AURORA – Manuel Ramírez llegó caminando con dificultad, apoyado en muletas.

Acompañado por su hermana y dos de sus hijos, se detuvo unos minutos frente al altar improvisado en honor de las seis personas que fallecieron en el incendio en el que él resultó herido.

Alrededor de las 4 de la mañana del 15 de mayo se registró un incendio en un edificio de 10 departamentos en el número 760 de Claim Street en el este de la ciudad.

De acuerdo a las autoridades, el incendio empezó en un departamento en la parte suroeste del edificio, en el primer piso, pero las llamas y el humo pronto se extendieron por todo el edificio, dejando atrapadas a las personas del segundo y tercer piso.

Cuando oficiales de policía y bomberos llegaron al lugar, la puerta del departamento de la planta baja donde inició el incendio estaba abierta. Esto, combinado con las áreas de las escaleras en las partes delantera y trasera del edificio contribuyeron a crear el llamado “efecto chimenea”, que intensificó el fuego y atrapó a los ocupantes del segundo y tercer piso.

Este parece ser el incendio en el que más gente ha perdido la vida en Aurora.

El segundo con más muertos sucedió en 1959, cuando cuatro residentes de Jennings Terrace en la calle La Salle y North Avenue perdieron la vida.

En comparación, en los años 2006, 2007 y 2009 una persona falleció cada año por el incendio. No se registraron muertes por incendios en los años 2008 o 2010.

Las autoridades informaron que los bomberos y la policía rescataron a tres personas del segundo piso usando una escalera y otros residentes escaparon por las puertas del primer piso. Algunos testigos indicaron que residentes del segundo y tercer piso brincaron desde sus ventanas para poder salvarse.

Recién salido del hospital la mañana del 16 de mayo, Ramírez llegó hasta el que había sido su hogar para intentar recuperar algunas identificaciones que le pedían en el hospital, donde continuaba internada una de sus hijas.

“Estaba dormido cuando mi esposa me levantó” dijo Ramírez, quien junto con su esposa y sus tres hijos vivían en un departamento en el tercer piso, en la parte noroeste del edificio de departamentos. “Tuvimos que saltar. Mi hija tiene tres fracturas, yo tengo fracturada la cintura y un pie. Caí y no me pude levantar. Pero con la desesperación me levanté para ir por mis hijos”.

La esposa del señor Ramírez resultó con un tobillo lastimado y sus dos hijos, Roberto Ramírez Hernández de 10 y Antonio Ramírez Hernández de 7, resultaron ilesos. Gabriela Ramírez Rodríguez, de 13 años, se encuentra hospitalizada.

Manuel Ramírez se retiró del lugar poco tiempo después, sin haber logrado entrar al edificio, ya que la policía que se encuentra custodiando el lugar le informó que no podían dejar entrar a nadie porque no hay pisos.

Seis personas fallecieron en el siniestro y alrededor de 12 resultaron heridos.

El médico forense del Condado de Kane identificó a las víctimas como Francisco Marcos Sr., su esposa Micaela Pérez y sus hijos Francisco Marcos Jr. y José Marcos. Las

otras dos víctimas fueron identificadas como Christina Domínguez y su hijo de 8 meses de edad, Alex Gonzaga.

Los sobrevivientes fueron transportados a hospitales de la localidad, donde algunos fueron dados de alta horas después y otros todavía se encuentran bajo tratamiento médico. Un menor de dos años de edad fue transportado al Centro Médico Loyola en Maywood para recibir tratamiento.

Las investigaciones preliminares indican que el edificio estaba ocupado por cuando menos 35 personas que vivían en 10 unidades.

El comunicado emitido por el Departamento de Bomberos indicó que la causa del incendio no se ha determinado. Sin embargo, los investigadores han eliminado varias causas posibles.

“(Los investigadores) se han quedado con la posibilidad de que el fuego fue causado por un arco de electricidad de una televisión, algo que los ingenieros eléctricos no pueden descartar, o por una vela encendida que se encontraba cerca”, dice el comunicado.

La investigación continúa abierta.Alrededor de 40 bomberos de los

departamentos de bomberos de Naperville, North Aurora y Montgomery acudieron a apagar el incendio.

Las autoridades indicaron que había detectores de humo en las áreas comunes del edificio y éstas se encontraban funcionando. El edificio de departamentos cuenta con una licencia oficial de la Ciudad de Aurora. En la última inspección que se realizó en el lugar, en junio de 2010, se detectaron algunas violaciones de seguridad que no ponían en riesgo la vida. Estas irregularidades fueron arregladas en febrero de este año.

Las víctimasDe acuerdo al reporte preliminar del

Departamento de Bomberos, mientras que el fuego aparentemente empezó en el apartamento 2 (ver diagrama), la mayor parte de los heridos y fallecidos se registraron en los pisos superiores.

En el apartamento 1 una mujer de 39 años y una bebé de un año de edad fueron llevadas al hospital para recibir tratamiento por inhalación de humo.

En el apartamento 2 había seis residentes y solamente un hombre de 60 años resultó herido cuando aparentemente trató de usar una manguera de jardín para apagar el fuego después de que se llamó al sistema de emergencias 911.

En el segundo piso bomberos rescataron a una persona del apartamento 4, localizado directamente sobre la unidad donde inició el incendio. La mujer de 59 años recibió tratamiento en el lugar del accidente. Este apartamento tenía poco daño por humo y fuego. Mientras tanto, tres personas del apartamento 6 fueron trasportados a un hospital por tratamiento de inhalación de humo.

En el apartamento 7, en el tercer piso vivían

dos de los fallecidos, Christina Domínguez y su hijo Alex Gonzaga, de 8 meses de edad. Un hombre de edad desconocida, que se cree es el papá del bebé, salió de este departamento por una ventana del tercer piso con su hija de dos años de edad. Ambos fueron llevados a un hospital de Aurora y la menor fue transferida al Hospital Loyola University por heridas consistentes con la caída de un tercer piso. Su condición se reporta grave, mientras que su padre se cree está en condición estable.

El apartamento 8 muestra mucho daño por el calor y humo del incendio. La investigación indica que la puerta del apartamento 8 estaba abierta cuando los bomberos llegaron al tercer piso. En este apartamento se encontraron cuatro víctimas mortales: un hombre de 29 años de edad, un niño de 9 años de edad, un niño de seis años de edad y una mujer de entre 30 años de edad. Un niño de 14 años de edad de esta unidad sobrevivió y fue transportado a un

hospital. Extraoficialmente estas víctimas han sido identificadas como Francisco Marcos Sr., su esposa Micaela Pérez, sus hijos Francisco Marcos Jr., estudiante de kinder, y José Marcos, estudiante de cuarto año de primaria. Ambos niños acudían a la Escuela Primaria Brady. El niño sobreviviente fue identificado como Teodoro Marcos, de 12 años de edad y estudiante de la Escuela Secundaria Waldo. La familia Marcos era originaria del estado de Puebla y sus familiares desean enviarlos a México para ser sepultados. Teodoro, quien ya salió del hospital, va a estar viviendo con familiares mientras se decide quién va a ser su guardián legal.

Testigos de la tragediaLos gritos de desesperación de los

residentes atrapados en sus departamentos despertaron a Liduvina Huante y su esposo Tony. El matrimonio Huante vive en el 754 Claim Street, junto al edificio que se incendió. Todavía inseguros de lo que estaba pasando, los Huante fueron evacuados de su hogar por los bomberos y la policía, quienes les dijeron que tenían que salir porque estaban en peligro.

“Estuvimos parados afuera en la banqueta, viendo lo que pasaba”, dijo Tony. “Estaba lloviendo, pero ni la lluvia sentíamos. Hasta que el vecino nos ofreció su casa para que esperáramos ahí”.

Los Huante recordaron lo que sucedió esa mañana mientras estaban parados afuera de la casa de su vecino, viendo las camionetas de las estaciones de televisión y el paso de la gente que quería ver el lugar del incendio.

Alrededor de las 9 de la mañana Liduvina pudo regresar a su hogar para confirmar que todo estuviera bien. Su propiedad no sufrió ningún daño.

“Estamos tristes porque al principio pensamos que solo había sido el incendio, pero después nos enteramos que habían fallecido”, dijo Tony. “Los conocíamos porque veíamos a los que vivían ahí. Nombres no sabemos”.

Tanto Liduvina como Tony dijeron haberse sentido impactados por las llamas que salían tanto del departamento de abajo, donde se cree inició el incendio, como en los departamentos de los pisos superiores. “Fue impactante, sobre todo los gritos”, dijo Liduvina, quien describió gente escapando del incendio sin zapatos, solo con lo que traían puesto.

“Que Dios acompañe a esas gentes que perdieron la vida”, dijo Liduvina.

Comunidad respondeLa Iglesia Bautista Emanuel, localizada a

tres casas del edificio incendiado, abrió sus puertas para recibir a los desplazados por el incendio y para servir como centro de acopio para la ayuda que la comunidad desee donar a los afectados.

Desde el domingo la gente comenzó a llevar

a este lugar ropa, comida y dinero para ayudar en lo que se pudiera.

“La respuesta de la comunidad considero que ha sido positiva, solo vea”, dijo la señora Laura Gaspar, voluntaria de la iglesia señalando las mesas cubiertas de ropa de distintas tallas que había sido donada en poco más de 24 horas.

“Ya no necesitamos más ropa, necesitamos artículos de aseo personal y comida enlatada para las familias”, comentó Gaspar de las necesidades actuales.

Dijo que miembros de la Cruz Roja habían estado en la iglesia el 15 de mayo para ayudar a las personas que lo necesitaran y ellos se habían encargado de encontrarles un lugar dónde quedarse a quienes hubieran quedado sin techo.

La iglesia está aceptando donativos de artículos de higiene personal y comida, así como de dinero en efectivo para ayudar con los gastos de los funerales de las víctimas y apoyar a los sobrevivientes. AURORA – Manuel Ramirez arrived walking with difficulty, using crutches. He was joined by his sister and two of his children. He stopped for a few minutes by the makeshift altar created in memory of the six people who died in the fire in which he was injured.

At about 4 a.m. May 15 a fire broke out in a 10-apartment building located at 760 Claim Street in the city’s east side.

According to authorities, the fire started in a first-floor apartment in the southwest side of the building, but the fire and the smoke quickly expanded throughout the building, leaving several people trapped in the upper floors.

When police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene, the door to the apartment where the fire allegedly started was open. This combined with the common stairs areas at the front and back of the building created chimney effect, which intensified the fire and trapped the residents inside.

This seems to be the deadliest fire in Aurora’s history.The second deadliest was in 1959, when four Jennings Terrace

residents died. The site is at the corner of LaSalle Street and North Avenue.

In comparison, in 2006, 2007 and 2009 only one person died each year in a fire-related incident, while in 2008 and 2010 there were no fire-related deaths.

Authorities said fire and police officers rescued three people from the second floor using a ladder, while other residents escaped through the first floor doors. Some witnesses said second and third-floor residents jumped from the windows to escape.

Having just been released from the hospital May 16 in the morning, Ramirez arrived to the place that had been his home to try to recover some identifications that were required by the hospital where his daughter was still recovering.

“I was sleeping when my wife woke me up,” Ramirez said. He lived in a third-floor apartment, on the northwest side of the building. “We had to jump. My daughter has three fractures and my waist is fractured and one of my feet. I fell and I couldn’t get up. But I was desperate and got up to help my children.”

Mr. Ramirez’ wife had a twisted ankle and his two sons, Roberto Ramirez Hernandez, 10, and Antonio Ramirez Hernandez, 7, were not injured. His daughter, Gabriela Ramirez Rodriguez, 13, is still in the hospital.

Ramirez left the scene a short time later, being turned away by police officers who were at the scene. He was told nobody could enter the building because there were no floors.

Six people died in the fire and about 12 were injured.The Kane County Coroner identified the victims as Franacisco

Marcos, his wife Micaela Perez and their two sons, Jose Marcos, and Franscisco Marcos Jr. Also killed were Cristian Dominguez Navarro and her son, Alex Gonzaga, 8 months.

The survivors were taken to area hospitals, where some were released hours later, while others are still hospitalized. A two-year old was transferred to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood for further treatment.

Preliminary results indicate that the building was occupied by at least 35 people who lived in 10 apartments.

On May 18 the Aurora Fire Department informed that investigators from the fire department, with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and the State Fire Marshal’s office, preliminarily determined that the fire was not suspicious in nature and that all the residents have cooperated with the investigation.

The release issued by the Aurora Fire Department states that the cause of the fire has been listed as undetermined and that investigators have been able to rule out many causes.

“(Investigators) are left with the possibility that this fire was caused by an electrical arc from a television set, which electrical engineers are unable to rule out, or an unattended candle burning in very close proximity,” the statement reads.

The investigation remains open.About 40 firefighters from Naperville, North Aurora and

Montgomery Fire Departments helped put out the fire.Authorities indicated there were smoke detectors in the

common areas of the building and that the smoke detectors were working. The apartment building was legally licensed with the City of Aurora. The last inspection was in June 2010, when non-life safety violations were found. Authorities report those violations were taken care of this past February.

The victimsAccording to a preliminary report by the Aurora Fire

Department, while the fire supposedly started in apartment 2, most of the casualties and injured occurred in the upper floors.

In Apartment 1 a 39 year-old woman and a one-year old baby were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

In apartment number 2 there were six residents and only a 60-year old man was injured when he apparently tried to use a garden hose to extinguish the flames after he called 911.

In the second floor, firefighters rescued a person from apartment 4, located directly above the unit where the fire started. The 59 year-old woman received treatment at the scene. This apartment showed little smoke and fire damage. Meanwhile, three people from apartment 6 were taken to an area hospital for smoke inhalation.

Two of the deceased lived in apartment number 7 in the third floor, Christina Dominguez and her son, eight-month old Alex Gonzaga. A man, whose age is not known and is thought to be the father of the baby, left his apartment through a third-floor window along with his two-year-old daughter. Both were taken to an Aurora hospital, but the girl was taken to Loyola University Medical Center to be treated for injuries consistent with a third-floor fall. Her condition is reported as serious, while her father is believed to be in stable condition.

Apartment number 8 showed signs of heavy smoke and fire damage. The investigations show the door to apartment 8 was open when firefighters got to the third floor.

Four victims were found in this apartment: a 29 year-old man identified as Francisco Marcos Sr., a 9 year-old child identified as Jose Marcos , a 6 year-old child identified as Francisco Marcos Jr., and a 30 year-old woman, identified as Micaela Perez. A fifth victim, a 14 year-old male, identified as Teodoro Marcos, survived the fire and was taken to a local hospital.

Francisco Marcos Jr. was a kindergarten student and Jose Marcos a fourth-grade student at Brady Elementary School.

Teodoro is a student at Waldo Middle School.The Marcos family was from the state of Puebla in Mexico

and their relatives want to send their bodies back to their home country to be buried there. Teodoro, who has been released from the hospital, is living with relatives while his legal guardianship is determined.

The victims of apartment 10 include a 13 year-old male who jumped from a window. He suffered from smoke inhalation and is at the hospital. His current condition was not available. A 13 year old female and a 7 year-old boy were taken to the hospital to receive treatment for smoke inhalation. This is the apartment from where Manuel Ramirez and his family escaped.

woke Liduvina Huante and her husband, Tony. The Huantes live at 754 claim Street, next door to the apartment building. Still unsure of what was going on, the Huantes were evacuated by authorities, who told them they had to leave because they were at risk.

“We were standing there on the sidewalk, watching what was going on,” Tony said. “It was raining, but we didn’t feel the rain. Then our next-door neighbor offered us his home to wait there.”

They recounted their ordeal while standing outside their neighbor’s home, watching the television crews and the people who went by the site.

At about 9 a.m. that morning Liduvina was able to return to her home to see if everything was fine. Her property was not damaged by the fire.

“We are sad because in the beginning we thought it was just the fire, but afterwards we found out there were people who had died,” Tony said. “We knew them because we would see that they lived there. We didn’t know their names.”

The couple said they were impacted by the sight of the flames coming out of the first floor apartment, where the fire is believed to have started, and from the apartments in the upper floors. “It was shocking, especially the screams,” Liduvina said, recounting how people fled the fire without shoes, only with the clothes on their backs.

“May God be with those people who lost their lives,” Liduvina said.

The community respondsIglesia Bautista Emanuel, located three buildings west of

the apartment building, opened its doors to receive the people displaced by the fire and to serve as a collection center for donations from the community.

Since May 15 people started dropping off clothing, money and food to help in any way they could.

“The response from the community I consider it has been positive, just see,” said Laura Gaspar, a church volunteer, who pointed to the long tables covered by clothes of different sizes that had been donated in just over 24 hours.

“We don’t need more clothes, we need personal hygiene items and canned food for the families” Gaspar said.

She mentioned that Red Cross personnel had been on hand at the church on May 15 to help the people in need and they had been in charge of finding shelter for those left without a place to go.

The church is accepting donations of personal care items and food, as well as money that will be used to help with funeral expenses and for the building residents who survived.

Martha Carlos from the Red Cross of Greater Chicago said this organization had provided help to 12 people who had been left homeless by the fire, providing them food, clothing and refuge. She also mentioned they had sent mental health teams to hospitals to talk to victims and their relatives, and also to talk to rescue officers who were at the site.

Meanwhile, people gathered by the makeshift memorial that was created to honor the memory of those who died, to pay tribute and see how they could help. Others were there to confirm the news they had heard.

Cleotilde Diaz is a Taxi Durango driver and because of her work she had contact with Micaela Perez, Francisco Marcos and their children.

“I could not believe it. They told me and I couldn’t believe it, that’s why I came,” she said while looking over the white crosses located outside the building. “The day before yesterday I had taken them to do their laundry.”

AURORA – Authorities from Aurora and surrounding states are searching tirelessly for a six-year old boy, who disappeared along with his mother last week. The woman was found dead of an apparent suicide in a Rockford Motel on May 14. Now the FBI has joined in the search.

Timothy J. Pitzen is a 4’2”, 70-lb. boy with brown eyes and hair.

According to authorities he was seen for the last time at about 10:10 a.m. May 13, when he and his mother checked out of the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Currently authorities are focusing their efforts in the Sterling/Rock Falls area, where Timothy and his mother were heard from for the last time.

DisappearanceThe boy and his mother, Amy J. Fry-Pitzen,

were reported missing by Jim Pitzen, the boy’s father and the woman’s husband, a little after 1 p.m. May 12. The family lived in the 400 block of North Highland Avenue in Aurora. Timothy is a student at Greenman Elementary School.

During the initial investigation the police discovered that Amy had taken Timothy out of school at about 8:35 a.m. May 11.

Both apparently went to Brookfield Zoo that day and checked in at the Key Lime Cove Resort in Gurnee, Illinois that night.

From there they went to Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells and checked out of the hotel the morning of May 13. Relatives and friends said they had been contacted by Amy on May 13. One of the relatives spoke with Timothy and said the child didn’t seem to be in danger. That has been the last conversation someone has had with the child.

CluesDetectives said they have confirmed

through credit card transactions that Amy apparently bought children’s clothing and toys at a store in Racine, Wisconsin at about 11:15 a.m. May12. Later on, at about 2:20 p.m., she bought gas and drinks at a convenience store located off I-94 in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, telephone records indicate that Amy called her friends and relatives between

12 and 1:30 p.m. May 13, while she and Timothy were in the Sterling/Rock Falls area in northwest Illinois.

Police knows Amy was seen without Timothy at Sullivan’s Foods in Winnebago, Illinois at about 8 p.m. May 13 and when she checked in at the Rockford Inn Motel between 11:15 and 11:30 p.m. that same night. The woman was found dead at about 12:30 p.m. May 14.

In her hotel room authorities found a note saying Timothy was fine and under the care of unnamed people.

During the investigation authorities found that the child safety seat and the boy’s Spider Man backpack were not in the woman’s car.

The finding was made while detectives were analyzing photos of the vehicle with the child’s father. The photos were taken at the motel parking lot in Rockford.

This finding gives credibility to the theory that Amy left the child with a friend or acquaintance. However, authorities said they are still exploring other leads.

Jim Pitzen told authorities that his wife had relatives and friends in Iowa, Ohio, Arizona and California, but that as far as he knew, they didn’t have any friends or relatives in Wisconsin. He also said the family had never been to the Kalahari Resort or in Rockford.

Authorities said it wasn’t out of character

for Amy to leave, but there were no indications that she had ever done it before taking Timothy with her. They also said the couple had had some domestic problems.

The Aurora Police department is working with several jurisdictions in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa on this case, as well as with an ADAM Team from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI.

Anybody who believes they saw the boy, his mother, and /or anyone who may have been with them, or anyone who may have information on the case, is asked to call Aurora Police at (630) 256-5500, or their local authorities by dialing 911.

AURORA – Autoridades de Aurora y varios estados vecinos buscan incansablemente a un niño de 6 años, quien desapareció junto con su madre la semana pasada. La mujer fue encontrada muerta de un aparente suicidio en un hotel de Rockford el 14 de mayo. Ahora, el FBI se ha unido a la búsqueda.

Timothy J. Pitzen, es un niño de aproximadamente 70 libras de peso, 4 pies 2 pulgadas de estatura y tiene ojos y cabello cafés.

De acuerdo a las autoridades, Timothy fue visto por última vez alrededor de las 10:10 a.m. del viernes 13 de mayo, cuando él y su madre salieron del hotel Kalahari Resort de Wisconsin Dells.

Actualmente los esfuerzos de las autoridades están enfocados en el área de Sterling/Rock Falls, de donde se tuvo la última comunicación con Timothy y su madre.

Este descubrimiento se hizo cuando detectives y el padre de Timothy estaban analizando fotografías del vehículo que fueron tomadas cuando se encontró el automóvil en el estacionamiento del motel en Rockford.

Este hallazgo da credibilidad a la teoría de que el niño pudo haber sido dejado por Amy con un amigo o conocido. Sin embargo, las autoridades dijeron que continúan explorando otras teorías en el caso.

Jim Pitzen declaró a las autoridades que su esposa tenía familiares y amigos en Iowa, Ohio, Arizona y California, pero que hasta donde él sabía, ellos no tenían familiares o amigos en Wisconsin. Además, mencionó que la familia nunca había viajado junta al hotel Kalahari Resort o a Rockford.

Sinaloa prohíbe los narcocorridos

CULIACÁN – El gobernador de Sinaloa, Mario López Valdez, emitió un cambio en las regulaciones e inspecciones de bebidas alcohólicas, y a partir de ahora los bares, cantinas, centros nocturnos y salones de fiesta no pueden tocar canciones donde se hable del crimen organizado o tener presentaciones de artistas del llamado “Movimiento Alterado”.

Los establecimientos que violen esta regulación verán sus licencias de venta y consumo de bebidas alcohólicas canceladas.

“Lo estamos reformando porque determinamos que íbamos a establecer como política que no le íbamos a autorizar las revalidaciones de las licencias a aquellos espacios donde se había el fomento o una apología del delito”, dijo López Valdez.

El gobernador, conocido como Malova, dijo que los propietarios de negocios estarán interesados en cumplir con esta medida, ya que van a querer evitar incidentes sangrientos y de violencia, que son una razón para clausurar el negocio o cancelar las licencias.

Malova dijo que su administración hizo el cambio porque existe evidencia que los actos de violencia que se han dado en centros nocturnos están ligados al “Movimiento Alterado”.

Los cantantes de este movimiento hacen referencia al crimen organizado en sus canciones, se visten como supuestos narcotraficantes y viajan en vehículos extravagantes.

La madrugada del 21 de febrero en la Zona Dorada de Mazatlán un grupo fuertemente armado atacó durante la presentación del cantante Gerardo Ortiz. Seis personas murieron, entre ellos uno de los nietos del fundador de la Banda El Recodo, Cruz Lizárraga.

Los cambios a las regulaciones se aprobaron el 17 de mayo.“Queremos cambiar las cosas, tenemos que ser fuertes. Y además, cuando tienen una concesión

del estado, tiene el estado el derecho a reglamentarlo”, dijo.

CULIACAN – Sinaloa Governor, Mario Lopez Valdez, issued change in the rules and inspections related to alcoholic beverages, and from now on bars, pubs, nightclubs and banquet halls cannot play songs about organized crimes or feature artists from the “Altered Movement.”

The establishments that violate this regulation will have their liquor licenses revoked.

“We are making the changes because we determined that we would establish a policy that we were not going to approve the license renewals to those areas where they did the promotion or advocacy of crime,” Lopez Valdez said.

The governor, also known as Malova, said the business owners will comply with the measure, because they will be interested in avoiding violence and bloody incidents in their businesses, because that’s a reason why the place can be closed or the license revoked.

Malova said his administration made the change because there is evidence that violent acts that have happened in nightclubs are linked to the “Altered Movement” or “Movimiento Alterado.”

In this movement, singers make reference to organized crime in their songs, they dress up like alleged drug trafficking kingpins and ride extravagant vehicles.

¿Puedo ir a la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en la Ciudad de México a recibir mi visa de inmigrante?

Anteriormente todos los inmigrantes que venían a los Estados Unidos de México tenían que presentarse en el Consulado estadounidense en Ciudad Juárez para una entrevista durante el proceso para su visa de inmigrante.

El Consulado de los Estados Unidos en Ciudad Juárez entrevistaba a los inmigrantes potenciales y, si eran aprobados para una visa de inmigrante, tenían seis meses para entrar a los Estados Unidos y cuando entraban a los Estados Unidos recibían su residencia permanente o tarjeta verde.

El Consulado de los Estados Unidos en Ciudad Juárez es el Consulado estadounidense más ocupado del mundo. El consulado se ha expandido en los últimos años y ha puesto muchos procedimientos para ser más eficientes.

Pero recientemente el gobierno estadounidense ha determinado que el Consulado de Estados Unidos en Ciudad Juárez no es capaz de procesar las decenas de miles de peticiones de visas de inmigrante que se procesan cada año.

Por lo tanto, bajo nuevas regulaciones, los posibles inmigrantes que caen bajo la categoría 4, que son hermanos y hermanas de ciudadanos estadounidenses, están procesando sus solicitudes por medio de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en la Ciudad de México.

La Embajada de los Estados Unidos en la Ciudad de México también está procesando las peticiones de visa de inmigrante para huérfanos.

Así que, bajo las regulaciones actuales, si su cónyuge, padre o hijo hizo una petición para usted para recibir una visa de inmigrante, usted necesita procesar su documentación por medio del Consulado estadounidense en Ciudad Juárez. Pero si usted es el beneficiario de una petición de visa por parte de su hermano o hermana y la fecha de la petición está actualizada, o si usted es un huérfano, usted NO tendrá que procesar su visa por medio del Consulado estadounidense en Ciudad Juárez. Usted PROCESARÁ su visa de inmigrante en la Embajada de Estados Unidos en la Ciudad de México.

Si usted no es el beneficiario de una petición de hermano o hermana o de un huérfano, usted no puede pedir que sea procesado en la Ciudad de México.

Entiendo que Ciudad Juárez ha tenido muchos retos con la violencia y el Consulado ha puesto muchas medidas de seguridad para proteger a los que intentan emigrar. Pero usted no puede pedir que le procesen su petición en la Embajada de Estados Unidos en la Ciudad de México. Usted tiene que ir al Consulado de los Estados Unidos en Ciudad Juárez.

Can I go to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to receive my immigrant visa?

In the past, all immigrants to the United States from Mexico were required to present themselves at the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez for an interview for immigrant visa processing.

The U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez would interview potential immigrants and, if approved for the immigrant visa, they would receive the visa and within six months they have to enter the United States and when they did enter the United States they would receive a permanent residency, i.e., green card.

The U.S. consulate in Ciudad Juarez is the busiest U.S. consulate in the world. The consulate has expanded over the last few years and put in a lot of procedures to be much more efficient. But recently the U.S. government has determined that the U.S. consulate in Ciudad Juarez is incapable of

handling the tens of thousands of immigrant visa petitions that are processed every year, therefore under the new regulations, intending immigrants in category 4, which are brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens, are processing their applications through the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City is also processing immigrant visa petitions for orphans.

So currently, under the regulations, if your spouse, parent or child petitioned for you to receive an immigrant visa, you still would process your paperwork through the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez.

But if you are the beneficiary of an approved brother or sister visa petition and the petition date is current, or you are an orphan, you will NOT process through the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez. You WILL process your immigrant visa through the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.

If you are not the beneficiary of a brother or sister petition, or orphan, you cannot request to be processed through Mexico City.

I understand Ciudad Juarez has had numerous

challenges with the violence and the U.S. Consulate has put in many safety precautions to protect intending immigrants.

But you cannot ask to be processed through the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. You still have to go to the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez.

CALIFORNIA – Algunos medios de comunicación han identificado a la madre del hijo ilegítimo del ex gobernador de California Arnold Schwarzenegger como Mildred Baena, una mujer de 50 años de edad.

Schwarzenegger reveló el 16 de mayo que había tenido un hijo fuera del matrimonio con una empleada de su casa hace más de 20 años. Esta revelación surgió una semana después de que el actor y su esposa María Shriver, conductora de televisión, anunciaran su separación después de 25 años de matrimonio.

El sitio de internet de noticias de entretenimiento TMZ.com identificó a la mujer como Mildred Patricia Baena, mejor conocida como “Patty”, quien trabajó como sirvienta y asistente de la familia por más de 20 años. El sitio de internet menciona que entre sus labores se encontraba limpiar, lavar la ropa, cocinar y otras tareas.

La mujer quedó embarazada cuando trabajaba en la casa de los Schwarzenegger-Shriver, pero originalmente dijo que el bebé era de su entonces esposo, y no informó al actor que era el padre hasta que el niño ya tenía más de un año.

En la información inicial se dijo que el niño tenía alrededor de 10 años, pero las últimas informaciones indican que podría tener alrededor de 14 años de edad, la misma edad del menor de los cuatro hijos que tuvo con Shriver.

“Entiendo y merezco los

Por su parte Shriver también emitió un comunicado sobre esta situación, diciendo que “Este es un tiempo doloroso y decepcionante. Como madre, mi preocupación es por los hijos. Pido compasión, respeto y privacidad mientras mis hijos y yo tratamos de reconstruir nuestras vidas y de sanar. No voy a hacer más comentarios”.

Shriver dejó la casa familiar en Brentwood después de que Schwarzenegger reconociera que había tenido un hijo fuera del matrimonio. La pareja tuvo cuatro hijos: Katherine de 21 años de edad, Christina de 19, Patrick de 17 y Christopher de 13.

Aparentemente Baena trabajó para la familia por más de 20 años y se retiró en enero pasado. El diario Los Ángeles Times entrevistó a la mujer, a quien no identificó por nombre, y en la entrevista ella dijo que su meta era trabajar 20 años y retirarse, algo que hizo recientemente. Comentó que se fue de su empleo en buenos términos.

Fuentes del sitio TMZ dijeron que Baena comenzó a “buscar a Arnold” a finales de la década de los 90. De acuerdo al sitio, Baena les había comentado a sus amigos que tenían sexo sin protección durante el día en la casa. La mujer nunca pasó la noche en la casa y nadie los sorprendió juntos. El sitio también informó que la mujer recibió un tratamiento generoso por parte del actor desde que éste se enteró que tenía un hijo con ella. Baena actualmente vive en una casa de 4 recámaras con alberca en una población a varias horas de distancia de Los Ángeles. Ella reside en esta casa con sus cuatro hijos, incluyendo el hijo del actor.

TMZ dijo tener en su poder fotografías del menor, en las que se aprecia un gran parecido entre el niño y el actor, particularmente en la boca y los dientes.

El actor se ha distinguido por sus ataques a la comunidad migrante hispana.

Antes de convertirse en gobernador por el partido republicano, Schwarzenegger causó molestias al catalogar a los mexicanos como “browns”.

Ya convertido en gobernador, alabó las acciones de grupos caza inmigrantes en 2005 y en 2007 sugirió a los latinos que apagaran la televisión en su idioma para que aprendieran a hablar inglés.

CALIFORNIA – Several media outlets have identified the woman who had a child with former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as 50 year-old Mildred Baena.

Schwarzenegger issued a statement May 16 saying he had fathered a child out of wedlock with a household employee who had worked for the family for over 20 years.

This revelation came a week after the actor and his wife, television presenter Maria Shriver, announced their separation after 25 years of marriage.

The entertainment news web site TMZ.com identified the woman as Mildred Patricia Baena, or “Patty”, who worked as a housekeeper and family assistant for over 20 years. The site said the woman was in charge of cleaning, doing laundry, cooking and other chores.

The woman got pregnant while working for the Schwarzeneggers, but said the father was his then husband, and didn’t tell the actor about the child’s true father until the boy was a toddler.

Initially it was reported that the child, a boy, is now about 10 years old, but new information indicates that the child, now a teenager, could be around 14 years old, roughly the same age as Maria and Arnold’s youngest son.

“I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family,” Schwarzenegger wrote in a statement. “There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.”

Shriver issued her own statement a short time later, saying “This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment.”

Shriver left the family home in Brentwood after Schwarzenegger acknowledged he had fathered a child out of wedlock. The couple has four children: Katherine, 21; Christina, 19; Patrick, 17; and Christopher, 13.

Apparently Baena worked for the family for over 20 years and retired last January. The Los Angeles Times interviewed the woman, who was not identified by name, and in the interview she said she wanted to work for 20 years, and then retire and that’s what she had done. She said that she left her position in good terms.

TMZ sources said that Baena started “chasing Arnold” in the late 90s. According to the site, Baena had told friends that they would have unprotected sex during the day at the home. She never stayed in the home overnight and nobody caught them in the act.

Some sources also indicated that Baena’s son spent a good amount of time in the Schwarzenegger-Shriver home.

The site also reported that the woman was generously treated by the actor since he found out he had a son with her. Baena currently lives in a four bedroom home with a pool in a town several hours north of Los Angeles. She lives there along with her four children, including the actor’s son.

TMZ stated they had photos of the child, and that there is a strong resemblance between the boy and the actor, particularly in the mouth and teeth.

The actor has a reputation of attacking the Hispanic immigrant community. Before becoming a Republican governor for California, Schwarzenegger upset some people when he called Mexicans “browns.”

As a governor, he praised the efforts of minute-men type groups in 2007 and in 2007 he told Latinos they should turn off their Spanish-language TV programs so they could learn English.

CD. DE MÉXICO – Kalimba está siendo acusado por su ex prometida de abusar sexualmente de su hija de cinco años, de acuerdo con una revista de entretenimiento en México.

Tvnotas México publicó esta semana que durante una entrevista con una mujer llamada Kimberly, quien fue novia de Kalimba por 18 meses y hasta estaba planeando su boda con él, la mujer había dicho que el cantante había abusado sexualmente de su hija y había impuesto castigos físicos a su hijo en nombre del cristianismo.

“Kalimba abusó sexualmente de mi hija de cinco años (…) le destrozó la vida a mi pequeña”, dijo la mujer en la entrevista. Kimberly tiene dos hijos: María José de cinco años y Christian de cuatro.

De acuerdo a la revista, Kimberly se dio cuenta que algo estaba mal cuando su relación con Kalimba terminó. Ella se dio cuenta que la niña se aislaba, comía demasiado, no dejaba que ningún hombre se le acercara y no dormía.

Kimberly dijo a la revista que se preocupó y llevó a la niña a ver a una de sus primas, que es psicóloga.

La psicóloga, después de observar a la niña por dos días, le dijo a Kimberly que la niña había sido abusada sexualmente y que la niña siempre mencionaba a Kalimba.

Kimberly declaró que después de que se le dio esta información, llevó a la niña con una ginecóloga, quien le dijo que la niña mostraba heridas consistentes con una penetración anal.

MEXICO CITY – Kalimba is being accused by his former fiancé of sexually abusing her five year-old daughter, according to an entertainment magazine in Mexico.

Tvnotas Mexico published this week that during an interview a woman named Kimberly, who dated Kalimba for over 18 months and was planning a wedding with him, she said the singer had sexually abused her daughter and had inflicted physical punishment on her son, in the name of Christianity.

“Kalimba sexually abused my 5 year-old daughter (…) he destroyed my little girl’s life,” she told the magazine. She has two children, Maria Jose who is five and Christian who is four.

According to the magazine, Kimberly noticed something was wrong when her relationship with Kalimba ended. She noticed that the girl was isolating herself, was eating too much, didn’t let any men get near her and couldn’t sleep.

Kimberly told the magazine that she got worried and took the girl to see one of her cousins, who is a psychologist.

The professional, after observing the girl for two days, told Kimberly that the girl had been sexually abused and that she always mentioned Kalimba.

Kimberly told the magazine that after she received this information, she took the girl to a gynecologist, who told her the girl showed injuries consistent with anal penetration.

However, the model hadn’t filed any official charges against the singer when the interview was conducted, but said she would do that.

While Kalimba’s lawyers said they couldn’t comment on the case because they haven’t talked to his client the singer, as it is usual in him, took to Twitter to answer to the charges, saying that “I told you since yesterday, the battle does not stop, but I want you to know that I’m here, with faith, sad but full of faith. I love you. May God bless you.”
