En medio de todas las dificultades que ha provocado la pandemia, es una bendición que todavía podamos reunirnos y celebrar la Eucaristía. Quiero agradecer a todos los que asisten a nuestras misas dominicales y entre semana por su colaboración siguiendo las pautas y protocolos. Sigamos con el buen trabajo para que podamos seguir reuniéndonos para orar mientras nos protegemos unos a otros usando el cubre bocas.

Hace dos semanas, escribí en nuestro boletín sobre la planificación de un festival con el fin de recaudar fondos para nuestra parroquia. Nuestra primera reunión de planificación contó con una gran asistencia y tuvimos buenas discusiones con un espíritu de colaboración. Los asistentes a la reunión se fueron llenos de ilusión y esperanza, porque es hora de reunirnos como comunidad y socializar. Nuestras reuniones espirituales son importantes, pero también necesitamos eventos en los que podamos compartir y seguir trabajando por la unidad de nuestra familia parroquial.

Escucharán más sobre este evento que está planeado para el 16 de Octubre en el estacionamiento de Nuestra Señora de Knock. Necesitamos voluntarios y donaciones para que podamos hacerlo posible. Encontrarán una hoja de registro de voluntarios en nuestro boletín y mas información sobre el festival. Si quieren ayudar y ser parte de esto con sus donaciones o su tiempo como voluntarios, vengan y únanse con nosotros para hacer posible este tan merecido y festivo evento después de todo lo que hemos pasado. Quiero agradecerles a todos de antemano por su disposición para ayudar y colaborar con su tiempo y contribuciones en nuestra comunidad.

In the middle of all the difficulties caused by the pandemic it is a blessing that we still can get together and celebrate the Eucharist. I want to thank all of you who attend our Sunday and weekday masses and also for your collaboration following the guidelines and protocols. Let us keep up the good work so that we can continue getting together to pray while we protect each other by using the mask.

Two weeks ago, I wrote in our bulletin about the planning of a festival in order to raise funds for our parish. Our first planning meeting was well attended, and we had good discussions in a spirit of collaboration. Those attending the meeting left full of excitement and hope, because it is time to come together as a community and socialize. Our spiritual gatherings are important, but we also need events where we can share with each other and keep working for the unity of our parish family.

You will be hearing more about this event that is planned to happen on October 16th at the Our Lady of Knock’s parking lot. We need volunteers and donations so that we can make this possible. You will find a volunteer sign-up sheet in our bulletin and other information regarding the festival. If you want to help and be part of this with your donations or your time as a volunteer, please come and join us to make this well-deserved and festive event a success after all that we have been through. I want to thank all of you in advance for your willingness to help and contribute your time and blessings with our community.

We're Baaaack... After a long Covid shutdown, Trivia Nite Out will return on October 2nd at Our Lady of Knock at 7:30pm . Here's the deal. Teams of up to six compete in a trivia competition covering any and all kinds of questions, for fame, fortune, and possession of the world famous Beanie Boyz traveling trophy. Bring snacks, one food item will be available for purchase, and we will have beverage available for sale pop, beer, wine, water and hard seltzer . The contest will go until 9:30 or so depending on the number of teams. There will be 50/50 raf le and there will be door prizes.

CHOIR NEWS As we approach fall, hopefully everyone is having a happy and safe summer. We can only look for positive attitudes and keep praying for the future. Since we've had our music aids, hymnals, and missalettes for about a month now, participation has really increased in numbers. Having said this, singing is one of the most important part in our liturgies. We can say it's like praying twice to God. The ministry of music is a tool for all of us to follow whenever we come to Mass. To get involved even more you can also join the Jesus Shepherd of Souls choir for the 10:00am Mass at the St. Andrew site soon. We have hoped to start choir practices September 8th, but due to the pandemic the Archdiocese of Chicago is mandating we wear a mask until it is safe and the number of the Covid cases decrease. So, we want to keep everyone's health the number one priority. Please continue to pray so we can get through this and start choir soon.
