With these three studies Bartók quite deliberately aimed to leave his mark on New Music in 1918. The first study is a kind of super-charged, motorically ve-hement Allegro barbaro, while the second, with its effervescent waterfalls of sound, seems redolent of an elegy inspired by Debussy. In the third, by con-trast, Schönberg’s influence is recognisable.– demanding cycle by Bartók– after the text of the Bartók Complete Edition– with suggestions for performance practice

Joseph haydn Die Klaviersonaten
Haydn from Henle New in Urtext: The Piano Sonatas
Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven: the piano sonatas by these three “Viennese classical composers” constitute the core of Henle’s Urtext catalogue. Since the 1960s Haydn’s sonatas have been available in Henle editions based on the musi-cal score from the Haydn Complete Edition, also available from the same publisher – the Henle edition can thus lay claim to the highest scholarly quality and authoritativeness. Based on the recently published Critical Reports, the musical score has now undergone a further re-view. And, the three-volume edition has been furnished with prefaces and commentaries on source material based on the latest scholarly research.
Over 50 internationally celebrated pia-nists were invited to adopt one Haydn piano sonata each and provide it with their personal fingerings – a “who’s who” on the contemporary piano scene.

Sonata in a major op. 69 for piano and Violoncello
Of Beethoven’s five cello sonatas, the Grande Sonate op. 69, published in 1809, is not only the centrepiece, but also musically the most significant.
Sonata in D major op. 102 no. 2 for piano and Violoncello
This sonata reflects Beethoven’s preoccupation with traditional counterpoint; if in the opening movement his ingenious combination of extremely different themes elicits admiration, then in the “Allegro fugato” section of the finale we witness how he conjures from one simple theme the highest contrapuntal art.– with marked and unmarked string parts– single edition taken from HN 894

concertante works, chamber Music, and Songs
The last great Romantic of the twentieth cen-tury, Richard Strauss is one of the most per-formed composers in the world to this day. However, his artistic standing often contrasts starkly with the flawed quality of the musical texts that has been available up to now.
We will now present the most important con-certante and chamber music works in reliable Urtext quality – in many cases for the first time ever. Outstanding artists and performers of Strauss are lending us their support for this exciting project.
