SyncE (Synchronous Ethernet)
• Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) es un método que estábasado en el nivel físico Ethernet y permite la distribución de
una frecuencia a través de su recuperación del propio tráficoEthernet
• Se consigue sustituyendo el cristal que proporciona reloj a los PHY con un PLL
• Cada nodo de la red debe ser capaz de recibir y retransmitir
el sincronismo. Cualquier excepción rompe la cadena de
sincronismo

IEEE 1588v2 (PTP)
• Precision Time Protocol (PTP) ha sido definido por el IEEE 1588 con los siguientes objetivos:
• Precisión de sincronismo por debajo de los microsegundos
• Mínimos requerimientos en ancho de banda y tiempo de proceso lo que hace que pueda ser implementado en dispostivos de bajo coste
• Poca necesidad de administración
• Transporte a través de Ethernet pero también a través de otras redes
• Utiliza 4 tipos de paquetes/mensajes para ‘timestamping’:• Sync (t1, t2)
• Follow Up (optional)
• Delay Request (t3, t4)
• Delay Response

Limitaciones en la red a SyncE/PTP
• Asimetrías en la red (path/fiber length/load)
• Modulación y codificación adaptativa en enlaces microondas
• Ejemplo: retardo en un enlace a 28 MHz
• 256QAM = 110 µs
• QPSK = 800 µs
• Packet delay variation
• Todos estos factores pueden hacer inviable un modelo centralizado de reloj

Distribuido vs centralizado
• Si distribuimos del GC (Grandmaster Clock) hacia el exterior de la red
• Debido al menor número de saltos entre el reloj maestro y el eNodeBse reducen las incertidumbres y se incrementa la precisión del relojrecibido
• Se adapta a la red existencia (pocas migraciones)
• Solución basada en GPS + IEEE 1588 para redundancia
• Sin un punto único de fallo
• Puede combinarse con relojes remotos via PTP si lascondiciones de la red son aceptables
