My qualifications are as follows:    Three years of experience teaching children as young as three and students as old as forty.  A year of teaching English as a second language in Hangzhou, China.  A four year, Bachelors of Arts, degree in both English Literature and World History.  A California Teaching Credential, which qualifies me to teach junior high school and high school in California and in most states in the United States.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  A passion to teach, to learn and to experience other cultures.  I have always wanted to be a teacher and teaching abroad has been a longtime dream of mine.  Last year, as our studies were coming to an end and my significant other and I were faced with the very real question of what to do with ourselves, we decided to go abroad to teach before returning to the United States to begin our careers as educators.  Unlike many ex-pats we have met while living abroad, who choose to teach out of necessity, teaching for us is a life path and a life passion.  In teaching abroad we hope not only to enhance the education of our students, but also to improve our own teaching abilities and to further our own education, not only as scholars, but as students of life.  Over the years I have taught a wide range of learners from preschool children no older than three to adults in their forties. While in university I spent my summers teaching in a summer school for preschool children. In addition, during the school year I spent my spare time teaching ceramic sculpting classes at the University Craft Center to fellow students and faculty members.  After graduating with a double major in English Literature and in History, I enrolled in the u niversity’ s teaching Credential Program where I spent a year teaching middle school and high school students under the supervision of my master teachers by day, and taking education courses by night.   Following the completion of the credential program my significant other and I found teaching jobs in the beautiful city of Hangzhou in China, where we currently teach English to children between the ages of five and fifteen years old.  I enjoy working with students of all ages and love the energy that students bring to the classroom.  My teaching philosophy is heavily influence by the belief that we learn best by doing, and that to be a successful teacher one must engage their students in the process of learning.  Learning is more than mere rote memorization, but a process of interacting with new information and constructing new understanding.  This is particularly important when it comes to teaching a foreign language.  Language as a vocabulary list has no meaning to a learner.  However, language as a means of self expression and interaction is very meaningful.   In an active learning environment students are pushed to use the new information they are given to construct original work, which helps them clarify their understanding of the information by getting them to process it and put it in their own terms.  In the case of language learning, student work generally takes the form of new sentences and stories, which are encouraged through a variety of activities and conversation starters that require students to formulate original utterances.  Breanne M. To whom it may concern:

I am currently living and teaching in Hangzhou, China and am seeking employment in a Spanish speaking

nation for the next school year.  I am able to start work in the fall, either August or September. My qualificationsare as follows:

Three years of experience teaching children as young as three and students as old as forty.

A year of teaching English as a second language in Hangzhou, China.

A four year, Bachelors of Arts, degree in both English Literature and World History.

A California Teaching Credential, which qualifies me to teach junior high school and high school inCalifornia and in most states in the United States.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

A passion to teach, to learn and to experience other cultures. I have always wanted to be a teacher and teaching abroad has been a longtime dream of mine.  Last year, as

our studies were coming to an end and my significant other and I were faced with the very real question of whatto do with ourselves, we decided to go abroad to teach before returning to the United States to begin our careersas educators.  Unlike many ex-pats we have met while living abroad, who choose to teach out of necessity, teaching for us is a life path and a life passion.  In teaching abroad we hope not only to enhance the education of our students, but also to improve our own teaching abilities and to further our own education, not only asscholars, but as students of life.

Over the years I have taught a wide range of learners from preschool children no older than three to adults

in their forties. While in university I spent my summers teaching in a summer school for preschool children. Inaddition, during the school year I spent my spare time teaching ceramic sculpting classes at the University CraftCenter to fellow students and faculty members.  After graduating with a double major in English Literature andin History, I enrolled in the university’s teaching Credential Program where I spent a year teaching middle schooland high school students under the supervision of my master teachers by day, and taking education courses by night.   Following the completion of the credential program my significant other and I found teaching jobs in thebeautiful city of Hangzhou in China, where we currently teach English to children between the ages of five andfifteen years old.  I enjoy working with students of all ages and love the energy that students bring to theclassroom.

I have enjoyed living and teaching in China enormously and am looking forward to our next destinationwith the same excitement I had when we set out for China.  China was selected as our first destination due tothe fact that I have some family ties to the city.  My sister-in-law, who lives in California with my brother and

their children, grew up in Hangzhou, where her family still lives. For our second destination we are looking for aposition in a Spanish speaking nation, where we hope to improve our current Spanish skills.  During high schoolI took three years of Spanish classes, and one semester during my college career.  In addition I spent a monthtravelling in Costa Rica during the summer of 2009 gaining some invaluable real world practice with the Spanishlanguage.  Our time in China has been amazing, and as much as I will hate to leave I am also looking forward tothe next adventure, which teaching and learning always is.

Thank you for taking the time to review my resume. Enclosed is my resume, a copy of my degree, letters of

recommendation from my supervising teachers, and a copy of my passport. Please do not hesitate to contact meat your earliest convenience if you have questions or need additional information.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

     Breanne M. Gladwell
