato and lechosa- and the “Piñonate”, it di-fferentiated the Margari-tan been this last one base on green striped lechosa and papelon wrapped in bananas leaves whose be-half is by the resemblance from this seeds fruit like are the peñones, it is the bearer in this local sweets that cannot be miss in the afternoon snack or at the end of a pleasant feeding.

Kwon mainly by their coasts Alicante providence houses inside the Guadalest municipality in who-se vicinity highlight the picturesque San Jose Cast-le, sculpted in the imposing mountain who divides the old town and the suburb where museums, coffee shops and tourist service inhalations are to disposal to visitors, founding both spaces communicate by the landscape who opens the way across the mou-ntain.

Having their origins in middle age now days we found remains from castles and edifications from that era, like the Alcozaibas fortress who jointly with the already mentioned San Jose Castle were create during the Muslim occupation in XI century and currently it founds in the domains of the Or-duña old house conserving today several walls, the tribute tower in its inside host the town cemetery who constantly is immortalize by the cameras visi-tors, despite the suffer of earthquake pounding from 1644 and 1748 and the wars succession battle.

It is recognize as a historic-artistic group in 1974, beside its patrimonial richness it counts with ama-zing views, be located in a valley with the same name, flanking by the Xorta, Aitana, and Serrella mountain range and Guadalest river who covers the valley ending in reservoir built between 1953 and 1971, it can be contemplated by visitors from the city hall plaza viewpoint who is chaired by the “San Gregory” sculptures town Patron.

This town with picturesque peculiarity whose name is due to the fortification who crown it, retains the middle age fortress charm and their stately houses, where actually we found a big amount of museums

per inhabitant in Spain that distinguish between, the Municipal museum opened for the public in 1988 in the old house of Orduña date XVII century and it was gathered by the City Hall in 1994, with the idea to preserve its historical patrimony. Pecu-liarly the bell tower from the only church in town, it is found separated from this located in the mou-ntain watershed, separating the old town from the suburb to guaranty the new inhabitants in the town could listen the chime.

Who initially was the agrarian town, today only survive some dry land crops (almond tree, carob tree, olive tree), been the tourist activity the corner stone from the local economy, who gives the visitors a calm experience, peace and tranquillity different to the overcrowding and the coast bustle, making from this community the most Valencian visit com-munity in proportion whit the population who bea-ring no more than two hundred inhabitants.

The Pletera Project

It is about an affected area by an urbaniza-tion project who star-ted at the end of the

80´s with the construc-tion of walks, shortcuts and flats blocks but it didn´t continue. The ob-ject from the project is the integral restoration and definitive from the coastal lagoons in the Pletera, with purpose to recovered the ecolo-gic functionality. This project includes that the system could responded adequately to the chan-ge weather forecasts (increasing the sea level and higher frequency of intensives distur-bances) and guaranty the ecologic functiona-lity from the group, as well as short-term and long term. The antici-pated actions to reach this object include the de-urbanization from the existent walks and its adjacent spaces and subsequently recovered the ancient wet are and its ecologic functionality as coastal systems. Also

it pretend to increase the carbon fixation ca-pacity from this coastal systems and contributed so to the CO2 emissions reduction in the atmos-phere.

The project will provi-de the increment in the farted (Aphaniusiberus) nuclei population, an endemic fish from the peninsula. The lagoons have been designed in water mosaic form who keeps itself independent when the water levels are low, without com-munication with the sea to limit the entries from marine predators and an appropriate height to the immersed meadows from the aquatic plant Ruppiacirrhosa, charac-teristic habit from this fish.

Noche de GemínidasNights of Geminids

The choreographer Argentinean Marilu Fischer has Nights of Geminids.

Every year in the mettle of December the night skies cover itself of lights sparkles coming from the Gemini constellation, who give the specialized spectators and followers a show of lights with an interesting scientific background.

Traditionally this astronomic phenomenon originates in the stele from residues who lives comets, whoever, in the orbit where they come from the Geminis are not found in the records. In 1983 the NASA identified that this orbit is found occupied by rocky steroids who were denominated 3200 Phaethon, according the specialist it is about a steroid made of rock (extinguish comet) that

going close to the sun the high temperatures causes a detachment of residues from its rocky surface who are burn and produce the lights show in the celestial vault, particularly in this year 2015 we could watch from 07th until 17th December from the north hemisphere and the tropical area, south subtropical hemisphere comfor-tably.

Giving the geographic location from the Canarian Is-land it constitute an excellent amphitheatre to enjoy the lights show compose by the Geminis, moreover when the experts have recognized tis potentialities with the “Star-light Reserve” where have been establish observation points in the Canarian Astrophysics Institute, it counts with vanguard equipment from scores of Scientifics ins-titutions bellowing to more than 17 countries, giving the promotions implementation geared to capture tourist interested in this area.

To enjoy fullness this experience, it is recommend to look for an observation point with the following cha-racteristics:

• It should be dark where the reflect from the city lights don´t interfere the visual sky.• Procure in the possible that the horizon doesn´t look hampered with edifications, mountains or threes.• Giving that the phenomenon makes visible late at night and during the daybreak, it is recommend take provisions according the weather and the place you lo-cated.

La novísima vitivinicultura en República DominicanaThe most recent grape wine-growing in Dominican Republic

¿Ciencia o Arte?

Science or art? The em-pirical visualise it as pro-ceedings, the idealistic as ability, true is that both are essential to accomplish productive and efficient cultivation who guaran-tee the appropriate nectar that will became in the most treasured elixir that we all know as the wine.We can ask us if the hum-bles settler from the Neiba town; capital from the Ca-ribbean Island Bahoruco are scholars or artists? Which is really admira-ble the work that they put on the crops winning the “grape and wine- growing” title.

The United Nations in the assistance framework re-quest technique taken by the Caribbean country achieve an enthusiastic re-port about the possibility to develop the island grape crops in tropical dry clima-te and it wasn’t until 2004 when the first grape har-vest in Neiba happened, together with an advising Italian team in leadership from an oenologist named Giovanny Campodonico and currently a national oenologist team who has achieved develop a grape and wine-growing tech-nique by the Dominicans that involved a better qua-lity grape and its proces-sing for consumption that will go on beyond from the domestic.

Now days exist twenty three grapes variety who adapt very well in the soil and the climate charac-teristic from de island re-maining the tempranillo, the Cabernet Sauvignon and the age-old aramon

among the meaningful, they have the most ap-pearance given that their biological characteristic make them very resis-tance to vine illness and plague without compro-mise their performance, it characterized because it generate light wine in colour and flavour under the alcohol content, that is the reason because in countries with more wine trajectory use the assem-bly preparation, however in case of Dominicans wine growers it result as the main figure in their varietal icon, leading the plan to project Domini-cans Republic in the wine grower marked to be part of as they called “new la-titudes wine” searching to improve the product qua-lity and to get them into positions next to others important Latin Ameri-can products.

The Plastics Arts Circuits exposition 2015 presents the work of teen chosen artist in the XXVI edition of the Circuits convocation that the regional Govern-ment organized annually in order to support the emergent art and provide access to young artists in the professional world.

The director from the Cul-ture and Tourism office, Anunciada Fernandez de

Cordova, has assisted to-day in the Madrid’s Com-munity Young Art Hall (America Avenue, 13) to the opening of this expo-sition, curated by Yara Sonseca Mas, who can be visited until the next 10th January. “The promotion of the artistic creation in Madrid is one of the main objective of the regional Government, and a proof of that is the prominent role in the programs like Plastics Arts Circuits and the Madrid´s Communi-ty Young Art Hall whose purpose is the incorpora-tion from our young artists and curated in the profes-sional field”, has pointed Fernandez de Cordova.

The project stets presented today are a sample very illustrated of the actual artistic creation: they tra-vel from local to global, as consequence of the exis-ting information accessibi-lity and the international

information from many selected artist, as by the treated thematic, indivi-duals and universal at the same time. The exposition offers, also, an overview very complete from the variety of disciplines and actual artistic methods, from the site-specific ins-tallations till, painting, sculpture, engraved, pho-tography and video.

The selected artists from this edition are Ana de Fontecha, Daniel Cerra-jon, Nadia Hotait, Julian Cruz, Vassallo, Roberto Guillen, Carlos Ramirez, Raul Hidalgo, Miguel An-gel Rego and the collective SomosNostros (WeAre) formed by Alfonso Manuel Fernandez and Begoña Garcia. As the single site-specific in the exhibition, Ana de Foncheta presents a sculptural installation who remits the own spa-ce hall and the subjectivi-ty from the spectator as a

media instrument.

Also playing with the spa-ce, even though from a very different perspective, Daniel Cerrajon expands her bills devices along the exhibition itinerary, emu-lating the movement of the money in the society and its consequences both ma-croeconomics and daily. Audio-visual installations as the proposed by Nadia Hotait and SomosNostros (WeAre), they work half in completely different ways: Hotait in plastics terms, through collage and the architecture to generate a poetic space at the same time a subtly politic; So-mosNosotros (WeAre) as an institutional critic tool and situation analysis from the raising art in na-tional context.
