PEKINPEKIN

Page 4: In&out 11a

Located on the outskirts of the an-cient Chinese civilization, Beijing became the bulwark of foreign powers that occupied China in the North between the 10th and 12th centuries. The Liao dynasty esta-blished here their southern capital, the most accredited of all five of the Kingdom. The Jin dynasty, the fo-llowing “barbarian” dynasty under-took a large urban project the image of the capital of the Northern Song, Kaifeng. In 1215 the Mongols de-vastated the city, but 50 years later Kublai Khan decided to build the new capital in it.

Colossal imperial villa containing complex of imperial palaces were in the South-Central area of the layout grid. The Yongle Emperor, the third Ming, decided to move the capital to Beijing. Walls on the northern side were moved more towards the

South so the imperial palace complex, the so-called forbidden city, remain exactly in the center of the plane. Thus the structure of the new Beijing repre-sents the pinnacle of Chinese traditio-nal urbanism, based on the Organiza-tion introduced by the Mongols as well as the structure of the imperial palaces of Kaifeng, and Nanjing also take into consideration the rules of Chinese geomancy. Beijing is one of the four municipalities of China, which are under the direct control of the cen-tral Government and provincial status. Beijing has been a municipality since the creation of the People’s Republic of China. It is one of the most popu-lous cities in China, only overtaken by Shanghai in terms of population. It is also an important node of communica-tion, since it possesses multiple railway lines, motorways and roads. It is recog-nized today as the social, political and cultural heart of China.

The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) pinyin: Guójiā dà jùyuàn; literally: National Grand Theatre), and colloquially described as The Giant Egg, is an opera house in Beijing, People’s Republic of China. The Centre,

an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake, seats 5,452 people in three halls and is almost 12,000 m² in size. It was designed by French architect Paul Andreu. Construction started in December 2001

and the inaugural concert was held in December 2007.Architecture

The National Centre for the Performing Arts with the Great Hall of the People in the backgroundThe exterior of the theater is a titanium accented glass dome that is completely surrounded by a man-made lake. It

is said to look like an egg floating on water, or a water drop. It was designed as an iconic feature, something that would be immediately recognizable.

The dome measures 212 meters in east–west direction, 144 meters in north–south direction, and is 46 meters high. The main entrance is at the north side. Guests arrive in the building after walking through a hallway that goes

underneath the lake. The titanium shell is broken by a glass curtain in north–south direction that gradually widens from top to bottom.

The location, immediately to the west of Tiananmen Square and the Great Hall of the People, and near the For-bidden City, combined with the theatre’s futuristic design, created considerable controversy.[3] Paul Andreu

countered that although there is indeed value in ancient traditional Chinese architecture, Beijing must also include modern architecture, as the capital of the country and an international city of great importance. His design, with large open space, water, trees, was specially designed to complement the red walls of ancient buildings and the

Great Hall of the People, in order to melt into the surroundings as opposed to standing out against them.

MASERATI LOUNGE CHAIR BY ZANOTTA

MASERATI LOUNGE CHAIR BY ZANOTTA EL PROJECTCOUNTED BY THE DESIGNERS LUDOVICA and ROBERTO PALOMBA

“the focus of this project has been mainly the to live the values of Maserati and Zanotta;” values such as style, elegance, quality and performance. We wanted this project to have a DNA that correspond with the two companies, paying special attention to design and quality. The Lounge Chair Maserati by Zanotta is an object that has a large craft component, manual production, thinking about it almost as if it were “a unique piece”. Lines we have defi ned the image in perspective of a Maserati, highlighting smooth bonnet silhouette structure. The skin covering has a very na-tural feel; inspiration comes from the softness of the pilots of the past racing driving gloves. The Lounge Chair is an exclusive product, which we wanted to convey a sense of quality immediately. We didn’t design a simple Chair to a car or not an armchair that adapts to this use... thinking of the game of “If” we have wondered: “If Maserati was an armchair, as it would be?”

SALÓN INTERNACIONAL DEL MUEBLE DE MILÁN 2013 ZANOTTA Y MASERATI PRESENTAN LA

LOUNGE CHAIR MASERATI BY ZANOTTA

Elie Saab is the eldest son of a wood merchant who raised five children in Damour, a southern coastal Beirut suburb.

Born to Maronite Catholic parents in Beirut, Saab is self-trained. He started sewing as a child and knew that one day he would make a living out of it. At the age of nine his attention was already turned to fashion. He

used to cut patterns out of newspaper and searched his mother’s closet for any lace he could find. He used his sister as his model, raiding his mother’s closet for anything he could drape upon her. However, his family was

pleasantly surprised when he turned out a blue and white striped gown for his sister.Family

Elie Saab is happily married to his wife Claudine whom he met when her mom bought one of his designs. They married three years later. They are the parents of three sons who live in Geneve.

Elie Saab has three houses in Lebanon. An old house in Gemayseh; as well as a house in Rabieh; and a Chalet in Faraya. He also has properties in France and Switzerland.

CareerIn 1982, Saab launched his Beirut-based fashion label when he was 18 years old with a team of 15 employees.

His main workshop is in Lebanon. He also has workshops in Milan and Paris.Elie Saab’s style is a unique fusion of western and eastern culture. He uses noble materials such as taffeta,

organza, noble and satin paired with more fluid and light fabrics. At first, his atelier was specialized in bridal couture making wedding dresses and gowns using rich fabrics,

lace, detailed embroidery, pearls, crystals and silk threads. In Beirut, his reputation grew from dressing the women in his neighbourhood, and was soon enhanced by high

society women who began sporting his designs. In 1981 he moved to Paris to study fashion, but ended up returning and opening his workshop in 1982. In 1997 Saab was the first non-Italian designer to become a member of the Italian Camera Nazionale della Moda, and in 1997, showed his first collection outside Lebanon in Rome. In 1998, he started ready-to-wear in Milan, and

in the same year, he held a fashion show in Monaco which was attended by Princess Stéphanie of Monaco. In 1999, Queen Rania of Jordan wore Elie Saab for her coronation. One of his dresses—somewhat less demu-re, presumably, than Queen Rania’s, and thickly embroidered with emeralds and diamonds—was reportedly

sold for $2.4 million. He became an overnight success after he became the first Lebanese designer to dress an Oscar winner, Halle

Berry, in 2002. Berry wore a burgundy gown by Saab to the 2002 Academy Awards when she won for Best Ac-tress. The dress Halle Berry wore was seen by millions of viewers

around the world. After this night, the designer was bombarded with interviews and appeared on at least 5 TV networks. Three

customers called the designer’s offices and ordered the dress to wear to weddings. And the Los Angeles label ABS set about crea-

ting a knockoff that will sell for less than $300. Berry later wore another dress by Saab, this time a gold dress, to the 2003 Oscars.

In May 2003, the Chambre Syn- dicale de la Haute Couture invited him to become a member, and he showed his first haute couture

collection in Paris in July 2003. His first ready-to-wear collection in Paris was the Spring-Summer 2006 collection, and Paris is now

his permanent ready-to-wear runway. His creations can be found all over the world, with boutiques loca-

ted in Beirut, Paris and London (also in Selfridges and Harrods). Elie Saab has 60 retail outlets all over the world.[10] His designs are

sold in 22 countries. In 2010, Saab dressed 102 inter- national celebrities for key global

events, up from 40 in 2009. The figure for 2011 up until March was 88.[11]In 2011, Elie Saab launched his first fragrance “Le Parfum” which became an overnight bestseller in 15 coun-

tries, including the UAE.

The fashion of “Trash the dress” joins a new concept of photography; sessions before and after the wedding celebration whose concept will more than put an end to the wedding dress search. “The tube”, from the hands of the Madrid photographer Pablo Salto-Weis (Teco) pro-pose a creative concept of photography of wedding that brings the art of makeup and hairdressing and styling wedding as a form of expres-sion. The search of a scenario that is unusual to capture the memory of an event unforgettable, shocking and opposed to the classic make this experience a result unique, exclusive and with great personality. can why the “Trash the dress”?.Tips from a model. Dana, as the pro-tagonist of these images, shows the versatility of posing a scenario of such derivative. “It is not always evoke the sweetness, always seek a same expression, play the girlfriend as something exclusive and graph paper”.” Trash the dress takes us to different scenarios that not always evoke beauty but that encourage a greater naturalness and spontaneity in the past. “” In “Trash the dress” TODO VALE: the game, the fun, spontaneity and the experience of space resulting in images more cre-dible at the level of expression and most impressive visually “.””Wi-thout doubt a fun, unique experience and would recommend that all brides for before or after the wedding”

Page 59: In&out 11a

I was born in 1982 in Valencia, but all my life I grew up in a small village of 500 inhabitants called Navajas (Castellón). Since this January, 2013, I have moved to Burriana. My love of photography started of well little, when my parents was 10 years old gave me a camera that had given her to buy a TV I remember. The camera in question was a stirring four lens that needed a special reel and that not told it me until you take a second empty spool so the photos they printed for me. After that experience, at age 13 arrived which was my first camera, which curiously nor remember how it was called or what. With her I discove-red my passion for photography, and I did my first reports coincide with a flood that occu-rred in my town in 2001, first nevada intense in my town or the arrival of the trainings of the formula 1 in Valencia, in 2003. Then, with 22 years I get my first digital compact, she arrived in mass photos and my passion for portraiture and fashion. In 2008 I decided to train academic minds in the industry and make a higher degree of two years of image (photograph on everything but with a high agenda in video). Coinciding with the start of the course, got my first SLR and with it, my

photo explosion. After passing through various disciplines of photography, deci-ded to exploit my creative side in fashion, portrait and nude, which are the trends that currently feed my work, but without neglecting photography of weddings, baptisms and communions or the adver-tising. After my change of residence to a small coastal town such as Burriana, I hope to give a twist to my style of photography in fashion because of the new possibilities that open me a city with mar.
