Contributions to Weather InformationCollection of Probe Data
– SAE J2735 standard for collecting vehicle probe data– First priority given to information that will contribute to
Traveler Information
Cooperating with MDOT in their information integration project– Accepting guidance on what vehicle probe data will be
most beneficial to their project– Providing guidance on what integrated information will be
most beneficial to VIIC applications

Uses of Weather InformationDeveloping applications that will use weather information
– Applications are being created to test the end-to-end system including the complete loop from collecting probe data to improving vehicle safety and mobility based on using information gathered from probe data
– Applications under development will present Traveler Information and Signage to vehicle drivers, and provide dynamic route guidance
– Both applications will incorporate all dynamic information including weather
