La fiesta de hoy marca el final de la vida terrenal de Cristo

cuando regresa a su Padre. Esto no es solo una especie de

banquete "intermedio"; es una parte esencial del Misterio

Pascual, que abarca la Pasión y la Muerte, la Resurrección y la

Ascensión del Redentor. Es una parte integral del Credo de los

Apóstoles y del Credo de Nicea. Celebramos el hecho de que

Cristo está ahora a la diestra del Padre, para interceder por no-

sotros como nuestro mediador. Celebramos la aceptación de-

finitiva por parte del Padre de la muerte sacrificial de su Hijo

unigénito. Afirmamos con alegría que vendrá de nuevo,

tal como lo vieron ascender a su Padre en este día por sus

discípulos elegidos.

Su mensaje y su ejemplo fueron los mismos: "No os hagáis

tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y el orín corrompen ... sino

haceos tesoros en el cielo ... donde esté vuestro tesoro, allí es-

tará también vuestro corazón" ( Mateo 7: 19-21).

Today’s feast marks the end of the earthly life of

Christ as he returns to his Father. This is not just and “in-

between” sort of feast; it is an essential part of the Paschal

Mystery, which embraces the Passion and Death, Resurrec-

tion and Ascension of the Redeemer. It is an integral part of

the Apostles’ Creed, and of the Nicene Creed. We celebrate

the fact that Christ is now at the right hand of the Father,

there to intercede for us as our mediator. We celebrate the

definitive acceptance by the Father of the sacrificial death of

His only-begotten Son. We affirm joyously that he will come

again, just as he was seen ascending to his Father on this day

by his chosen disciples.

His message as well as his example was the same:

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth

and rust consume…but lay up for yourselves treasures in

heaven…where your treasure is, there will your heart be

also” (Matthew 7:19-21).

local veterans will be presenters at the program. American Legion Post #128. Buffalo Soldiers and the

VFW will also be represented.

Knights of Columbus is hosting the famous Port-A-Pit Half - Chicken Dinner -

May 19, 2018— —with numerous sides, drinks, and deserts. Meal tick-ets must be purchased in advance before and after all services. Eat in or carry out. The cost per ticket is $10 for the entire meal. If you are unable to attend the event, please consider donating your meal. This helps us raise money to help the parish out and various other youth charities in and around King, NC.
